    Definitely NOT FINE DINING. We were shocked to discover that the fine dining atmosphere and the dress code on their website was 100% misleading. 4 years ago, we had a wonderful experience in their back dining room. After discussing the situation with the manager, I learned that the back dining room had become mostly a special event area and there is no way to guarantee seating there in the future. The manager was totally unaware of the dress code on their website site. I can only describe the current ambiance and service as a modern very casual cafe. Do make any special effort to wear business casual and expect a true fine dining experience. Also, don’t be surprised about other customers wearing sweaty tourist or sports attire . For me, Stone and Webster is off my list especially as a fine dining experience. It’s just not worth paying fine dining prices for a very casual cafe experience.

    We usually love the food but not this time. I had a crown and soda. I think the soda was flat, no fizz. Lime wedge didn’t come as requested. I got up to get it. Snapper had an odd taste and did not taste like fresh Florida fish as I was told it was. Large asparagus (the larger, the worse the taste and tenderness). Husband’s steak had an odd spice. His salad was great. Macaroons (as a happy anniversary nod) were nice but they were stale. Our dessert (banana chocolate peanut butter something) was frozen solid, could not get a spoon into. Disappointed as we usually have a good experience.

    Jean Pierre was the penultimate! He was attentive but not hovering. He anticipated all of my questions and he was a master of recommendations. He paired my filet and my husband’s porterhouse with the perfect wine for each. The chef cooked each cut perfectly to it’s intended. We received a lovely birthday dessert and we just had a lovely romantic dinner unfettered by noise, not constrained by time, and paired with yummy food. Jean Pierre though was the highlight because he is the example by which all fine dining staff should aspire to. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

    Birthday dinner! Mark--our server was personable and professional. The food was outstanding, and the tiny birthday cake was a nice touch. Portion sizes were great. We took some home for lunch the next day.

    We loved our visit to Stone & Webster. Our service was amazing, and so was our food. The steak was perfection. The vibe of the restaurant is a 10/10. I will definitely visit here again when I’m in the city.
