As a first timer at Sullivan’s in Anchorage it was great experience. The food was delicious; however, they did not have their House wine and they didn’t not have my second choice either. Those negatives did not have an impact on my dinner though, the sweet tea was just as good! The service was also superb and will be a reason to go back. Thank you for a great dinner.
Great experience and the Wagyu steak was one of the best steaks I have ever had!
Last day of Spring Break and wanted to treat my awesome teen!
Good food but the prices are astronomical for the portions you receive. A rib eye steak that is 65 bucks and doesent come with any sides is just nuts.
I like it when the wait staff is knowledegable about the menu, that is they themselves have tasted what's on the menu. I value recommendations and opinions. And thanks for keeping my ice tea always refilled and asking if my steak was cooked as per my request.
Sullivans has been our go to restaurant for special date nights for five years. I am very sad to say we likely will not be returning. We were among the first reservations on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at 5 pm. A party of four. The dining room and bar with both virtually empty when we arrived. My boyfriend and I ordered drinks which took easily 30 minutes to get. The rest of the appetizers and dinner took just as long to serve. My boyfriend ordered the 16 oz. ribeye steak. We were a little shocked to see that the ribeye could not have been more than 1/4 inch in thickness. Disappointing to say the least. Between the service and the disappointment in the steak for the cost, it was not the evening we intended.
Steaks were Terrible! Not cooked properly. Sides were tasteless.
If you have Celiac Disease then you know and understand how hard it is to get a good meal, a safe meal. This has been my go to spot for years now without ever getting sick. The food is to die for and their new Chocolate dessert, lets just say you need to bring a friend because if you can eat this all yourself, my hats off to you. It is rich and so wonderfully gluten free yummy. Also ask for the french onion soup without bread. They take food allergies (although celiac is not an allergy) very very seriously. I wouldn't go anywhere else to eat.
For those who can eat anything this place is still #1 in my book. Anyone I bring or talk to always enjoy the meal. Sometimes too much and we end up taking food home. I have never ever had a bad time at Sullivan's. It is just that good rather you sit in the bar or have a dining experience, they are tops in service and food.
The calamari was tiny and chewy, as well as spicy. Not the best. The salmon was a little dry and the green beans were tough. It was noisy and we did not get a view window this time in fact we were seated in the back section. They do have a good lunch menu and some good cocktails. The waitress didn't bring a coaster or napkin for the cocktail which had spilled all down the side of my glass and so my hand was sticky. My date had the seafood fettuccini which had 3 scallops and 3 shrimp that were cooked perfectly. We will be back but I will have something different.
Great food; amazing service; just loud. If you don’t need to have quiet conversation but want good food & amazing service, this is the place.
We've been here a few times before and have always enjoyed this restaurant. While it can be noisy at times with their live performances just on the other side of the restaurant's bar, it's still a great place to go. We had a very nice meal and would recommend this place to others!
The service was great, and the food was delicious. The calamari appetizer is so delicious. I had a wedge salad, filet, and Brussels sprouts. My husband had French onion soup, ribeye, and au gratin potatoes. The potatoes were so cheesy and delicious. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and very delicious. We also had the bananas foster bread pudding and the table side ganache and torte desserts. Really good. We went for my birthday and it was a good time. Comfortable seats, helpful staff, and an all around great experience. I will be back again.
The experience was everything we were looking for! Birthday celebration was perfect. Staff provided exceptional service. Steaks were good but just a touch off in the tender category. Rose petals on the table a relatively quiet table in the corner and a keepsake photo to take home! Thank you Sullivans for a great dining experience!
I'll start by saying my meal was great. I ordered there "SureThing", Small medium cooked Filet, horseradish mashed, Caesar salad and bread pudding. You can't go wrong with the Knock out Martini either.
My husband ordered the same thing however he ordered the large medium filet, potatoes and cheesecake. His first steak came out 100% well done. It was completely gray. They took it back, I ate my meal about 20 minutes later our (server whole was great by the way, female can't remember her name) showed up with a new plate, new steak. My husband cut into the steak and it was raw, completely raw.
At that point we gave up. The Manager came over and made a few jokes, really what can you do? A steak house who can't cook a steak. :)
However he comp'd the whole bill including drinks. Asked us to please try them again (and we will) boxed up the raw steak and off we went. I fired up the bbq and cooked his steak once we got home. Not the date night we had planned but we made it work. Bad nights happen, I hope the next time we go they will redeem and our meal with be awesome once again.
The new menu is great
Seafood platter is a must have
Always consistently good - both service and food! We come here often!
As usual it was great . I think their prices are a little high. We only go on a “date night”. But we love it. It’s on our top 5 list.
Aurora, our server, was particularly attentive and amiable. She made us feel at home and catered to us as individuals. Thanks.
Amazing amazing food. Everything was so delicious. Our waitress wasn’t overly friendly but maybe that’s just her personality. We had to wait about 10-15 minutes or so even though we had a reservation. Highly recommend for romantic (and expensive!) date night.
First time in Alaska, and dinner did not disappoint. Great filets, sides, wine selection and service. We will be back!
I appreciate that Sullivan's has several options for Gluten Free. Half of my family has to be GF, not by choice, and it is lovely to be able to dine, with each one of us enjoying a great meal. And did I mention, the food is great!
Looked good at first, heard good things. Waited 30 minutes before we even got our drink order. Manager said they would comp our drinks, made it a little better. People that came in after us were getting food before we had even gotten our drinks. Our waiter must have been taken from another section of the restaurant, and he tried his best. Once we received the bill, at my own fault, paid it and left. Once in the car, noticed our drinks were not comped. Oh well, live and learn. Food was good.
Food was excellent, service (Terry) was phenomenal. Drinks were awesome. I highly recommend the lobster mashed potatoes!
I went to Sullivan's for Valentines Day with my wife, and we both enjoyed our meals and the atmosphere. Our server, Jose, did a fantastic job! It had been a while since I had been to Sullivan's for dinner, and I am looking forward to going back in the near future.
This was also my first time back since they made the interior improvments, and the new look is great!
Valentines Day (evening) 2018.
I was a little disappointed having made reservations nearly a month in
advance, and then having to stand in the entryway for 15-20 minutes or more with my
Wife when we got there. A cramped tiny table and limited menu with more than standard high end (for Anchorage) pricing did nothing for you guys either. I felt like a pawn in a chess game! $230.00 for a smug atmosphere and cheesy offerings... I would NEVER do it again. I will share with everyone I know... Myself, Being a professional in the business community, this will not go well for you.
Greed, and carelessness with your clientele would be the very least I could describe this experience as.
Disappointed... one word to say the very least.
I wish there would have been an option beyond the Valentine’s Day menu, maybe a mini menu. It’s just too much food for me to eat.
I made reservations online for our valentine's evening dinner. We arrived early and were seated in about 5 minutes. We had previously checked out the menu and had decided on our appetizer, entree' and dessert, so once our Server arrived it did not take us long to order. I had An Alaskan Amber and glass of sauvignon blanc with dinner and my lady only had a cup of coffee with water for her drinks, since she does not drink alcohol. Our appetizers and entree's came amazingly fast and was very pleased with the pace at that point. However, that ended when we had to sit there for 45 minutes to get out desserts. I am glad we were not in a hurry to go somewhere else because it took 2 hours and 30 minutes, but, then it was Valentines Day. Our bill with a 15% tip was $230 and Michael was a pretty good server but not sure what happened to the tardy dessert and we almost left before it showed up. An interesting comparison in inflated prices, 2 days later we had a Birthday Celebration for a close friend and the four of us had appetizers, entree's and desserts with a bottle of good wine, plus a beer and another separate glass of wine with a 25% tip for $30 less, wow. With the high prices, inconveneince of the parking situation and added cost for that Sullivan's is not a place I would go to very often, but the food is very good.
My Wagyu steak was cooked perfectly but there was a lot of gristle. I didn’t care for the Gargonzola Garlic Butter or the mashed potatoes. The server was great but it took over 2 1/2 hours for dinner.
We had a relaxing lunch for a friends birthday. I think this is a very classy restaurant. Sullivan's has a on-the-menu lunch special for a three course lunch where you pick from a choice of salads, or soup, your entree, and a side dish. The shrimp and lobster bisque was very good and the Delmonico Steak was prepared perfectly. My only neg comment is that they need to improve the ventilation to clear the restaurant from the steak preparation. Overall, a very nice lunch!
I am sure we will be back for dinner.
Great service and good food. Margarita was served in 6 or 8oz glass. Too small for the price charged. Otherwise, excellent dinner
Our steaks were grilled to perfection, waiter very attentive and pleasant - really a nice evening.
We went to Sullivan's to celebrate two employees who were celebrating 10 and 40 years of service. The Sullivan's team was welcoming, friendly and offered excellent service. It was truly a lovely experience we will remember. Thank you!!
The customer service was excellent. The waiter checked on us several times to make sure everything was all right, but he was not overbearing with his presence. He took our picture and returned at the end of our meal with the picture in a card. Very good waiter!
The quality of our rib eye steaks was very poor and subpar quality. It was cooked excellently, ordered rare, and it came perfectly rare. The steak, however, was tasteless. It had no flavor and was fairly tuff for a $45 steak. They need to start with serving a higher quality meat. The last time I ate at Sullivan's I had a Filet Mignon, and it was excellent. What happened?
It will be awhile before I return to Sullivan's, based on this experience!
really pleased with dinner and especially the service
My husband and I dined here before a concert. We haven't been back here much since the remodel a few years ago because we feel the ambience has become too casual for the prices (and this is still the case). The bar is fun and the food is still good, but the restaurant side seems confused about exactly what they are. In some ways they are trying too hard and acting like this is very fine dining (wiping off crumbs on the table between courses, high prices, etc.), but completely miss the mark on simple things like offering to take our coats before we are seated and having an actual sommelier with wines from somewhere other than California. The food was very good, but our waiter talked too much in an effort to act like he knew more than he did about food and wine. We are foodies to some degree and would rather someone say that they don't know much about something rather than pretend that they do! We will probably stop by the bar from time to time, but I think that was our last time eating in the dining room at Sullivans.
Wonderful lunchtime happy hour thing. The bar bites and their prices can not be beat. The burger was amazing and the egg rolls are always fantastic. Waiter was nice. A little busy it being happy hour, but still service was excellent. Food just as we expected to be, which was amazing. Really, that price for happy hour can not be beat. We will definitely be going for happy hour again in the future.
The atmosphere was excellent and the service was very courteous, professional, and attentive. The delmonico steak was a bit thin and had some gristle to it but it was seasoned and cooked well, and the mashed potatoes and caesar salad were good.
I received excellent service and my was absolutely delicious.
Staff went out of their way to serve our group drinks from Happy Hour. The food was delicious! The prix fix menu is an excellent value! Had I been with a smaller group, I probably would have sent my steak back to brown a bit more, but it was close to my request for medium well.
