Sundance The Steakhouse
Crab cake and clam chowder were awesome! Prime rib wasn't as tender as I expected. I'll try the steak next time. Love the olive oil + vinegar plate.
never disappoints. meat eating is alive and well in Palo Alto
Always a great place to go for dinner
We had a great server, Tracy and the food was very good.
Great food and service; however best to ask if a large group will be seated near your table. We had a fun lunch but had to yell to be heard once drinks at been served at the 12 seats next to us.
Our waitress was a superstar! We had such a wonderful time on a very special occasion, and our waitress (whose name I’ve unfortunately forgotten) made it even better.
The wine list is outstanding, the food was outstanding, and the atmosphere is charming. (Our only issue was some confusion about what belonged on my plate.)
Great food, great waiter
Could not have been nicer
Went for a special birthday and the birthday girl was delighted
The food was great. Prime rib was cooked to perfection. Scallops were so good and tasty. Prawns with linguini was great as well, cooked well in cream sauce.
The food at this place is good but nothing exceptional. The service was terrible and the noise level was so bad you could hardly hear yourself think let along have a conversation.
I love this restaurant. We did have a little issue with the food being too salty (we were a group of 8, 6 out of the 8 said their food was too salty). When we mentioned this issue to the waiter he tried to fix it. The gave us complimentary dessert and asked if we wanted to sub out the mashed potatoes with veggies. This place is great, a minor hiccup.
Simply great food. Noce atmosphere. Portion is typical American one, i.e., big. A bit pricy though.
Always a pleasure. Prime rib as good as any, and loads of other terrific offerings as well. Excellent service, large portions, and a great place to celebrate an occasion.
Great service and very accommodating for a large group. Everyone was happy with their order.
We have been here before and everything was excellent. Our waiter this time maybe had too much to do as we even had to ask for desert and our bill. The food was not as good as last time but still would go back. As a matter of fact we went back for lunch as we were still in town. Lunch was excellent and so was our waiter.
My lobster was the best ever and all were happy with their meals. Dessert was delicious (hot fudge and all).
Restaurant dark and loud. Expensive. Food was not hot when served. Waitress sucked.
just amazing ! we loved the food and service was top notch.
Attentive service and good food. Nice variety for a steakhouse.
Sitting in one of the larger rooms made it challenging to have a conversation as the noise level was obnoxious.
Get a booth if you plan to eat here.
Wonderful food in a wonderful setting
Excellent service from the moment we walked in. Hostess, bartender, and wait staff were all very attentive and engaging. Very diverse menu and food was well presented. Quality of food, wine, and cocktails was outstanding.
We had our team dinner at this place and the food was amazing and the ambiance was excellent. It was a loud though but the food compensated the noise.
Gave waiter two credit cards to split the bill and they stupidly split bill and put both dinners on one credit card!
It was a perfect birthday lunch! We sat in a comfortable booth. The bread was warm and our food came out quickly and tasted delicious! We were going to pass on dessert but they gave my sister in law a piece of mud pie with a candle on top. So wonderful! I will definitely be returning soon!
We took one of my oldest friends and his wife to dinner. We each had different dishes. The lobster bisque and New York steak were excellent. My wife had the house salad and chicken Marsala, which she also liked. The dessert menu was broad and very good. Only negatives were that our guest ordered prime rib medium rare, and the first try was close to well done, and the restaurant ran out of baked potatoes. Still a nice evening and dinner.
Always a great experience at Sundance with an extensive menu and excellent service from the moment you step inside. Have really enjoyed for many, many years.
Fantastic, as always. One of our most favorite restaurants on the Peninsula! The steak is always perfect, the atmosphere always enjoyable, and the service is the best ever! We always reserve a booth, which makes the experience even better. I highly recommend Sundance to everyone that asks about wanting great steak, and always consistent in service.
From start to finish, the staff made our visit pleasant and relaxing. The Menu is what one would expect in a Steak House, with good options for one and all. Everyone in our party truly enjoyed their meal and agreed that we should "do this again".
Always a great time at this restaurant. The ambiance is the classic steak house, wood paneled, leather chairs so it sets up the dinner expectations. What follows does not disappoint. There is a great bar with premium drinks. The menu, while steak centered has plenty of other items, including some pasta and fish and of course the requisite Lobster Tail. The wine list has a wonderful selection and there is an ample selection of after dinner drinks. All this is prepared to perfection and served with perfect timing by a well coached staff. And the whole meal can be enjoyed with friends in a atmosphere that allows casual conversation without raising your voice. I can always be easily persuaded to going to Sundance instead of anywhere else we might have been heading.
Good food, great service, good value (I have the sunset menu).
And it is close to where I live.
I have had many visits to Sundance and always have excellence in food, drinks, service. I do feel the menu is a bit expensive which is why my visits are not as often as when I was working.
We had an excellent prime rib dinner. Service was good and the Sunset dinner was great value.
As always, great!
Excellent food and excellent service. The restaurant is very cozy. We will definitely dine there again.
Delicious food with very generous portions tastefully prepared. Wonderful attentive service
Usually when I make a reservation I am sat at a nice booth, this time we were sat at a table next to an empty booth. I asked if we could sit in the booth and the host told us that it was specifically reserved for someone coming in, which no one ended up coming in and sitting in the booth. Service and food was great, only disappointed by our table and not being able to sit in a booth.
We’ve been coming here for 15 or more years, and I feel like it is going downhill. The food and service were outstanding, as usual, but the ambiance is tanking. For the second time in a row we were seated in the loudest area of the restaurant, not including the bar, and in the exact same “let’s throw a table here” seat. It is really hard to have a great dinner when you can’t hardly hear your partner over the other obnoxiously loud tables. I was raised to keep my voice down at dinner when I’m in public. This seems to be a foreign concept to other people, and it didn’t used to be that way at Sundance. It used to be quiet, with a romantic and peaceful ambiance; not anymore, apparently. So disappointing because they have impeccable service (usually), and amazing food (always). I just wish they’d figure out that a couple doesn’t want to sit in the side room with 4 tables of 4+ people being so loud. This is the second loud and annoying experience in a row at Sundance. Third time and they’re out. Also, what’s the point of writing this review. Clearly no one cares. If they cared they would have reached out after my last review when my 20th anniversary was ruined.
We were really disappointed with our experience. We have been coming here for 30 years. This place can get busy, but somehow a server’s personality or an experienced food runner could find a way to still make it a positive experience. Sunday night that did not happen. It was like going to an over priced steakhouse for a bad experience. I was so sad cause this has never happened before and is one of my favorite restaurants.....
It had been a long time between visits to this restaurant and now I’m sorry I waited so long. Outstanding food and service - I had lobster bisque and fusilli pasta with prawns. Both were excellent. Noise level was very low so tablemate conversation was possible - a rare commodity these days. My only complaint is that their corkage fee for BYO wine is $30 which seems rather pricey. Will be back sooner rather than later.
Terrific food, very good service, and a comfortable setting made for a wonderful birthday dinner for my wife. The Caesar salad, fillet mignon, and included potato/vegetables were delicious, and the complimentary mud pie was most appreciated.
Prices at Sundance Steakhouse are very reasonable, and I highly recommend this restaurant.
