The menu options for the Steak Loft include lunch and dinner, but also the quick bites served up in the friendly lounge. A full-bar service allows guests to pair any meal with a cocktail or beer, yet it is also a very family friendly establishment. The main menu includes delicious fresh chowders and bisques, freshly prepared salads, steaks, ribs, chops and enormous seafood plates. The Steak Loft is also noted for its combinations of meat and seafood and the desserts are sinful and popular, especially the chocolate flour-less torte, and homemade bread pudding.
Service was great, and food quality was fantastic!
Delicious dinner from salad to coffee, very good service, wonderful atmosphere. Return visit after several years away. Did not disappoint!
We were there for over an hour and a half, took over 20 minutes for drinks, missing some food when it finally came out. Food tasted different than usual, more burnt. First negative experience there and have been going for a very long time!
Very dark and dingy. Extremely outdated decor. Windows were filthy. The salad was the best part of the meal. I would call it a tourist trap
The Steak Loft is a "go to" that has consistency on its side. The food that you enjoyed 30 years ago is still the same food that you enjoy today. You will not be "WOW"ed by the food or the atmosphere, which also has. not changed in 30 years, but you will be satisfied and feel the nostalgia.
While the interior decor has not changed, the restaurant is kept very neat and clean and is still inviting. The service is good with pleasant servers that have worked there for many years, which is indicative of good management.
If you are feeling nostalgic and looking for solid food - the Steak Loft is a great place to stop.
Went years ago and loved it. Now... smaller portions, closed salad bar, dated decor and funky smell ruined that memory. Never going back.
Great service and food
We enjoyed the Steak Loft so much we went back a second time during our 3 night vacation in Mystic. Each time the food was great, the choices are plentiful and the server was wonderful! You get a lot for your money - hardly any restaurants these days give you both a salad or soup and a side, and at the Steak Loft they even let you pick two sides if you didn't want a salad or soup. There were also several salad and soup options, not just a basic garden salad and soup of the day. Our meals were perfectly cooked, the service was efficient but not rushed, tables were spaced out, and our servers and the hosts were pleasant. If we lived closer we'd definitely end up as regular customers.
Have been going to the steak loft for over 30 years. Food is always good. I had the stuffed shrimp. Miss the salad bar. The choice of side salad was good. I had the Greek salad. It was good size.
Priced too high, outdated. Waitress was great.
Fantastic restaurant! The service was wonderful, our waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu! I had to put a 4/5 on the restaurant ambiance because it was freezing!! Make sure to take a jacket but it was absolutely delicious, steaks were cooked just as I like it!
Must have been an off night. We haven’t been to the steak loft since they still had the salad bars. So thought we would try it. Service was ok. Server took our order then brought bread over. Rolls were decent. Salads came out. I got a garden with the creamy garlic. Wife got a wedge. Couldn’t see the garlic so asked for a side cup. Was told the garlic was mixed in the salad. It was but very little. She said she would bring me some more… never saw it. Food came out. I had surf and turf. Meat was cooked good, medium rare. Stuffed shrimp was over done, couldn’t get the meat unstuck from the shell. Stuffing was tasty, but edges burned. Got a twice baked potato. Appeared to be from the day before. Over browned and dry. Used my drawn shrimp butter to get some moisture. Wife got the shoulder tenderloin dish with Gorgonzola and butter. Her baked potato was served on the side, so all there was on her plate was the steak sliced with a lot of melted butter on the plate. No Gorgonzola. When we asked we were told that it was in the butter “see all the butter on the plate “
No sign of the cheese. She asked for medium rare. It was well done grey center. We mentioned it to our server, she said sorry. At that point we didn’t want to be one of those customers so we just went with it. I gave her my steak sauce so she was ok. The live music was good and the bread pudding was banging. Coffee was good to. Pulled it out in the end. 2 stars out of 4. Probably won’t be back.
Our server was very muffled due to the wearing of a face mask. She needs to make it a point to talk louder.
The service was a little delayed but the lack of kitchen staff, but this is an industry wide issue, and our server was a doll, and more than made up for it.
Good meal with friends. Seafood platter was good and salads and clam chowder were very good. Great server
