The decor is very nice, the food was fresh and delicious with huge portions! We will definitely be back!
Whenever we have friends in from out of town, we take them to State of Grace. It never fails to impress. And just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, we had the incredible experience of having Dominic as our server. He took our State of Grace experience to an entirely different level. He knows the menu like the back of his hand, creatively described his favorite dishes from each menu section and made perfect recommendations for our group. Very entertaining.
Birthday. They are always awesome at State of Grace
The sticky ribs and rolls were excellent. I was also happy the had a cider.
I enjoyed my lunch here. I realize restaurants want energy in the room, but I found the music a bit loud for dining.
The evening was fantastic. From the time we walked in to our exit. Service was exceptional and really can't find a flaw in it. With regards to the kitchen both dishes came out perfect and tasted as the looked. Thank you for a wonderful evening and both of us look forward to return trips back. (New date night place!)
Music was just a wee bit loud. Food was great. Waitress was awesome
Went the extra mile to ensure we had a memorable anniversary, excellent food and service
I am in the food and beverage industry and would have to say this was the best meal I've had in my 33 years of life.
Sunday Supper was fantastic - food, ambience, everything. We frequent State of Grace but it was our first Sunday Supper and won’t be our last.
Table legs are too large. My wife and I had to put both of our feet to one side under the corner table.
Take me off of the private dining room profile.
Refill of iced tea and water were slow.
Not a good value.
My wife ordered a salad, fried chicken, 3 sides and a desert for $29.00.
I ordered a pulled beef tostada for $29.00. Not a good value. A desert was served.
Neither of us ate the desert.
Menu is not clear. Number of salads are not specified. Number of deserts are not specified.
We learned of the type of fish of the day by listening to the next table after we ordered.
Our server was training a first time server.
Bad decision on part of SOG.
Now you have two bad servers.
We have had better experiences as a walk in customer.
We were sitting at a corner table, which was very uncomfortable & dirty. When we asked the server to clean the table, she laughed & said a little girl was sitting here. We had lobster rolls, & fries were over fried & terrible. Terrible Service
We were greeted pleasantly upon arrival, we ordered the drinks, got them soon after, followed by appetizers. We ordered the meal before we received the appetizers and waited at least 45 minutes and two visits from the managers apologizing for the late food, assuring us it was on the way. There were 6 in our party and only 5 were served. The 6th person was served 15 min later. The food was good but one of the 5 had cold fries that were sent back. About 10 min later the hot fries were served. The food was good but not served together or in a timely manner.
Had a few hiccups along the way with timing of food but the staff is incredibly helpful and sincere with making amends. We went for Sunday Brunch and were helped by a gentleman named Justin. He was very nice and gave great suggestions. We generally go out on Sundays and enjoy Mimosas if you are on a budget do opt for an inexpensive prosecco or an alternative. I ordered Champagne and was surprised at closing with the damage but it was my fault for not asking. But that did not take away from the experience, well worth it. The main entree's were unremarkable but good quality. the appetizers were amazing and we spoke about them all day. So if nothing else come for appetizers and a drink!
This is a nice place to visit for a good meal and awesome atmosphere. The waiters are extremely nice and do their best to meet all of your requests. I would definitely go back to this restaurant.
Great food and service!
I've been here a few times before and really like the space. Quite noisy at prime lunch hour, better after 2. I had the fish sandwich. Although tasty, heavily-breaded fish inside a thick bun is too much. I'd suggest just grilling the filet or using thinner bread. The French fries were too salty. Enjoyed the crab hushpuppies. My friend said his gumbo was fine. Excellent service, we felt looked after.
Celebrated my 23rd birthday here with my family. Everyone had an amazing time. Our server was very informative and had great recommendations and the food was beyond expectations!
The waitress and manager are truly amazing here.
Good food, great service
From the time we were greeted by the valet to the time we left we felt valued. Dominique took such incredible care of us and made us feel like we were a part of his family. Every bite of dinner was impeccable. The cocktails were a sip of perfection. Take the leap and try the octopus! It IS the best in Houston. The corner booth we were in was a little uncomfortable at the feet, due to the table post, but the food, drinks, atmosphere and service made up for that.
Best in town if you are looking for taste and service
Service was outstanding. From the moment we were greeted, we were so very pleasantly surprised by how welcoming and charming -not only the hostesses- but many of the servers were. We were a party of four, celebrating a birthday. Our server -a young lady, sadly I cannot remember her name- was absolutely delightful. Not everything we ordered was great, but we did love the scallops, the oak roasted oysters, the deviled crab cakes and the tuna crudo. We did not like the Queso Oaxaca (very greasy) nor the Corzetti with clams, which -by the way- is not spaghetti; it is a type of medallion (small discs) shaped pasta, that tasted extremely salty and had no trace -or any taste- of clams. Overall, the food we ordered, including dessert, was great. We will -most definitely- be back, but will be asking more questions about the menu. The drinks were excellent!
the service was extremely slow, though attentive when they were with us & worked with our dietary restrictions as best they could. we sat for 10 minutes before a waiter came to take drink orders & introduce themselves. the blackened tuna was more like sushi than a tuna steak. i had the mahi mahi was nothing special. the Brussels were okay. the wedge salad had a nice presentation but taste wise was very basic. even for a lower price point I won't be going back though the ambiance is nice. i asked the bartender if he had real lemonade (as opposed to minute maid) & he seemed put off, said everything was real.
Great waitress and ambiance. Little pricey for lunch but definitely worth it!
Daughter’s birthday. Ir was out first time here and we were treated with warm attention. Our waiter was absolutely amazing (I think her name was Desiree) - she was super friendly and treated the BD girl to a non alcoholic cocktail. The food was divine - everything so tasty and beautifully presented. Great experience all the way around! We will return.
Excellent service, ambiance and food.
Redfish was delicious!!!
New Years eve
Very enjoyable New Year’s Eve dinner, nice set menu and simply a great evening
Best restaurant in Houston. Excellent service, food, and ambiance.
We had to wait over 20 minutes for our reserved table and once seated waiting a long time to be served. Food was very good but I expected it to be excellent for the high price.
This was our first visit and it was a perfect ten out of ten. The Blue crab hushpuppies, roasted oysters, and grilled fish (mahi mahi) with sunchokes and chard were excellent. Not one issue. We also shared a Felix cheese enchilada, which was deja vu awesome. Our server, Jade, was friendly, polite, and quite knowledgeable of the menu. I also send my compliments to the manager for the play list. Excellent mix. Go and enjoy this excellent restaurant.
The crab hush puppies were awesome. Everything else was mediocre. The kimchi fried rice was bland and lacked any other taste than kimchi. The chicken biscuit was ok but was not as good as it was the in past. For the price, it was sadly very little food.
Perfect place to celebrate a birthday meal. Dominic was awesome! He made the night special. Octopus, caramelle pasta, salads, scallops... everything was so good :)
One of the best meals I’ve had. Hush puppies are out of control.
The octopus and redfish are excellent. Service was attentive.
Had a great lunch experience. Service was perfect as we were just enjoying the day. So not rushed at all. Food was perfectly balanced in flavor and texture. Definately will be going back!
Our waiter Gustavo was wonderful!
