State of Grace
We visited on my wife’s birthday. Couldn’t have been better. Great food. Lovely ambiance. Just the right amount of buzz but quiet enough to chat. Perfect.
To die for!
Sunday suppers are a great value. The food was very good!
A late Valentine’s celebration. We enjoyed the Sunday Supper menu. From the biscuits to the desert, it was delicious. The wait staff was very attentive. The oyster selection was wonderful.
Kudos to Charlie and his fellow servers.
One of the nicest restaurants I have been to. From the entrance to the bar, the restaurant was just awesome to look at. They have a good selection from cold bar as well as the regular menu. We came here for brunch and had a great time
The decor and ambiance are very well done Andy comfortable. The service was top notch. The location and parking are easy. Only complaint is the very limited menu. If you are a vegetarian/vegan, this is not the place for you. Just too few choices in the absence of any new or creative culinary choices on the menu.
We went there for their Sunday brunch. Creole Eggs Benedict were awesome, and a bit of a surprise.
Shout out to the excellent service by Whitney! We’ve been there about 6 times and it’s always great food, service, and atmosphere. The could turn down the music a bit, tho
Really enjoyed lunch at State of Grace. Hush puppies and Roasted oysters as starters were fantastic. The Pizole, Octopus and fish sandwich were fully enjoyed by our party. Our server competed is a side of their Brussel Sprouts which are now a must every time we go. Go, you’ll love it.
Food is ok..... so-called fusion Cajun food. Very generic. Restaurant is very pretty, and waiters are very friendly
Great food and service!
Was rather average for such a high price. The food was cooked well but wasn’t anything to write home about or brag. Just rather plain in both appearance and flavor. I was expecting more because of the reviews and the price.
Overall very good experience. Food was delicious. Server was slow to come to our table initially so we had to ask for assistance. But, wait staff was nice once they came
The hush puppy appetizer was a great surprise as far as taste. Wonderful dish. The Covey Rise Beets with candied walnuts, mozzarella cheese, endive, and the beets made a delicious salad. Cheese enchiladas a la Felix, need I say more. The wood roasted scallops with crawfish etoufee was also splendid. Noise level a little much just concentrate on the food.
Great food - some Asian flavours which was very interesting. The grilled octopus was outstanding! Service was excellent
Exceptional restaurant. One of my favorites in Houston. The food is always unique, well prepared and... just outstanding. For the first time however, I did have a couple of dishes that did not meet our expectations. My "go to" item is always the hush puppies. This time they were good, but just slightly overcooked which meant as they cooled, they became hard and crunchy. We also ordered the strip steak medium rare as the chef recommended. The flavor was good, but the steak was definitely chewy and tough. I probably would not order that dish again. All in all, the rest of the meal was great. Enjoyed the brussel sprouts and the wedge salad.
Excellent service, delicious food and drinks. We got to visit and eat a wonderful lunch.
This was my first time going here for brunch. It was a great experience! Get the lobster roll.
Great food, service, and crowd.
Nicolle, our waitresses was fantastic!
From the hostess to the bartender to the server- exceptional! Great opportunity to show off the restaurant to my sister and brother- in - law... they were very impressed. Food, service and ambiance 5🌟
Overall terrific! Great service from Jordan who was attentive and helpful without being overbearing. The food was perfect, and the ambiance was just right for a nice date night. A little too loud at times, but that can’t be helped.
A great place to take someone special for a nice night.
Great restaurant... the seafood was very fresh, food was delicious and drinks were on point!
Amazing restaurant that is very reasonably priced for the quality of food and drinks that are served.
Great restaurant. Can be loud.
Great food, service was excellent. Dessert options were fantastic. Crab hush puppies were such a delight!
Great service and great ambience - good food. Will definitely be back!
Our table was ready on time with attentive waiter whose recommendations on wine and appetizers were on target. Background music a times was a bit loud. Overall, great culinary experience will come again.
I asked for a quiet table for four and got it! Paul, our server was excellent, and we would ask for him again.
Food was fantastic! Service was impeccable!! Can't wait to return!
We had a wonderful meal and experience thanks to our server Whitney. She was first class And we will be back for sure.
We had a very nice dining experience. All staff interactions were excellent. Notable was the happy hour price for a wonderful selection of briny, fresh oysters. The shucker did an outstanding job of not leaving flecks of shell in our oysters! This consideration is becoming harder and harder to come by but should be the standard as it appears to be at State of Grace. Dinner was very good.
Each month I find a different restaurant for lunch to take the girls in my family to. This month I chose State of Grace. There were six of us and we all thoroughly enjoyed our experience, from the cocktails, through dessert and coffee. The menu had a wide range of items to choose from. We each ordered something different and loved all of it. On a special note: we had the pleasure of Charlie as our waiter. He didn't miss a thing. He was there when we needed him and out of sight when we didn't. Charlie was professional, but made sure we had an enjoyable time. We would return again and again, and ask for Charlie!
Have been there many times. Ambiance is great, food is excellent but the waiter/waitresses are mostly a bit too “arrogant” for some reason. In our last dinner, I felt like I am dealing with my professor every time we had a question or request. In several occasions- not only once. When my friend kindly asked him what type of coffee it was, he responded “whatever type you ordered”!!! And obviously it was not hers as she was served cappuccino, even though she ordered an expresso. He then realized his mistake and didn’t even say a word. At the end, we were really happy about the food and our environment but didn’t leave with a good taste after all.
Service was impeccable... attentive, but not hovering, just the right amount! Food was reasonable, but nothing that I would characterize as memorable... same goes for the Sticky Toffee pudding and ice cream... again, nothing to gush over... the taste, or it’s presentation. My true rating for this establishment would be for 3.5 stars.
The food was outstanding! We had raw oysters, BBQ shrimp, grilled octopus, and the ravioli. All were delicious. We will definitely be back to try more items on the menu.
My husband and I visited with a gift card given by my son. We would definitely visit again especially enjoyed the Sunday dinner concept.
We loved the Sunday Supper! Our waitress was great and the food imaginative and delicious!
Food and Service were excellent! However music selection and volume for Sunday Supper was questionable. I don’t expect to hear LED ZEPPELIN on blast during Sunday Supper. They eventually mellowed the music selection out.
Everything was wonderful - from our bartender’s recommendations to our serverJordan. The food is always so good. The only complaint was our seating. I made reservations for 2 at least 5 days in advance and the hostess sat us at a table near the bar with a view of the kitchen. The restaurant was largely empty as we arrived right before 5:00 and she sat us practically on top of another table. They left and she sat another couple at the same table. It kinda put a damper on our experience. I will definitely refuse that arrangement when I return and am really sorry I didn’t speak up this time.
