Food was excellent. Would like to see expanded menu. We don’t eat fish or pork, so there only two other choices
First visit and very enjoyable. We ordered from the Taste of Hamilton County prix fixe menu
($36). The value was amazing. My husband had the octopus appetizer, Korean ribs and strawberry parfait and I had she-crab soup, salmon, and flourless coffee cake. Both of us were delighted with every dish. The coffee cake was more chocolate-y than coffee flavored so they could call it flourlesss mocha cake and thereby capture the coffee and chocolate lovers' vote.
We ordered a bottle of red Conundrum to drink and were tickled to find it was a liter instead of 75cl. The screw cap came into its own, so now enjoy this easy wine tomorrow night as well.
Gretchen, our waitress knew a lot and quickly returned with answers to our most penetrating questions. Kudos to an incredible chef.
We all enjoyed our food selections and the decor and ambiance are very nice.
Outstanding food! The preparation and presentation are always excellent! We took newbie's with us and they were very happy with their choices. Continue to hope more people find it and become devoted to it so it doesn't go away!!
Bring back the butternut squash caprese! So good! Love it and locale
The food is amazing and they offer a nice variety.
We enjoyed two salads and wine. You have the option of salads, small plates and full entrees so they can satisfy any appetite level. The menu changes seasonally. It does not have ordinary meat and potatoes type food. If you like to try new things, this is the place to go in NE Carmel, easily accesible from west Fishers and south Noblesville too
Don't let the name fool you! This is not a brewery with bar food. It's a casual chic restaurant with a good beer and wine list and a seasonal menu of interesting culinary creations. They recently changed the set-up of the restaurant to provide for a separate bar area with high-top tables with very cushy, comfortable seats. This is a neighborhood gem, in a easy-to-miss spot, with an unfortunately deceptive name! Try it; you'll like it!!
We went to Stompin Barley on the recommendation of a friend. It did not disappoint. We had a table of 6 and we all had to share a bite of each others food, it was so good. Overall vibe of the place is good, food is displayed with a flair. I highly recommend Chef Kyle's menu!!!
Our first time to experience Stompin' Barley tonight. The Pulled Pork Egg Rolls were really good! The Filet and Beef Medallions were cooked to perfection with great flavor! The Cajun Sweet Poitato Fries were super good but spicier than we thought they'd be but very good! The Brussel Sprouts were also fantastic; crunchy like I like! The Chocolate Cake was good but a little dry. We added Ice Cream with it and it was so good with the fresh brewed Coffee we ordered. Our server Lauren was knowledgeable and very attentive to our needs; refills were there before we asked and service was great! The restaurant itself was nicely decorated and very clean. Beer and wine only! We're goin' back!
Nice local restaurant. Good selection of wine. Very good food
The food never fails to please us. The chef is innovative and his menu shows this. His Devour Menu was excellent. Patrick our waiter was very good.
Waiter was very attentive and equally as accomadating. My initial thought was $38.70 was pricey for a glass of wine, salmon salad and tip ... but the salmon was VERY fresh. Often times when you get salmon on a salad at other restaurants ... it is fishy, not tasty and there is nothing exciting about adding it to the salad. I typically do not eat fish as I am vegan. (If necessary, my only protein exception is shrimp and salmon.). A vegan burger addition to the menu would be real nice! To be candid, The Local has a vegan burger and Four Day Ray has a vegan burger, so I frequent them. I would dine there, again.
The wine menu and it was fantastic! We had the fillet and salmon. It was honestly the best cedar plank salmon I have ever had in my life, the flavor was amazing!
Great atmosphere. You HAVE to try the grilled cheese appetizer. Go ahead, you deserve it!
For my mom's birthday, I took her and my aunt's to Stompin' Barley. I had been there twice before, but they had not been and loved it. We all had the salmon and a nice bottle of wine. Service was great!
Our first time in and it meet all our expectations. The food was very good. My husband did wish that the lamb more but other than that we were pleased with everything.
The lamb chops were exceptional. A respectable wine list with reasonable prices for full bottles. My wife choose a seafood dish and was very pleased.
Perfect as always. One of the top 3 restaurants in the greater Carmel, IN area including those spots (i.e., Provision) along the 86th Street / Keystone corridor. If you haven't tried Stompin Barley, you are missing out on great food, wine and exceptional service from local owners. Forego the chains and dine at Stompin Barley.
Service was slow at first. Food was good. Manager noticed service was slow and inquired to see if it had improved. With that gesture I will return again.
Quaint , smaller restaurant,. Food was excellent...chicken gnocchi dinner plate was phenomenal! Service was good also. Definitely recommend this restaurant for a couple's night out.
Great Restaurant. Found it on Open Table. Menu looked good and we are always looking for new places to try. Food very good, service friendly and knowledable. Busy but service good. Attitude of staff, grateful that we were there. Menu not large
But enough to satisfy most people’s taste. Nice ambience. Stoppin Barley did not dissappoint.
Nice find in east Carmel.
Great as always! A gem to experience!
While the menu was interesting, the food prep did not support it. There was a few minutes wait between my son and daughter-in-law getting their food and my husband and I getting ours. His lamb chops was lovely, the scallops (daughter-in-law) was average. My son's shrimp was spicy, but not advertised as such. My chicken gnocchi was disappointing. The chicken was grilled nicely and flavorful, the gnocchi was dismal and not eatable. It should never have been on the plate. The roasted squash medley was good, but somewhat sweet and very similar to the squash and mozzarella caprese salad.
Greeted warmly by owners during Devour week. Great to see the restaurant hopping on a Saturday night. Our waiter was friendly and informative. Husband went with the lamb selection off the Devour menu. I’m not a big fan of lamb but this was delicious! I chose the scallops and they were perfectly cooked. Both dishes had a nice presentation. To end the evening I had the flourless chocolate cake. I loved it and not being overly sweet, I was able to enjoy it with the last bit of Cab left in my glass. Thanks for an enjoyable evening!
Wonderful place for a delicious dinner.
Very nice local resturant
My wife had the filet, I had the lamb chops. The filet had no flavor. The lamb chops were bland and they were on top of a huge mound of lentils that dwarfed the chops. We are willing to try the brunch because it sounds great, we won’t have a repeat of the meals tonight.
First time at the Barley. Excellent food and service. Highly recommend this place for a great experience.
Went there for the first time for Devour Indy. Lots of wine choices, in addition to craft & domestic beer choices. The scallops were delicious - the best scallops I have ever had - the whole dish was delicious and well prepared. The flat iron steak was ordered medium, but came well done, and sent back to the kitchen for one that came out medium. The service was very good. We will definitely return for drinks, small plates, & the scallops, of course.
I went here for Devour Indy. The first two courses were amazing. I had the beef tataki for an appetizer and it was fantastic and very tender. Then I had the flat iron steak with potatoes for dinner and it was cooked perfectly and had a lot of flavor. The potatoes were also seasoned deliciously, and I really enjoyed them as well. For dessert however, I chose the tiramisu Panna Cotta and it was absolutely horrible - I could not even finish it. It tasted nothing like tiramisu and there was no coffee flavor at all. It was 2 unsoaked lady fingers that had no flavor with basically a chocolate cream jello. I was very disappointed in the dessert because I love Tiramisu so much but I didn’t like this rendition.
I wanted to like this restaurant. . .had a good experience last summer with it. Came with some friends in the winter for the Devour Indy menu (fixed price discount meals). Tab with moderate alcohol came to $150 per couple and it just wasn't quite good enough to justify the price point. Veggie wonton appetizers were flavorful. My 6 oz lamb chop was gristly and without much seasoning. Side of mushrooms and au gratin potatoes was fine. My wife enjoyed her scallops. Dessert of flourless chocolate torte was just ok and without the berries promised on the menu. . .wife's pannacota/"tiramisu" (wasn't anything like tiramisu) had an odd off-putting firm texture and was left half-finished. Service and ambience were fine. It was an acceptable meal, but at that price I expect something memorable which this just wasn't.
The food was very good but we were disappointed with our waitress who needed some training.
We went during Devour Indy so there was special pricing. The place prides itself on wine. Had wines by the glass at the bar while waiting for table. Pricey but good. Food was fine but not overwhelming. Not likely to return as is not convenient and not compelling enough to seek out.
Everything was wonderful, food temp could’ve been hotter, especially considering how slow they were that night.
My family and I (9 in all) went to Stompin Barley to try out the Devour Indy menu. We were greeted by one of the owners. Everything we ordered was amazing. Between our orders we received at least one of everything on the menu. The Tuna, Scallops, Lamb and Flat iron steak. We shared and we all agreed it was well prepared. The portion size, the taste and the presentation was well worth the cost. We highly recommend Stompin Barley.
This was a 50/50. Some aspects of the restaurant and the meal very pleasing, others left to be desired. Slow night. Good if you want to be left alone.
First time dinner.
Great small to large plates choices and perfect for sharing.
Service was excellent.
Plan to come again.
It is a very nice restaurant. I think they will regret the over 21 only decision.
Terrible service. Food was cold. Creme brûlée was awful.
