Brunch menu is delicious. So hearty and delicious. We had Locomoco and Chicken Fried Steak.
Seemed to be understaffed. The waiter was working hard and was very pleasant and helpful but it was hard for him to keep up with all the tables he was serving.
Nice selection of beers, and food that will please any type of eater in your group, all done quite well.
Server is always late to come ask for drinks/check
I've been here several times before and always had a great meal and service. Today's lunch was such a disappointment. The service was awful. It took the waiter 15 minutes to acknowledge us and ask for our drink order which took another 10-15 minutes to get. He asked for the order of the table next to us which was significantly later than us. When we finally got our meal, he never came to check on us or fill our drinks. It then took us three times of asking for our check to get it.
Brought my clients there for drinks and dinner and it was very good. The service was good, the food was good and so were the drinks. Sausages were great. I would go back again.
Delicious burgers and amazing donuts for dessert! We loved the booths - easily fit our party of 6 for a casual dinner. Love the decor. Our waitress was adorable and very helpful. A very good experience- we will be back!
Food and especially the beer was tasty. I’ll definitely come back!
This is a potentially great spot, but they need to work on the ambiance inside the restaurant and set up a new heating system for winter months.
We arrived for a 7pm reservation just after Christmas to celebrate my birthday, and found the inside temperature to be do cold that we all had to keto our winter coats on.
Please set up some indoor heating that prevents your diners from freezing on a cold night.
The schnitzel, St. Louis ribs and fried chicken sandwich were all delicious, as were the hot cider and gluhwein cocktails that helped warm us up.
Our server was amazing, and the Jameson bread pudding was a phenomenal.
Nice atmosphere. Great selection of food. Overpriced, mediocre food.
Best food near Castro, parking right up the street, and an $8 kids' meal that was worth it.
Friendly staff, good food, great beer! I look forward to returning.
Very good food and service. Loud room but it works. Will be back.
Great environment - food was good/okay (Not enough variety ordered to gauge) I'll go back though as I like the environment very much! I had wine (a good glass) - friends had beer -we were all happy!
Best burger in town! Fantastic chicken wings!
Great food - my husband had the sausage plate and loved it with the craft beers our fabulous waiter recommended! The truffle fries are to die for... Can't wait to go back!
Service is consistently poor.
Ordered the chicken schnitzel and was so happy with it. Amazing dish and great flavor!
Good service as well. Lots of great beer on the menu
Slow service when busy - servers who are confused- food is so so - got the burger, fries were cold
Our server was not friendly and did not check on our table at all. Other servers of other tables ended up helping us. We waited a long time for drinks and even longer for our food.
Nice atmosphere! My specific Server was fairly attentive and really nice. We really enjoyed her service. The hostess is on the other hand or a little snotty. And at times, I could see that they were being rude to patrons. That kind of sucks. But the food was fine and the beer selection was great! Will definitely be going again.
Quick to seat us. Nice location. Nice layout. Enjoyed my time there.
Great food, friendly staff, loved sitting outdoors. It did take a bit long to get our drinks each round. But that is really the only semi negative comment I could give. I will definitely return.
Food quality considerably dropped. Not what used to be. For example, ordered a medium-rare burger and was served quite over cooked. Table of sausages, bread was quite brown (almost burned) and potato salad was not well cooked.
Service was really poor. Had to ask 5 times for water to be served on the table for kids. Same to order food, it took a while for our waiter to realized we wanted to order some food!
Food was not served at similar time, we had to wait more than 15 min to finally all have our plate.
Good food, good beer, dog friendly. Down side is that the patio becomes very crowded with loud beer drinkers standing around and bumping into the tables where you are trying to eat dinner. Would be better if the outdoor dining and outdoor drinking areas were separated.
We had reservations even though there wasnt much people. It was hot inside no fans, we went outdoors. Our african american waiter never checked on us and never came back. Another waitress brianna saved the day and helped us out the whole time. We couldn’t order beer flights because they ran out of cups because people steal them? And they refused to put in other small cocktail glasses so we dan have flights.
Options for vegetarian options is just so limited given that we live in the bay area and not somewhere midwest!
I won’t go back. Too loud, poor service and expensive mediocre food. The Tied House down the street may be less hip but would have been a better choice. So disappointed!
Drinks and appetizers took about 45 minutes. Waitress left on a break half way through. Didn’t get coverage for us. They’re getting used to a new, cumbersome order taking system. The screen is so small that the waitress couldn’t see our order on one screen, and we only ordered 5 things. I’ll try the Tied House Brewery Cafe across the street next time.
Asked the waiter about the “fresh fish” special. He said it was “market fish”. Asked again, “uh, salmon”. Had the short ribs. Giant fatty pieces covered in salty “gravy”. Nasty polenta. Even the pretzel with pub cheese and the truffle fries were bad. Tomato bisque? Also poor. Cute place, great beer selection. That’s it.
Monday on NBA game evening.
It was extremely hot inside. Very uncomfortable.
Server disappeared and we had to get other servers to wait on us.
My son moved to Mountain View 2 years ago and Steins quickly became a favorite - so much so that I’d prefer the sure thing of Steins to trying a restaurant I haven’t been to.
This time the noise level was high upon arrival but it seemed that altho the din was in the background, the 5 of us, once in in the booth, had no trouble hearing each other.
Steins food is good and they have a great selection of beers rotating monthly. Their burger is a custom blend of beef cuts with good taste and juicyness. I ordered Maytag blue on my burger for $2 extra and Inwas disappointed at the small amount of cheese added. My wife had the pastrami reuben which was well done. The menu could benefit from some more dishes or daily specials.
The beers were excellent, the food not so much. Thank you
Party of four and dog outdoor dining on a Saturday. Initially in a sunny spot and requested shade. Very accommodating staff arranged. Expansive draft beer selection and wide appetizer options. $150 plus tip
Great and unique food, great service, and fun ambiance. We took our kids and they liked it too.
Delicious food and extensive beer selection!
Came to watch the NCAA hoop games. Service was good but the food was just ok. Different people ordered the burger, chicken & waffles, and salads, which we all thought were okay - except the Chicken & Waffles which got 4 stars. We were surprised they were out of two beers which is strange for a pub that prides themselves on drafts. Seems like a good place, so we'll give it another chance.
Service was great, food and beer were good. The place was a bit loud.
