The theory of rural inflation is proven once again. This is a very good restaurant serving very good food but it can’t possibly be one of the best 100 restaurants in the United States. I have eaten in and reviewed fine restaurants around the world and there is no way that this falls into the top class. What keeps Steve and Cookies by the bay from being a five star restaurant? 1) Presentation. It is barely above the dreaded “food on a plate” category, it is far short of artful. 2) Attire of assistant waiters who all wear printed black tee shirts, fine at the shore but it is not the dress of a 5 star restaurant. 3) Blatant racism in work expectations. Waiters almost all seem to be white work at a good pace and take the time to be pleasant, assistants in black tee shirts work at a frenzied pace of a car wash as if expecting to be fired at any second. Almost all of the sub class appear to be Hispanic. This just isn’t seen anymore. Very good meals and very good service in a rather plain atmosphere, solid 4 star stuff.

Wonderful dining experience with exquisite food, wine and attentive service. Came on a Monday night for a friends get together for dinner and wine. The lobster mac and cheese was delicious with pieces of lobster in every bite. Menu is also accommodating for my vegan friend. Every bite from appetizers to dessert was delicious. Would love to come back and would highly recommend to others. Love the overall decor and ambiance.

Once again Steve & Cookies proves itself as one of the best in New Jersey. It’s a must go if you are in the South Jersey area. You will be hard pressed to find a better spot with the caliber of food they offer.

Went for my Birthday, great choice! Didn't have to wait long for our table on a busy Saturday night. Food was delicious. Lamb chops and crispy tuna roll for appetizers were great. Entrees were the double stuffed pork chop-amazing! Thanksgiving on a plate-yum! Sea bass was also wonderful and the entree sizes were very generous. Kate was our server and she was fantastic. Dessert was brownie pie with vanilla ice cream and a sample of pecan pie. Prices are reasonable considering the amount of food, how good everything was and the great service. Ambiance was also very nice. Definitely recommended.

We always look forward to dining at Steve and Cookies esp for a special occasion. Have been many times. Food was wonderful as always on Saturday night - We had shrimp, oysters over grilled Romaine (yum), cowboy steak and short rib plus dessert assorted samplers - a great way to get a little of everything. Our issue is service - second time we have had this waiter - not good - always in a huge rush - not professional. He asks you a question about what you want and rushes off before you can blink your eyes. Brought the wrong cocktail out... he should know that a Manhattan is brown and not clear like a Martini - no apology = just said it was not his fault. I heard the table of men next to me asking him to describe the oysters - they asked twice (most restaurants they do this ) - he was unable to. I do not like restaurants where the servers give a dissertatation about each item on the menu - but this guy is he opposite - he spends no time telling you anything - just seems rushed . Really detracted from our experience quite a bit.
