The studio is a must every time we are in Orange County. Every aspect of the experience is exceptional. Venue, furnishings, staff and food and drink are without peer
Ocean and sunset view at one of the most elegant relaxing tables in town! Be prepared to spend $$$s but experience is worth it!
Was a perfect evening. Views, silent service, incredible food.
We celebrated my darling husbands birthday at the Studio recently with our son and daughter in law. From the moment we entered the restaurant until our departure, we were treated royally. Our waiter was knowledgeable and professional, offering wonderful suggestions. We dined on fabulous oysters to begin our meal, followed by a delicious truffle risotto. The salads were beautifully crafted and so very tasty. We enjoyed the Seabass and Salmon, both with creative, savory preparations. Our drinks and wine were lovely as well. It was another memorable evening in our album of special occasions. Thank you to the wonderful staff for creating the superb dinner/evening.
Our waiter Saul and his team made the evening special. They were helpful yet unobtrusive. The prix fixe menu, which provided for substitutions from the à le carte offerings, more than met our expectations. Our sommelier Gary, equally accommodating, introduced us to wines from regions new to us that matched the spiney lobster, farmed abalone, sturgeon, char, etc. note for note. While the cost tracks great seats at the Metropolitan, dinner at The Studio is an inspired operatic experience nevertheless. Besides, could the setting sun be a better backdrop?
Another fantastic dinner at the Studio. The food was creative and satisfying. The service was phenomenal as always.
Amazing venue overlooking the ocean. Great wine list and knowledgeable sommelier to help negotiate your way through the book! Wonderful overall experience, we will definitely recommend with no hesitation.
Perfect location and professional attentive staffs.
Seems over rates
Always reliable for a special event.
Everything was perfect: the setting, our wait staff, the food. We will be back.
The service is truly wonderful! It starts the moment you get out of your car. Always such a treat, and we come here frequently. We went this time for Valentines Day. It was a prix fixe menu which was fine since we have come Christmas Eve and it was the best meal ever! This one, not so much.. The selections just didn’t have the expected special flair we’d come to enjoy here. I didn’t appreciate not having the option to not have the wine pairing with the meal. For one thing, one of my guests does not drink wine... secondly, the wines presented, mostly the red blend that came with the beef was just bad. There should have been an option on this. Actually, it should have been noted by our server that we had many glasses of woine on the table that were untouched. It was disappointing.
Great food, disappointing service (at this price point). We were frequent visitors with the previous chef, our first time with the new chef, and the food was wonderful. Flavorful, fresh , new, nicely presented. Wonderful vegetarian choices, delicious seafood. Sadly, the service has really tumbled. What was once seamless is now clunky. We sat 15 minutes before someone asked us about our dinner preferences. Another 10 before the wine choice. Another 5 before cocktails. The sommelier was great - wonderful recommendations. But then the cocktails and wine - served at the same time? We had to ask for bread service, now 30 minutes after being seated. We had to ask for our empty cocktail glasses to be removed from he table. We had to pour our own wine. No one came by to ask if we were enjoying our food. Unrelated to us, the service prep are had three major glassware crashes - incredibly loud. All of this is absolutely not a problem for a $100 dinner - we spent $500 (for two), so yes, we expected more.
One of the best food ever!
Exceptional service in a beautiful setting. They had a visiting chef unbeknownst to us when reservations were made. It was Italian cuisine which was good but not great, and the wine pairings were again good but not great.
I look forward to another visit when their usual chef is in house and wines can be selected from their excellent wine list.
We had an amazing time from start to finish at Studio celebrating our anniversary and birthday, from a service standpoint the best that I can remember! Upon sitting down, I needed to use my phone light to read the menu and someone came by to give me a high tech lamp that had multiple options for lighting. We had three servers and when being served all our food arrived at the exact same time. The presentation and taste of the entrees were superb, it could not have been any better! I also asked for a window seat which we did have right in the corner of the restaurant, so everything seemed spacious and open. The servers were very pleasant, not overbearing and a bit humorous at times so it didn't feel stuffy or too rigid. In fact, the servers seemed to be quietly there at the exact time we needed them. We will definitely come back again! I highly recommend the Studio and is now our most favorite restaurant for fine dining. This goes down as one for the ages!
My favorite restaurant in all of OC! Food is always delicious and the service impeccable...Love the outdoor seating for the amazing views. Highly recommend especially for a special occasion.
Celebrating my husbands 60th. The dining was outstanding with a beautiful view of the sunset.
This was dinner right after I proposed to my now fiancé. They were so hospitable and kind and gave a special engagement treat at the end.
Consistently the best fine dining experience in Orange County. We enjoyed a five course meal paired with wines. Roger was outstanding with service, making my wife’s birthday one for the memory books!
This place is absolutely amazing! The risotto is fabulous as well as the pork belly. The mixed green salad is a great first course option as well. I had the lamb which was great. The chocolate ball and the macarons were delicious desserts. And a wine selection like I have never seen, seriously more like a wine novel. The best service I have ever seen as well! Max, Eric, and Saul were great waiters. Highlight of the our trip for sure. Couldn’t recommend this place more!
Thank you for a memorable anniversary dinner
One of the finest restaurants in OC, if not the best. Fabulous location, fantastic view, impeccable service, perfectly prepared menu. Everything is perfection!
Very disappointing this year. New management has taken value cuts to benefit them but not the customer. We have been making Christmas Eve dinner a tradition for years and looked forward to the amazing menu. This year, however, Studio had a pre set holiday menu...no choices. Portions were much smaller, and not as ambitious as in past years. Not worth the high price. We will not be going back.
Extraordinary! Service was world-class and cuisine perfect. Delightful.
We were seated by the kitchen and there was a lot of kitchen noise. They turned up the music and it really helped. Our drinks were great as were the drinks and the staff. Our oysters and kampachi were very good. The salads were a bit ridiculous. They were huge pieces of lettuce that were not easy to cut and no dressing. The main dishes and desserts were just ok. I had eaten here many years ago and remembered it as being very good. This experience was not bad at all but also not worth it. I will not return.
Great food and great service. The restaurant is overlooking the ocean and the view is amazing. Highly recommend the time you can see sunset. Only small complaint is that our table was in the same room as the bar, and people at the bar were a bit loud.
Not as outstanding as previous visits. The atmosphere and service were still spectacular. But the cuisine was disappointing, especially the white truffles, which seemed very mediocre, particularly given the $100 charge for a risotto dish with white truffles shaved on top. We wished afterwards that we had complained about this while at the restaurant.
Everything about The Studio was excellent. Our server (Georgia) payed attention from the start to when we left. We mixed and matched from the tasting menu with the regular menu. The White Truffle Risotto is worth going to the Studio on its own.
Chef does an excellent job bringing the natural flavors of food to life. Very light and delicious vegetarian/vegan menu. The kohlrabi truly looked like scallops but not and tasty. I can’t even begin to appreciate the inspiration and thoughtfulness that went into the menu. Really appreciate the dairy allergy accommodation. Jamie provided outstanding service and company to a single diner.
Fantastic location, view, food and service. We had a new menu to choose from that was nothing short of amazing. The Service is impeccable (thank you Jamie!). Try the tasting menu - the chef has knocked it out with a selection of specialty items.
Studio was underwhelming. Nice space, good service (seemed like more staff than guests) but the food was well below expectation and slow getting out of the kitchen. Wouldn’t go again and would not recommend unless you are okay overpaying for average food.
We had the tasting menu and overall we both felt it was very disappointing given the very high price $185/person). The Rockefeller abalone was the wrong combination. The antelope filet was flat. The lobster was overcooked. We've had much better tasting menu with more courses (our all-time favorite is Providence) at the same price. There was nothing innovative about the tasting menu courses and they seemed to be prepared by a chef-in-training. Notwithstanding, the service was excellent!
Fabulous birthday celebration
We ate outside with heaters
Just after sunset
Great wine list and service plus outstanding food.
We were so looking forward to going to the studio. When we were arrived with a reservation we were put at a table that was close to a function so all we would hear is not the ocean but someone singing. We asked to be moved . There were a lot of open tables on the other side but, we were placed inside.
We ordered our food looking forward to a wonderful dining experience.
The service was terrific.
The food was mediocre. My guests and I were surprised at how lukewarm and relatively tasteless all the the food was. Caesar salad was good.
We have gone to the studio in the past and have loved every thing we ordered. I don’t know what happened between last year and this year perhaps there’s a new chef? But I will not be coming back. This is a very very expensive restaurant and the food was not worth the money.
Probably the best view in all of south Orange County. The service was impeccable, the food however wasn't great. The abalone was so chewy it's almost unedible. We tried the tasting menu so I'm sure other dishes are fine. The fish course was really good, I would go back but order off the menu.
