State Road Tavern & Restaurant
I wish I had known about the time restrictions on the "sleigh ride" I was very excited to do the ride and we missed it by like 5 minutes. The sleigh ride was the reason I booked the reservation. So I was a little disappointed.
Calamari was good. Salads (apple and house) were both very good. Tuna tacos weren’t so good. Steak was overly salty and a little thin but cooked right. I wish they would wait until we are done with our salads before rushing out the main course. This is very aggravating as the servers stand there with the plates waiting for you to move other plates out of the way for them!
Wish they could correct this.
I would recommend as long as you know this isn't 5 star dining (except the prices). The room feels like an airport hanger. Next time I've adjusted my expectations and I'll eat in the bar upstairs.
We did Valentines dinner and really enjoyed everything about the restaurant. They even gave each lady a rose when leaving after dinner, a very nice touch.
Service and ambience was terrific. Food was less than expected. The manager was very kind and attentive to my issues. I will try this place again to hope for a better meal. It's a beautiful venue for a concert!
First and foremost, the food was excellent !!! I'm having a hard time deciding if this is supposed to be a five star restaurant or just a fancy two star joint. The facility is very nice and again, the food was great. The part I'm having the difficulty with is that everyone seemed disorganized and none of the staff were very friendly or helpful. Also, with the looks of the"fine dining" atmosphere, the staff was very under dressed. The menu food selection was ok, but I wish there were more options and the prices are definitely near the five star mark, which I'm not a big fan of. Overall, it was a good experience, but I do not plan on making this my first dining choice for this area.
We were in Park City for skiing, accidentally during sundance film festival. It was hard to find a place that could accommodate our group of 8 due to the amount of people in town. I found this place on open table and had no clue about what it was going to be like. To our surprise, our group of 8 had a private room, with a private bathroom. We all felt very special, and it was nice to be able to relax and not worry about our noise level. Would recommend for larger groups!
The food was great but pretty overpriced for what it was. We had reservations which we showed up 20 minutes early for. We were promptly seated but no one acknowledged we were there for 35 minutes. We waited 40 minutes for our food after we ordered. They gave my wife the wrong order when they finally brought us our food. The ambiance of this restaurant does not out weigh the price of the food and the service you receive.
The setting was beautiful. The food was great. The service was terrible. We had a reservation at 615 and did not get our food till 730. Our waitress only came once to check on us which was about 650. She brought rolls and was asked to bring back refills and never came back. We had to ask other bus boys or workers for refills on our sodas several times. One of our orders were wrong and it was never corrected. Only a steak on a plate and potatoes were ordered but never came. Everyone else got their food at 730 my own plate arrived at 745. We were planning on going to Bill Engvall at 8. We didn't even have time to eat all our food and our check was late and we ended up finding another worker so we could pay for it. We bairly made it to the show. The lights went off just after we sat down. We were not the only table getting our food very late. Several tables were waiting anywhere from 45 min to an 1 hour and 20 minutes. We felt like upstairs was only getting service and this restaurant was too understaffed. I would eat here again or have my company party here if the service wasn't so terrible. I should have checked more reviews before I booked ours because this seems to be a very common problem. It was good food in a beautiful setting. What
We wanted to have dinner before we went to an event in the DeJoria Center. It was very conveniently located, they take reservations, and they had a pretty wide variety to choose from. Servers were nice, attentiveness decreased significantly when they got busier. I would go back!
Good food and service. Nice artwork on wall, but room felt large, cold/cavernous and a bit noisy.
Again, food was good; we had the wontons as appetizers, and the elk special. Food came out fast and flavorful. The Elk tasted great but was a bit overdone. I think next time we will try the Tavern (upstairs) as the room looked a bit cozier and quieter (lower ceilings.
Great meal. It was a quiet night at the restaurant but service was really good too. Very enjoyable.
My wife and I went to State Road with our two young grandsons who rarely agree on anything and are very stingy with praise. As we left the restaurant to return to our car, they both simultaneously asked when we could bring them back. As they observed, and we concurred, both the service and the food were excellent. And yes, we will take them back soon!
It was ok nothing special
This was a challenging night, on many different levels. However, Heath and Janelle helped save the night! Janelle is always a great server and tonight she went above and beyond to make sure we got where we needed to go. Heath also went well above and beyond to help us save the night, thank you for your amazing generosity!! We love this restaurant, the food is awesome, the service is awesome and the ambiance/setting is awesome. If you are not visiting this restaurant, you are missing out, truly! Thank you Heath and Janelle, you are really the best of the best!!
Our reservation was for 6:15. We were seated promptly. We did not get our food until 7:40. 3 of the 5 dinners were cold. It wasn’t a good experience
Waitress was never around. Had a concert and waited 15 minutes to get a bill along with several others. Waited another 10 minutes and ended out giving the hostess cash for what I thought our dinner was so we didn’t miss the concert. Waitress should have asked if we where going to the concert and if we wanted anything else long before the concert time. Ruined our whole experience. We never saw the waitress after taking our order. Boys delivered dinner. Had to ask other back waiters for bitter and ranch dressing. Don’t know what ever happened to the waitress
The food was delicious!! Unfortunately the service was poor and our waitress forgot to get our order or forgot to put it in multiple times. We had to continuously flag her down. Also, the ambiance was less than ideal. The room was too bright and felt like a banquet hall.
We eat here often. The new menu is great and the setting can’t be beat!!
Overall it was good!
The wonton taco appetizer was excellent! We finally had a chance to try a dessert and the peach crisp was great, not too heavy. This place never disappoints, the food was great, the service was great and the atmosphere was heavenly. We weren't here this time for brunch, but have been and can definitely recommend the brunch, as well as the dinner. You simply have to try this place!!
We have been to this restaurant a few times. The menu has changed since we were last there and I just didn’t think it was a good. Mind you we weren’t especially hungry but needed something. I opted for the soup (a chicken corn tortilla style) and the house salad. The soup was fine, nothing special and we had to ask for the tortilla strips to top it (they were advertised as part of it). The salad has excellent heirloom tomatoes but was pretty small for $8. My husband got the soup and the baby kale salad with salmon added. We were brought a wedge by mistake but he decided to keep it as the salmon was just a piece brought out separately in a dish. The salad was ok...had to get more dressing as there was a lot of iceberg and a drizzle of dressing. No biggie. The worst part was the salmon. Oh it had a foul taste. Not fishy but tasted spoiled. After two bites we sent it back. They were extremely nice about it, the manager came out to find out why it was sent back...very nice guy. They did offer us dessert on the house (wasnt necesssary, but a nice gesture). Overall, I’m just not sure i would go back. I miss the old menu and wasnt impressed with this one.
Great restaurant very convenient before a show at your excellent venue
Love this place! Great views, great service, and excellent food! I had the Salmon entree and it was delightful. The other people in our party had the burger, the Filet, and the MG Dip, and everyone stated they thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Such a great place, overall. I would recommend reservations, depending on the event/reason for visiting, as there aren't a lot of tables inside but there are tables outside (weather permitting). Definitely a "must try" establishment!
Great Service, Great Location, Food was good...the chicken with white corn was too small of a portion... Will definitely go back...just won't get the chicken next time. :)
State Road Tavern at High Star Ranch is one of our favorites. We were there for both Mothers and Fathers Day brunch, and the buffet was wonderful. The kids love it because they can play in the yard, around the water fountains, big trees and even throw the ball around after we eat. The prime rib at brunch is off the charts. The Ribeye we had last night was delicious, as was the kale salad. Even the cornbread and kids cheeseburger was big and flavorful. We'll keep going back, for special occasions or just for dinner with the family.
Please offer vegan and GF options. Most chefs are happy to adapt menu items for these
requirements, but a couple of pre-designed dishes - already created and on the menu - would be make it a perfect 10!
Great venue. 5 diners with great food for all. Excellent service. Will be back soon
So I was so excited to go here. We sat down and I was in heaven. It was beautiful, there was a band playing, the atmosphere is perfection. I want to love this restaurant, but literally we waited two full hours before our food showed up. Refills hardly ever came, no one came to explain what was going on. The restaurant was pretty full and no one had food. We had a one year old with us and luckily she was an angel. We had decided if our food didn’t come by 8:00 we were leaving and about 7:56 the food came. My French dip was really good, but the tacos were cold...after waiting two hours. The waitress finally told us that she’d never seen it so busy. So our experience was pretty bad, but because of atmosphere I’ll give it another shot.
Long views of mountains, pretty grounds, airy inside, nice ambience, but the food is very average. Excellent for drinks in the upstairs tavern and/or meat, such as burgers or ribs, but the other dishes are boring and not well prepared.
Food was good last year but this year it is awful. Everything was cold and tasted bad.
The Sunday brunch buffet is mediocre quality and a bit pricey. The restaurant should go back to serving the old brunch menu, which was excellent.
It’s was a unexpected spread of food. So much to choose from. All delishes! Thanks for a great Fathers Day Brunch! See you next year 😁
3 out of the 6 plates were good and prepared exactly as described on the menu. The 3 that were bad were all the same...the smothered chili verde burrito. Two of the three people that ate it got sick and it wasn't at all what was described in the menu.
We love this place! Great menu/food at reasonable prices. Beautiful place in a beautiful area.
Food was great, not busy at all. A new employee, Heath i believe his name was, very nice gentlemen. Came and introduced himself, bussed our table, spoke to the family. Never had that sort of interaction before with anyone other than the server. We though it was nice. Great experience.
Our server completely ignored our request for Dijon mustard. We asked 2 other servers and they, too, seemed to forget our request, resulting in a wait of 20-25 minutes while my husband's hamburger got colder and colder.
When I ordered Club Soda with lots of ice, lemons and limes, our server delivered a huge plastic glass filled with ice and a bowl of lemons and limes; however, no soda. When I asked for the soda, it came with no ice. I asked for a refill and again, it came with no ice.
Our server attempted to refill my husband's water glass, missed the glass and poured water all over the table. I reached for my napkin, as the server left and didn't return for 10 minutes. So I want about cleaning up the spilled water. My napkin was soaking wet, so when the server finally returned, I asked for a new napkin. It finally arrived at the end of the meal.
Our guest mentioned that her pork carnitas were very dry and stiff.
Not the elegant birthday celebration I had hoped for for our guests. In fact, it was an embarrassment -- and one we won't likely repeat. Ever.
My only disappointment was that you had crabs legs on the buffet. without any utensils to get the meat out of the legs.. When we asked the server he said that there was nothing. My question is then why serve them? The legs could of been pre cracked to enjoy the meat. Other than that I really enjoy traveling to you establishment. I always tell my friends.
We have been a few times, and the Food is always fantastic. Great alternative the Park City food scene.
We eat here all the time. Cam is a sweetheart server, very personable, we love getting her. Food is always great, never have experienced a bad meal.
