The place was not open. I drove all the way there and It was CLOSED.
Reservation was available and confirmed but the restaurant was not even open. We went all the way in rain only to find everything was closed. Further they send us email to provide review, the system is so broken!
Horrible experience, sat for almost an hour no one brought us menus, drinks etc. And never saw the movie. We ended up leaving!!
We didn't really know what to expect. It turns out that you can see a movie and have dinner while watching the movie. We just had dinner. Next time we'll try the full experience. I had a NY strip steak that was tough but the mashed potatoes and roasted vegies were excellent. My wife had a ceasar salad with chicken and it was just fine. We will go again for dinner and a movie.
This is a cute boutique movie theatre that I thought had some really good food. they just have a few minor and one major problem to fix. Minor problems are, lighting, volume of the movies, knowing the selection of movies available.
The big problem is the poor service. I can get over the fact that we had reservations but still had to wait 10 minutes to be acknowledged at the door as well as understanding when it took 15 minutes for the staff to stop by and take our drink order. But I cannot imagine why it took 55 minutes for our drink order to be delivered, in fact our food order showed up about 10 minutes before any drink ever made its way to our spot.
I really hope they can fix this issue as the poor service really ruined the whole experience. I am not sure if we will be coming back here again. i hope the management takes the time to read these reviews and actually fix the problem.
Wanted a nice meal while we were in town visiting our son. (The virus has made this a challenge!) I was able to make a reservation at Studio One...we were seated in their restaurant, but this is a movie venue, too...could be fun for a future visit. My son is a vegetarian, and the menu had ample choices...all the food was delicious...and staff took good care of us. My son plans to visit again.
The place has a really cool set up for watching movies if you like shared couches. However, everything else is far overpriced. It's like being at a typical movie theater in that you pay high prices for only generic quality goods.
The theater was pretty nice, but through orders being taken.. almost every 5 minutes staff had to walk in front of us and we had to move to make room so they could hand out food. The restaurant had okay food at best, but overpriced for what it was. The service, and time to get the food was incredibly long having taken almost an hour for 2 sandwiches with fries.. I’d definitely see a movie there again, but I’d like them to change how they go about bringing food, or taking orders within the theater. I won’t ever try to eat at the restaurant side of it again though.
Valentine's Day meal was exceptional! Great live entertainment. Movie theater is awesome comfortable.
We did the valentine's dinner. It was $70 per person. The food was good but way way way too expensive for the amount. This should have been no more than $60 a person. We had soup/salad, very small steaks with each plate only having two and a half very small new potatoes, and then dessert. No drinks included. We could have eaten at many other places such as Chart House and gotten more food for the price we paid here. Nice concept but just way too expensive for the amount of food.
The service was not what you would expect. What they are trying to accomplish is doable but the service needs to be attended to by wait staff. The service wasn't a level expected for the price being charged.
Seams that that studio on overbooked and every moment I was waiting. I was very patient until the end when it took forever just to take the card. Even though there were ten couples waiting to be seated.
We had a reservation at 5:30. We arrived at 5:10. Did not get seated until 6:10. We could not cancel beforehand since there was a 40 dollar threat of cancellation (we tried to cancel four full days before the 14th but the app wasnt letting us). Nonetheless, we went in early. We ordered drinks. 35 dollars for a moscow mule and a long island ice tea. Pricey but whatever.
Basically, they put 15 tables in the lobby that was probably as big as our living room. So it was cramped. They took two of the unoccupied chairs and dumped our coats on the floor. No offer to hang it up. By then, waiting for so long, we ordered popcorn before the meal to quell our hunger. Popcorn arrived after dessert. This dinner is 70 dollars per head and the salad was very anorexic. The potato soup was a broth than a soup with not even a slice of potato. The steak at least, was edible. The tiramisu, I swear, Safeway’s tasted better.
The live band was okay.
As a whole, we would not care to repeat the experience. What was the point of a reservation if it wasnt going to be honored?
Upside: they had very nice paper towels in the bathroom.
Downside: everything else.
Takeaway: save your $140 dollars and go to Lake Oswego Grill. They comp your drinks and appetizers for an hour wait.
This was their first year with the Valentine dinner and they have a few things to work out. Food was good worth 100 a person after a small glass of wine?? But we enjoyed ourselves and that is what was most important. Thank you
I took my beautiful wife and surprised her on Valentine’s Day what is a passport to romance package at studio one and it was amazing had a great time to do it again and again
Very nice atmosphere & staff...food was delicious & decor was fun!
Despite being the only ones in the dining room, the service was incredibly poor. Our server actually said "sorry, what did you order again? I wasn't paying attention."
We had a great time there. The entertainment and services was great. Watched a movie and then had dinner while listening to the band. All in one location and couldn't ask for anything more.
Our favorite restaurant in Portland! I tend to be very picky and the seafood is always high quality and really fresh. The short rib pasta is also to dir for. Portland’s best wine list with some amazing values. The service is always spot on with nothing but mature professionals. Also it’s not only a sit down restaurant. It’s the ultimate date night with the coolest comfiest movie theaters as well. The only bummer is that you need to buy your movie tickets on line as the theaters are often sold out. Plan a little ahead and show up early if possible.
Great theatre and food is fabulous. The servers were so good, attentive, funny and responsive we have nothing like this in Vancouver
The food was unexpectedly wonderful, the service was perfect-attentive without being bothersome.
Cool space with great cinema rooms - love the concept !
We made a dinner reservation, wanting to eat at a table, not in the theater, and 40 minutes after ordering were informed could not eat at our table, had to eat in the theater. Or maybe SOME of the food MIGHT be ready, she needed to check twice. Kitchen was "too backed up". Also two of the five entrees were not available. Server changed 3 times. So we ate in the theater with trays on our laps. This was NOT a good experience. After being open a year, this place clearly needs new management.
Went for Xmas dinner. They were super busy. I feel bad for the folks working that night. Our server was sweet but swamped. Anyway it is a nice place. The food was tasty but overpriced - $6 for two buttermilk biscuits?!? We loved the ambiance but probably won’t do dinner there again because of the price.
The server forgot to get our water 3 times in a row. It also took a very long time for the food to be brought out. The food literally came just when we decided we were going to leave. Food was pretty good but overpriced for what you get. We only went for dinner this time and have never been there for a movie. Would not return unless for the novelty of watching a movie while being served dinner at the same time.
Great place. Good food good service. Fun atmosphere.
Fantastically wonderful experience. Very soothing and comfy environment
Great food, service, atmosphere and entertainment.
Friends anniversary. Our waiter and the entire staff was excellent!
This place may not look like much from the outside, but it’s an amazing set up inside. The theater areas are beyond anything I’ve ever experienced. Super cool.
If you love poor service, overprice good food, overprice and terrible drinks, you will love this place. Here you can sit and wait for eternity for just water, when the server show up you better hurry and order because he will not be back for very long time. I've been there 3 times and every time service have been terrible, food is good but significantly overpriced. After giving this place few opportunities I decided I will never come back, I can tolerate poor service, watery drinks and warm beer on a cheap place but not when the bill is $300+.
Our surprise started when we realized they were the same owners of Vinotopia! I have to thank my friend Neftalí Rivera for inviting us to celebrate his birthday there, it was an unforgettable event with puertorrican music, delicious food, excellent wines and lots of good friends to share with. Wait for us, we’ll go back soon. Thank you, Sharon for the classy tour of the different theaters! You’re very kind and professional!
5th time visiting. Wine maker’s dinner this time- fantastic pairings! Combined with the wine- the 7 course meal was absolutely outstanding! Worth every penny!
Absolutely a great place to dine. Great staff. Love the food and just the overall atmosphere. Thank you!!!
Studio One is a very comfy place to see a movie! The facilities are modern and the decorated "screen rooms" are both elegant and comfy. Everything was overpriced, however. The mixed drinks were about double normal bar costs.
We arrived over an hour ahead of our film's start time to have dinner in the restaurant. It took nearly a half hour to order, and an additional 20 minutes to be served, so we barely made our film's start time. Both of our dishes were underdressed and my wife's pasta was cold when delivered. It was supposed to include 'spring vegetables' in the pasta, but that was simply a few slices of summer squash. My short rib ragout was supposed to be dressed with some veggies, but was just meat, pasta, and tomato sauce. The portions would have been decent sized for the price, if the meals were complete. We had Brussels sprouts with dinner and they were fantastic.
Before the film started, wait service came to our seats and we ordered drinks and dessert. The drinks arrived promptly, but dessert didn't arrive until an hour into the movie. We'd thought they'd forgotten about it and then it appeared.
Overall - I would recommend seeing a film here but, like Cinetopia before it, the food isn't worth it. Eat beforehand and get a better meal for less, or a decadent meal at the same cost somewhere else.
The live music was so fun - really enjoyed Mike & Ben’s style & musicianship! Hope to come see them again! The brussel spouts & eggplant dishes were yummy!
Puerto Rican music added an energetic vibe to this modern restaurant sharing space with a luxury movie theater. We were there for music and food and were not disappointed. The beef ragout is fabulous. Great range of wines.
Michael (our server) was fantastic!! He made sure we were very well taken care of ..
Jason was soooo great in helping me book the tickets for a most perfect evening.
We had a fabulous experience at Studio One Live. The food was outstanding and the live entertainment was amazing. The theaters themselves create a wonderful ambiance for viewing a film. We will definitely be back!!
Experience was better than anticipated. Michael, our server, was great and very knowledgeable Food amazing. The flavors were great. Live music was a nice bonus.
One thing though, my last name is Starks. Email came back with former last name. Please change. Thank you.
Looking forward to next time.
