Staytion Market & Bar
Regional and seasonal creations fill the menu at this modern classic restaurant, enticing guests to return time and again.
Overall we enjoyed the place the tables are not on top of each other and the noise level was not load allowing us to hear each other. We were a party of 6 celebrating Xmas. Good selection of wine and beer and overall price was reasonable.
We were going to a show at the Chicago Theatre and could not find reservations anywhere so ended up here. It was mostly empty on a Saturday night while every other restaurant around was booked up. It's in the lobby of the hotel but noise was fine. Service was great, food was just ok. Many better choices in the area.
It was my first time at this restaurant. I had never heard of it before but I was looking for something near the Chicago Theater that was reasonably priced. What a cute little gem I found. It was a Friday night and there was a guitar player who was great. I completely enjoyed my whole experience there and will definitely be back.
We were staying downtown looking last minute for an alternative to the very expensive sites close by. This is the only one available which fit our palate.
Came for breakfast as we were very excited about the menu. Were a little disappointed in the taste of the food. So much potential with ingredients, but the taste was lackluster. Our server was awesome and tried to make up for our disappointment.
The location of the Renaissance Hotel is great and the restaurant and bars check off all the boxes! Great atmosphere, food, drinks and service.
Even though we had a reservation it was a “seat yourself” venue. The Prosciutto- Asaparagus pizza was great. The fresh crab starter was bland and forgettable. Manhattan cocktail was adequate. Menu selection limited. Was close to Chicago Theater so location was great. Service was attentive.
I went for a quiet Salad with a friend before a Saturday matinee. It met our needs. I had a decent Cobb Salad and a tasty empanada. I hoped it would be like the old “Great Street”, but it wasn’t even close.
Overpriced. We could hardly hear our servers over the crowd and they didn’t seem to pick up on the need to speak up. They disappeared for awhile. The food wasn’t great. Really avoid at all costs.
Location is amazing
It was convenient to the Theater and served our purposes. Excellent Mai Tai.
Food came out cold and was average at best although loved the atmosphere. Service was slow but server was nice.
Definitely misread the menu options when making the reservation and assumed that breakfast was available for brunch hours on a Sunday. That is not the case. Noon, the restaurant was pretty much empty and it was a lunch only menu. The menu is eclectic with some things being better than others. Soups and salads were good. Sliders were dry. Beverages were on the high side, even for downtown. Got the feeling that they were waiting on us to finish to close the restaurant for the day, which was odd at 130 PM. Not sure this one stays in our rotation.
This is a basic hotel bar with food. The food took way to long and we had to leave for the theater just after it arrived. They apologized for the late food and comped it as a result .
It was dead as there were a few shows playing at local theaters but it was a great dinner date.
The food was fantastic and the service was super accommodating. Will definitely be coming back.
Food was good. Loved the grilled octopus and the turkey meatballs. Would go back.
I made a reservation on the day of my reservation, received a confirmation, and then the restaurant was closed when we got there for a noon reservation.
Great service food and great table. I will return and share with others.
Great view. Tasty food. Good service. Very nice experience overall.
We had a great experience here including outstanding service from our waiter, Ahmet.
Wonderful quiet restaurant on a very loud St. Patrick's Day. Wonderful view of the river, wonderful food and great service.
We had breakfast here on St. Patrick's Day, and it was the BEST place to view the river being dyed green while comfortably dining. The city views are panoramic and amazing. We had the buffet, which was delicious and hot, and offered a large variety of choices. The staff was very accommodating of our large family with small children. I highly recommend!
Location convenient, but food ok. With a menu this small and a dining room only 1/4 full at lunch, it took too long to get served.
Family weekend getaway in the city. Perfect place for breakfast
Great service and venue was picturesque
We ate here for brunch after a stay at the Renaissance. The menu options were good and they offered a buffet. The buffet was more expensive but the quality of the food was fantastic. Two in our party ordered off the menu and were very happy with their meals. We had a table overlooking the river which was great. The restaurant is bright and modern. The service was really friendly and attentive. I would definitely return.
The SLOWEST service I have ever seen in my life. Ordered simple stuff, still waiting for it 40 minutes later. No "your meal will be out in a few minutes, "no "Sorry, we're really slammed," no "can I get you more water or soda?" They just left us to sit. I had to get up--not once but twice--and inquire where the heck our food was. Not going there ever again. And the food, when it came, it was substandard.
My friend and I work downtown, and wanted to try some place new for lunch. We were happily surprised that we could get a noon reservation at Great Street, figuring it was our lucky day. We were mistaken. Let me start by saying the restaurant is beautiful, with views of the river and boat traffic, and it's a great place for people watching, but it was practically empty. That should have been our first clue. Second, even with a fairly limited menu, they managed to mess up our food. We both ordered the same thing - cheeseburger without bacon, and fries - the only difference being the temperature (one medium, one well-done). Hers came as ordered, mine came with bacon on it. They were the same order - how do you mess that up?? Service was mediocre, the burgers were bland and boring, and the bill (no drinks or appetizers) was $35 - for burgers and fries. Don't waste your time on this place - there are so many great restaurants to choose from, and this isn't one of them.
Very nice atmosphere, everyone in our group loved and enjoyed their salads or other lunch meals. Salad size was generous and filling. Service was great too!
Not sure why no one else knows about this place! Even though it's in a hotel, the food is great and the view outstanding. Great place to take an out of towner to see the city. The whole room is beautiful. Check it out!
i ordered the caesar salad and the lettuce was almost white and hard -- the worst part of romaine. It ruined the lunch for me. Why use the worst food if the restaurant is almost empty?
The room is lovely. It overlooks Wacker Drive and the river. Even though it was gray and rainy the view was beautiful. While we only had sandwiches (or handhelds as they're known nowadays), they were delicious. The bread was fresh and the ingredients were plentiful and fresh as well. The odd thing is the room was entirely empty except for my colleague and me. We were told they only serve breakfast and lunch as they host evening events in the room. If you're looking for a spot to have a quiet, delectable lunch with a view, I highly recommend Great Street!
Great Street? Great view for sure...great food and service? Not so much... Everything was "OK" but if you are in the city you expect more. Food and service were what I define as unrefined and sloppy. Take it from me and take a take a pass on this place.
Easy breakfast spot, close to the Chicago River and Lake Michigan, good views, buffet and menu choices.
Great Street is Great again (at least for us!). We used to eat here fairly regularly as it was on our list of places to dine prior to going to the Goodman Theatre and for any occasion when wanted good food and a place to converse. We stopped eating here when it stopped dinner service and when we got tired of the menu. I am happy to say that, after a long hiatus, our recent visit was very much a success. The restaurant's recently revised menu has many interesting choices (from typical lunch items such as sandwiches and salads to dinner-type entrees), and the food we had was well-prepared and tasty too. Service was also very good. The view of the city and river is wonderful, and it's just a comfortable, enjoyable place to dine despite the size of the space. The biggest drawback for us is that it still only serves breakfast and lunch. We'll definitely be back sooner than later.
Limited menu & very heavy outside of salads. Food was well prepared & tasty. Attentive service.
Went there for a Mother's Day brunch. This is a hotel restaurant, I believe the Renaissance. The place was surprisingly quiet at noon, primarily hotel guests. This was probably expected by restaurant management, thus the brunch buffet was a bit humble. No carving station (just some pre-sliced deli turkey and ham), and no egg omelet station. There was some cold sliced salmon with fixings, tasty enough. Several selections meat, a potato dish and scrambled eggs in covered warming trays, no complaints there, eggs were kept fresh enough. Below-average dessert selections, about 5-7 different choices.
Pros: Very relaxed pleasant environment for a Mother's day, with great views of the river. Attentive service as a result. Price was $28/person without mimosas ($35 with). Not bad but I'd rather pay more for better selection.
Cons: Sparse selection compared with other Mother's day brunch buffets. As a result, half the party opted for ala carte menu. Two ordered burger plates, medium, however the meat appeared to be a stack of fried frozen patties, making it extremely difficult to cook to anything less than well done. Would not recommend this item.
My family went on a late Sunday morning. My kids ordered breakfast off the kids menu, I had the breakfast buffet, and my husband ordered a burger. The kids got their food quickly and my husband waited for a long time for his burger and when it arrived, he realized it was not the burger he ordered. The rest of our family was done eating by the time he was served the correct burger (which they did remove from the bill). The kids enjoyed their pancakes and waffles, but the only thing worth having on the buffet was a made to order omelet and fruit. Everything else was either dry (baked goods) or incredibly greasy (meats and potatoes). It was hard paying $27 for an omelet and fruit. It was a great view, but many tables we could see were empty but not bussed. There were only a couple of tables with diners but a messy dining room.
A great experience at Great Street! We were able to conduct a business meeting without sacrificing service, quality, or atmosphere.
