Noise level not good
Wish they had live music.
Outdoor area looks comfy and nice
Hamburger mealy. Could not even pick up. Could not eat with fork. Needed a spoon.
The food was wonderful. My mother and I both ordered the filet, and both were cooked to order and tasted wonderful. My wife ate the strip steak, and hers was also cooked to order and delicious. The server was nice and responsive, although at times he was persistent about offering to take plates away that we were still eating on. We dined here for my birthday and the birthday card left on the table was a nice added touch. All around, we very much enjoyed our experience and will be eating here in the future.
Food was horrible. We went when it first opened it was great now not so much. Portions are smaller than they were and prices went up
Overall a good experience, the appetizers were by far the best part of the meal. The filet was cooked so uneven that half was medium well and half was rare.
A high-end steakhouse experience without the high-end prices you might expect from the steakhouses downtown. The atmosphere is also more relaxed compared to your typical fine-dining establishment, which is actually quite welcoming and more accessible. Sometimes you want to have a nice dinner with friends but you don't necessarily want to put on a jacket and tie or try to act more sophisticated just to fit in. That's the kind of environment that Steak and Bourbon offers, and yet they still treat you with the highest level of hospitality. The food is outstanding. Steaks are cooked to perfection and while they offer a number of sauces and add-ons, the Steaks are so flavorful they can stand on their own. Dessert is not to be missed. The carrot cake is the absolute best I have ever had and the presentation you have to see for yourself to believe. I would make the trip here just for the carrot cake. It's that good. The service was excellent; well paced and attentive. Our server knew the menu and the waitstaff maintained our table at all times. Nothing was left on the table any longer than it needed to be which I appreciate. As far as steakhouses in the city of Louisville are concerned, with the value they offer here, I don't know why you would go anywhere else.
Great food and atmosphere. When something isn’t just right, they take care of it. Would go back and recommend to others. Love the location too.
We’ve dined there several times and both the food and the service are excellent.
Everything was absolute perfection!
First visit, will definitely go back. Loved everything about it.
The only complaint we had was the slow service for beverages. It took longer than most restaurants to have our alcohol delivered to our table. Otherwise, all was quite good
Our steaks were good but they were overcooked one was supposed to be medium rare and it was medium and one was supposed to be medium and it was done however they tasted good.
We were looking forward to seeing what the renovation had meant. This was our 60th wedding anniversary which was never acknowledged in any way. The ambiance is not good and well below white table cloth standards. Lining patrons against a wall with no way to separate from the other wall diners simply doesn't get it. Meat was cooked very rare when I had asked for medium. Presentation was bare and not at all appealing.
Service was OK if you excuse never having commented on what was a special night for us and which should have been in the notice since I used Open Table to make the reservation and comment..
Don't believe we will do this again.
Tasty food, attentive staff, excellent variety of food and drink choices. Looking forward to our next trip to steak and bourbon.
Food was great but music was way too loud.
Been there twice and great experience both times.
Food was good service very attentive.......
Great service but a little loud for a date night with my husband. We were seated at a small table in the middle of the room so it wasn’t very romantic 😐
Great steak and service with fair prices. Excellent wine and cocktail options.
Caesar salad uninspiring, all lettuce and little else, and huge. Steak was over-salted. Bread pudding was very good. Restaurant was too noisy. Service was excellent. You are not high on our list, however.
Great steakhouse that was packed on a Friday night! The filet was delicious, with the interior cooked to order as a medium, but the sear was a little overdone, with several charred pieces that were inedible. But, it was still one of the best steaks that I have ever had. The potato au gratin were delicious and creamy. A nice compliment to my crispy steak. My husband got the filet and colossal baked potato. He said that it was good, but nothing special. He said that my potatoes were far better. We ordered a bourbon smash and mojito as drinks. They were both very fresh, but my bourbon smash was a little too sour to enjoy. I would not get it again. The service was great and the red leather seating was sumptuous. It made for an excellent date night.
Great food in a vibrant atmosphere! We had heard good things and can report that it’s all true. We will definitely be back!
Good meal, good drinks, I would definitely go back!
I was very impressed with our dinner. We each ordered the 14 oz rib eye and it was delicious. We could have easily split one steak and had plenty to eat. The sweet potato, with marshmallows, bacon was my dessert - you have to try it.
Second visit in a week. Server was great and food choices excellent and delicious!!!
This was by far and away the loudest restaurant of this caliber I've ever been in. I would expect that at a sports or dance bar that served bar food, but this is a high end steak place. Extensive bourbon list. Good wine list. We did notice several 'typos' on the menu (which we did inform the front door staff about before we left - for the caliber of restaurant, someone did a poor job of proofreading).
Very large portions of all the salads and sides - they could easily be shared by two. The food preparation got mixed reviews from our group. Wedge Salads (2) and Caesar (1) arrived and were beautifully presented, but we were not even a quarter-way through eating them when our entree's arrived. Bad timing by the server/kitchen. The Pot Roast was tender, flavorful and a great value as the portion was enormous. The Raclette Burger was really overcooked (they had ordered mid-rare) and that guest didn't ask to send it back - just ate their Creamed Spinach side dish, which they thought was very good. That guest wanted to get out of the restaurant as soon as possible, so we could all quit screaming at each other to be heard. Another member of our group ordered 3 different side dishes as their entree. The Mushrooms with Goat Cheese were raved about as was the Grilled Lemon Broccolini with Parmesan. They ended up being somewhat disappointed in the Brussels Sprouts which sounded great in the menu description, but turned out to be overly seasoned with black pepper - so much so, that the bacon and brussels were overpowered. Our Server was attentive but we kept asking her to speak up when she spoke to us because of the noise level (and we are not elderly folks - LOL). Overall, we were disappointed in our experience. We would not recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting to enjoy a nice dinner with friends where you expect to have any type of conversation. If you just want to eat in silence, then this is your place. We won't go back unless we eat outside in temperate weather.
What a great place. Service was over the top, food was amazing and general atmosphere just pushes it over the edge. I think we will become regulars.
Our meal was fantastic! We dined with another couple and between us we tried the Steak & Cheese Hand Pies for an appetizer which were great. For our meals we had the Ribeye steak and Center Cut Filet which were both cooked perfectly and the seasoning was wonderful! For our side dishes we had the Potato Au Gratin and Mac & Cheese. Both were some of the best side dishes I have tasted. Also, my husband and I each had an Old Fashioned made by Callum at the bar. Kudos for a great cocktail! Thanks Steak & Bourbon for a wonderful dining experience.
First time at the restaurant for us. We chose a booth right outside the bar area. Noise level was light to moderate. Conversation was not a problem. Food (mine the short rib pot roast, my wife the baked chicken) was wonderful. Service was attentive buy not intrusive. Ryne, our waiter, was friendly and knowledgeable. This restaurant will definitely be added to our regular rotation.
Everything was amazing from the service and expertise of our server knowing the menu. The food was perfection! Super friendly and relaxing yet energetic atmosphere. Will definitely dine again soon!
Very impressed! Salmon was incredible. The crab deviled eggs are a must!
Food was amazing. Good drinks also
Noise level was painfully high. Conversations were shouted.
We can’t wait to go back! Food was tasty and the inside of the restaurant is beautiful. We also enjoyed the outdoor covered porch.
Food and service were excellent, even exceptional. Seating layout is okay for a casual tapas restaurant but leaves a lot to be desired for steakhouse dining.
Great service! Food was pretty good, but the service made the experience great!
It was fabulous! Service was awesome as was the food! Two extra people showed-up and the restaurant was packed. Somehow the servers handled it quickly and efficiently with no complaint. I love the place.
Steak and Bourbon is one of the most amazing places to dine in Louisville. I encourage everyone to give it a try.
the only reason I rated the food lower was the caesar salad we ordered was really lacking in flavor. Very little parmesan cheese, and the lettuce was so dry there was minimal dressing on it. We had to ask for more dressing which I don't think I've ever done. The staff quickly fixed it bringing more dressing. But I would say that was the only negative, other than it being a little pricey. Our steak was great, and the service was excellent.
