Absolutely fabulous!! Everything was perfectly on point. Staff and cuisine are top-notch; we enjoyed every second and if we lived in Seattle, would be making this our sushi go-to. Thank you Sushi Kappa Tamura!
Best sushi I have eaten in Seattle.
Wow just WOW. I wish I could give 10 stars. Everything was perfect. The servers and chef went above and beyond. There’s so much talent in one small restaurant, we were amazed with the quality and care taken for each course of our meal. Thank you, we can’t wait to come back!
Great food and service.
Service was amazing and the sushi was so so so GOOD
Best dining experience I have had ever. Incredible food and incredible people that make it all happen. Wish I lived in Seattle to be a regular.
Enjoyed a beautiful 6 course meal. The server, Edward, was a wonderful host explaining each course and the sake pairing.
It seems like an odd location, however, a keen and creative mind has made this a lovely and beautiful place to be.
The halibut tempura was perfectly prepared, and the nigiri sushi omakase was excellent as well. My only suggestion for improvement is that the sushi would be even better if the temperature of the rice were just a bit warmer (at approximately body temperature) to enhance the flavor of the fish. I was sitting at a table and not at the sushi counter so that may have led to the slight drop in rice temperature by the time I ate it.
Edward was a great host for a special dinner. The 6-course omakase is not to be missed!
The service was outstanding. The quality of the fish was so fresh and delicate. Totally trusted them to just give us whatever they thought best. Completely satisfied and will be back ASAP!
Sashimi special was amazing. So fresh. Waiter was awesome and recommended amazing sake. Great experience.
Beautiful restaurant, attentive staff, and the fish/food was so fresh and beautifully prepared. As an out-of-town visitor, this was highly recommended by friends as a special treat and this certainly was. If you have the tasting menu you will be left very satisfied!
The service was outstanding as was the food. Really recommend the 5 course dinner!
We went for the 5 course prix fixe menu and had a blast! Our waiter was super attentive and gave us plenty of recommendations throughout the meal.
So glad to be back at our favorite restaurant for signature sushi rolls and ippins!
Our meal was SO good! All of the fish was so fresh. Even the salad was delicious! And our server was incredibly helpful--suggesting items and helping us navigate the menu. Finally, the atmosphere is quiet and calm. I would absolutely return!!
The food was outstanding as was the service. The presentation of each dish was artful and enticing.
Went for our wedding anniversary, asked to be seated at the bar for Omakase. Could not have been more perfect. Only area they don't get 5 stars is "value" because even for a meal this perfect, >$400 for two is a lot to spend. But then, this is exactly what l that expensive is supposed to be like.
We had the 3 course meal with a sashimi course as well as sake pairings. Overall food was amazing but our server Jake was very thoughtful and we highly recommend!
Excellent service and an outstanding meal. Sushi Kappo Tamura never fails to exceed expectations.
Delicious food. It was a fun experience to have. Will definitely come back to try out the rest of the menu.
Kappa Tamura is among the best Japanese restaurants in Seattle. Chef Kitamura’s charismatic personality adds much charm to this down-to-earth place. If you get a chance, seek out some sake to go with your meals. Knowledgeable waitstaff will help pick out a sale that pairs beautifully with your choice of meal. Parking can be tricky so allow time for that.
Very small amounts of food for the price. Five pieces of sushi for $12-15 was disappointing.
The front door said to call & someone would get you even with a reservation, but no one answered.
Unbelievable food, selection, service, and experience. A truly special evening. Cannot wait to return!
Wonderful food, great service, awesome sake suggestion. What more could you ask for?
Good food; we really liked the green bean salad. The toro and alaskan salmon sashimi were also really good. The waitress was really knowledgeable and helpful.
Edward was my server and he made it the most incredible experience I have ever had! Started with Omakase for which normal I prefer to pick my own but so glad I did. His knowledge of fish and Sake made the night that much better. My largest Instagram post in a while. Sushi was beyond amazing. I would suggest this to anyone in Seattle downtown as it is away from it, tucked away. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My son and I went to celebrate my birthday and last night in Seattle. He’s been there a couple of times. The good was absolutely exquisite! He had the 5 course meal. The selection is superb, seafood as fresh as can be, and that hot ginger tea? I could drink it all day long! Fabulous service and ambiance. I highly recommend it!
Our reservation was for 8 pm yesterday and we arrived about 60 minutes earlier, as we found ourselves in the neighborhood sooner than expected. We were concerned that with COVID protocols, getting seated earlier would be an issue, but it wasn’t. The hostess was very helpful in getting us seated after a few minutes.
The entire staff was friendly and very attentive. My friend and I chose the 3 course menu and we were stuffed by the end of the sushi course.
We asked that the desserts be delayed and they were gracious enough to let us sit and chat until we were ready.
I’m not normally a fan of greens, but the greens with tuna had an amazing peanut sauce that kept me eating from my friend’s plate.
The nigiri and sushi main were delicious and the dessert, I had the walnut creme brûlée, (my friend had the yuzu pan a cotta) had the was perfect.
I would highly recommend the restaurant and can’t wait to go again.
Great experience over all, will try the Omekase in the future. The miso soup was good, it’s not too salty but had enough flavor, unlike many other places. Wish they could offer rock fish sashimi though.
This is one of the best sushi bars in Seattle. Hard to get into, but worth the wait.
amazing food and service
Overall, a lovely dining experience for my 6th anniversary right before indoor dining closed. We had the 6-course omakase which was well executed and delicious 👌. Great hospitality and we’ll return
Such an incredible experience, hands down one of the best sushi restaurants in all of Seattle, thank you!!!!
Edward, our server, made the night very special. Great knowledge of the food and sake menu.
In our 22 years of living in the Pacific Northwest this was by far the best Japanese meal we've had. The fish in the chirashi was melt-in-your-mouth fresh as was the braised Snake River wagyu. You've also got to try the halibut tempura, Jidori Chicken Karaage, Oishi Roll, Black Dragon Roll, and the House Made Millet Mochi for dessert. My wife also loved her two Shiso Mojito's.
Came here for the first time a couple weeks ago, and was so impressed with their fish selection and quality that we knew we had to come back to try the omakase! Did the sashimi omakase and it was AMAZING. They paced it in two courses and after the first course, our server asked if we wanted the second course to be similar to or different from the first (so we could get more variety). We decided to go for variety and i'm glad we did - we tried many things that we wouldn't have normally ordered, and everything was incredibly tasty! Also, their rolls are amazing. Try the Oishi and Black Dragon rolls - you will not regret it! They also have some delicious sake options.
I’ve never had a bad meal at Sushi Kappo Tamura. The rolls here are delicious, what I find impressive is the quality and variety of fresh fish.
Taichi and his crew are fun to watch And chat with at the sushi bar.
