The food was delicious and in a beautiful building. Only drawbacks were a limited gluten free menu and can be a bit noisy.

Based on my own meal—spicy fried oysters followed by chicken & waffles—I would have been pleased to grant 5 stars. However, my partner was clearly dissatisfied with his duck strudel: he said it was extraordinarily dull & he left much of it on his plate. We’ll go back but will avoid the duck.

Southern cuisine with a touch of Korean, this is a great lunch spot if you are looking for something heavy. The smoked wings are to die for, and the fried chicken sandwich is great.

Tried the Taste of the South, a 9ish-course meal. Servings were generous, and the food was delicious. The fried chicken and ribs were excellent, and the fried green tomatoes were the best I've ever had.

For drinks, their specialty is bourbon, which isn't my favorite, but the Gineous was great.

A beautiful restaurant, both upstairs and on the main level (and even in private rooms down in the cellar). The food is not necessarily my favorite type -- not something I would normally crave -- but everything I have had at Succotash DC has been very well done. This time I enjoyed the Old Bay flounder. It was cooked perfectly, with just the right amount of spice. A side dish of the bacon mac & cheese is tasty with great texture. Service is attentive and pleasant, even if without memorable personality. Definitely worth a few trips here to discover the menu and have some cocktails. They've turned this old night club into a true "space," a place to be.

Food was very basic and left a lot to be desired. This is made even worse by the fact that it’s pretty expensive. Got the chicken and waffles and waffle was tiny and soggy. Chicken was not very flavorful and they included almost no syrup- had to ask for more on the side which I saw the people across from us do as well so this wasn’t a fluke. Friend got the beet and goat cheese salad that was recommended by the waiter- no dressing and really plain. Also got a side of chorizo and collard greens- almost no meat. Cappuccino was worse than a keurig coffee but costs $5! Overall, very bland flavors and very expensive

This was my second time to Succotash. First went for brunch a couple months ago - was terrific. Then went for dinner - was great, too! Highly recommend. And, as a native Iowan, can't resist the doorhandles shaped like corn! :)

My friends and I were impressed with our experience and have already made plans to bring a bigger group for dinner. We went there for a girl's brunch and as soon as we walked in, we fell in love with the atmosphere and the gorgeous dining room. There are skylights in the main area which made everything bright and airy, and the entire place was beautifully appointed. The service was attentive and prompt and the menu was creative and appealing. Our food came out quickly was absolutely delicious. It was a mix of soulful, elevated Southern cuisine with an Asian twist. The biscuits melted in your mouth and there was a bit of heat from the Korean spices in some of the dishes. One of my friends and I split the Hangover Breakfast and the Pimento Cheese Burger; the pulled pork had some nice heat to it and even the ketchup for the fries had some Asian spice to it, which I appreciated as a nice touch. We split the Chocolate "Waffle" for dessert and it was scrumptious and beautifully plated. One of my new favorite places in DC!

Seated in The Vault. celebrating daughter’s 44th birthday. Wonderful experience from start to finish. Our knowledgeable server was excellent and took great interest in accommodating the preferences of grandkids 14 and 10. Food is scrumptious.

Great food. Service was friendly but a little off - a day we hadn’t ordered arrived at our table before we’d even ordered, drinks and coffee took more than 10 minutes to arrive, wrong entree arrived for one of us (although our server definitely confirmed the order with us initially, so not sure how that happened). Minor issues, though, and worth overlooking for good brunch and beautiful spot.

The food was amazing. We did the family style brunch and it was amazing. Portioned right so that we felt full but not overdone. The details in the food made the tastes over the top. Amazing comfort food with an Asian twist. Cocktails were great and extensive. The restaurant is decorated beautifully, in an old bank and kept some features of the decor and architecture.

We had seven people in our party for brunch, and so had to order the family-style brunch. It was somewhat annoying that they required this, but I can understand it from an operational perspective. It did give us the opportunity to try a bunch of different foods and believe me, none of us left there feeling hungry--it was SO MUCH FOOD! I don't think we left a crumb though, because it was so good. I also had a bloody mary and can attest that it was delicious. Others at the table also liked their mimosas and Irish coffee. Would definitely recommend coming here! It did get a little loud in the space once it filled up - there are basically no soft surfaces but the booth benches and there is mezzanine seating so just lots of people in a room with hard surfaces will do that inevitably. Overall very good.

Following up on a great experience at the National Harbor location, I chose the DC location for a friends get-together. What a great location! Service was wonderful (from reservation confirmation to dessert) and their bourbon list is impressive. I was a little disappointed with the chicken and waffles. The waffles were wonderful but the chicken (which should have been crispy and juicy) was certainly crispy - as in overcooked and dry. The pecan pie was good but didn't warrant a rave-about experience. However, the whisky sour was SUPER! I did grab a taste of my friend's burger with bacon jam. My first thought was "darn, should have ordered that!" It was yummy and deserving of a happy dance. Definitely getting that next time (and there WILL be a next time)!

Great space, friendly and helpful service, and fantastic food. I took a friend visiting from UAE to introduce her to Southern food (as a former Southerner), and we were not disappointed.

I visited Succotash twice in the last week. I would have graded it 5 stars across the board for dinner, but only 3 stars for lunch-so I'm giving it 4 stars. Dinner was excellent in every way. We had the cornbread cakes and special starters, flounder, catfish and salmon entrees and chocolate bourbon pecan cake for dessert. When we remarked that we liked the blackberry thyme jam, Chef Lee personally brought us some to take home! Our server, Colin, gave us a tour of the restaurant, which is beautiful. The restrooms, always a sign of how the establishment is run, are clean and attractive.

Lunch was a little different. We had the Delta Rice Bowl and catfish sandwich. When we asked where the catfish was from, we were told, "It's local, from the Bay." There are no catfish in the Chesapeake Bay, nor anywhere local. The food wasn't as good as at dinner, but still very good.

Succotash was almost empty when we had dinner (a very cold Wednesday evening) and more crowded at lunch the following week. That may have something to do with the level of service we received.

I highly recommend Succotash for dinner, and somewhat for lunch. The food and ambience are excellent.

Fantastic dining experience from start to finish. We loved the 8 course tasting menu. Enjoyed a brief chat as well with the owner/chef who answered some of our questions about how they did what we enjoyed: short ribs and deviled eggs and kimchi and collard greens. And fried chicken to die for. Such a great place.

I was excited to try this place out. I took my father for Sunday brunch. Unfortunately, we were both very disappointed. The Southern comfort food | Korean fusion just doesn’t work. It seems like Chef Lee is trying too hard to be creative. I ordered the Eggs Benedict , a classic brunch dish. Yuck! It was awful. The building is beautiful, but the food falls way short. :(

We loved the gorgeous space, the noise level (low for a DC restaurant, thanks to the soaring ceilings and mezzanine seating!), and the creative and well-executed tasting option.

Service was a little spotty; multiple issues with runners knowing which table the food belonged to (an issue when we ordered the tasting and had no idea what to expect), had to ask several times for water refill, would've ordered an additional round of cocktails if we'd been asked in time. Regardless, we'll be back and be recommending it to friends!

A most enjoyable and beautifully designed restaurant in an old bank. Congratulations on preservation. Food was even better with a creative chef that both understands southern food and that it can become a taste sensation with creativity and special preparations. Finally, the beverage director is to be congratulated on not only the best bourbon listing in the city but some of the most creative cocktails to enjoy. For once Setsima was correct.

I made a special request through Open Table when I booked our seats asking if they could prepare a birthday plate/dessert for my friend. It was too bad that they didn't ask me about it and no celebration at all at the restaurant. The food was good, the staff was friendly.

Excellent food and space. Stellar service on NY eve. The family style option was well worth it. At first it seemed like not enough food.. but then about midway through the entrees I was so full. It was incredible and delicious and I couldn't finish! Dessert was my least favorite thing. However, I could eat a whole plate of the fried green tomato salad it was so good.
Smoked wings were terrific and my husband devoured the ribs.

While it's been open since October, I didn't know it had until I walked by last week. We had a happy hour there with friends and then my partner and I decided to go back for an early NYE dinner before a show. It was great. Service was perfect and food is a great mix of Southern influence with Asian undertones. Food and cocktails were great, with only small hiccup being the Seasonal Vegetable (Spaghetti Squash cooked in Maple/Orange sauce with Goat Cheese) came out lukewarm. Mentioned it to the server who insisted on getting a new order fired up, which was out in less than 5 minutes and was perfection. From service to food, it's quickly become a new favorite and highly recommend it, even if it means it will be harder to get a table!

we were excited to try succotash, but it is definitely not worth it. the building has a great location and the space is beautiful. the food was awful - we sent back the shrimp and grits, which gave us some fun digestive issues and literally left a bad taste in our mouths. the drinks were nothing special and overly sweet. service was not great, but not the worst. it's far too expensive to have been such poor quality.
