SUCCOTASH is named after the classic dish that has been a longstanding staple of the Southern table. While many know “Succotash” when they see it, the dish has been interpreted, modified, and passed from generation to generation for centuries. While Succotash between families will share similarities, each family’s recipe is deeply personal and reminiscent of those special suppers that brings kin together. Our “Succotash” is special to us and we invite you to experience the South from our point of view.

We stopped in Succotash before an event at the Warner Theater. Everything was delicious and the service was phenomenal!
Great experience! Food was amazing. Our original table was right in front of the bathroom but was quickly changed to a private room after requesting to be moved. VIP service
This is a great place to grab a cocktail. The service was wonderful and the ambiance was beautiful. The food however was a huge disappointment.
The experience at Succotash was amazing thanks in part to our server Olivia. She gave us great recommendations and her kind spirit made the experience very welcoming. The brunch and the peach Bellini with the egg white was an unexpected surprise. I definitely recommend this restaurant.
The food is always great. I’m a huge fan of the “Taste the South” menu because I get to experience several items. Two of my favorites are the fried green tomatoes and the greens. Dessert is always exceptional.
The food was fantastic, the server made excellent recommendations, and we had a great time. This place is quite loud so it was a little hard to hear, but otherwise it was a perfect evening.
This is not a fine dining establishment. Some of the food is very good: I recommend the shrimp and grits and the green tomato salad. Service was very slow and inattentive.
Great service and food.
First time back since re-opening. Thankfully the vast bourbon selection is still there.
Food was fabulous and service was tremendous. SO glad Succotash Prime is open again!!
The service was just alright! Not outstanding ! But the building was simply amazing!
We came for long-awaited opening weekend of brunch menu. As expected, food was delicious. We tried "Taste of the South" family style brunch, which is a great deal - $25/person. So much food, none of us could finish everything. Service was stellar. Always love coming here, go to place when I have friends in town.
Very impressive settings with lots of space. If you want to impress someone, it's a great location.
The new focus as a steak house was a success. We had a tasty burger and a very well cooked medium-rare hanger steak.
And the mini cornbreads were a winner.
My wife and I had the best time to cap off our DC vacation. Will be back for sure.
Our ribs were crazy delicious and the Mac and cheese was to die for! Highly recommend but know it’s pricey. Well worth it!
We were hoping for a great birthday dinner but the food came so late my mom,the birthday girl was to tired to wait for dessert. It’s a beautiful restaurant perhaps just for a happy hour.
The appetizers were insanely good! The service was great and we had an incredible time. The entrees were less than great but not bad enough to ruin the experience (the saving grace was the catch of the day and the specialty vegetables). The chicken entrees were enough for two people to share (skip the Dirty Chicken entree entirely). The ambiance is amazing; such a classy place.
The Hemings Other Way is a MUST have beverage. You might consider dessert elsewhere.
Wife and I got the taste of the month. Chicken and waffles and shrimp and grits temperature was not ideal. barely warm. By the length of of time between the different meals, they seemed to be short staffed in the kitchen. The rest of the experience was good; however I would recommend hands down the National harbor location. DC location needs some fine tuning.
Succotash (the gallery place location) has been CLOSED for several months now and I went on the first Brunch (On Sept 11th) as they reopened as an official steak house (Succotash Prime). I was a bit nervous because I know that restaurants can be rusty after not doing something for an extended period of time. I have also read about (and personally experienced) the horrible experience of going to other restaurants in DC post-covid-quarantine who are short staffed of servers.
I am HAPPY to report that my brunch experience at Succotash was just as awesome as it was since I went last summer. The older black guy (the one with the bald head...sorry I cant think of his name now) was there and welcomed us per the usual and the experience from then onwards was familiar and awesome. We had a GREAT server, the brunch cocktails were delicious and the food was also great!
I now need to make my way back down to Succotash to order a steak to see if it's really PRIME!
Had a nice ambiance for brunch, food was great everybody loved what they had!
No fried chicken was a bummer, but it was great otherwise
Deviled eggs were unreal we put in a second order
Food was EXCELLENT!!!
Luv'd the salmon pitcher of Bella Peach snuck'd up on me too
Fantastic job with social distancing measures, great bartender, and classy service.
Everything was great; the lobster benedict keeps me coming back. I also felt they were doing a good job maintaining social distancing and trying to keep everyone safe. QR codes that can be used to access the menu and touchless checkout really helps to minimize contact. Awesome experience!
Marginal at best. Slow service. Food just ok. Dessert was delicious. Took some home.
Great food and great service! The staff was able to seat us early and our server was attentive and knowledgeable.
Very poor service. Very few customers yet our waiter took our order , delivered our food and never came back except to ask if we wanted our check. We ate here in December and had a great experience and the waiter was great. Conversational and truly was great. The lunch menu is not as good as dinner and the quality of the good reflects. Don’t know if we will return .
Succotash had great food. The service was nonchalant though. Our server kind of left us alone for a long time. I had to lasso another waiter to get a second beer. A minute later our server arrived and handed us the check and asked if we wanted dessert. Kind of odd. I told him we just ordered drinks and he shrugged. I had catfish which was very well prepared. My daughter had a cheeseburger which was solid but not exceptional. I am not a whiskey guy so the cocktail menu was not very appealing. The beer selection was, I thought, weak for a great beer city like DC. Overall, it was worth the price but probably not worth a return visit.
While the food was tasty, we were disappointed in the service here. We expected more for the price you pay.
We had a very nice dinner at Succotash! The food was fresh and on point. Being in the front of the house in the restaurant business myself, I take notice to how the staff interacts with customers. I was not impressed. My husband and I are very easy to please and quite friendly. We both felt that most of our interactions (hostess, food expeditor, server, etc.) were okay - some were kind of smug. I still left over 20% gratuity because I do realize it could have been an off day, but definitely took notice. We had dinner at another restaurant the same weekend and the friendliness of staff made the meal.
i had an issue with seating (even though I had already made a reservation, with a special request). The waiters/staff was very accommodating . Even though we waited to get the seat we needed, the service was overall fantastic.
My husband and I were celebrating both of our birthdays, for the first time after we got married recently, as our birthdays are only 3 days apart. The restaurant provided champagne and free dessert on the house!
And food of course was amazing. We were there for weekend brunch so we ordered; mac n' cheese, Delta Bowl, steak platter, and fries. They were all so delicious. We definitely plan on going back and hope the service and food remains exceptional!
Food was great, but we waited over an hour and a half for food. We arrived for a 1:30pm reservation and did not receive our food until after 3:00pm. When they brought the food, they slowly brought each dish out one by one (meaning after waiting that long they had to return to the kitchen for each individual plate). They also brought one of the wrong dishes. The only compensation we received was a free dessert that we did not ask for. Very disappointing for a restaurant recognized by Michelin.
absolutely loved the decor and everything about the way it looked.
The waiter was having an off day and was a little testy. The food was good.
Be sure to make a reservation! Great restaurant with a very detailed and unique menu! Portions were huge! The short rib was fabulous and definitely shareable between 2 people! Chicken and waffles was outstanding and also could be shared! The wings were delicious as were the deviled eggs! The Hummingbird cake was giant and shared by the table...it was also delicious! Go ahead, have the cake! We forgot to take a picture of the cake before it was hobbled up!
The warm apple cider was amazing! We had the cornbread cakes which were a good snack to share among 2-3 folks. The seasonal jam was delicious. The Mac and cheese and the chocolate pecan pie were delicious. Most of the succotash options were very good as well. The roasted salmon dish was very good as well. The crab cake portion was very small as it was one cake. All in all, the food we ordered was very delicious.
The building was amazing and the food was phenomenal!
Excellent food, great atmosphere, unique experience
Very nice evening at this restaurant. We were a party of 6 with an additional guest and were accommodated in a cozy room that was perfect for our group. Everyone loved their selections from Shrimp & Grits to the Salmon or ribs. Waiter was attentive and cordial.
