State of Grace
The food was absolutely outstanding, every dish was well curated and planned. The service was impeccable, our waiter Dominique went above and beyond what anyone could of asked for, if you end up going ask for him and you will be more than pleased.
Will be coming back and recommending friends/family.
We always have the best time here. Colby (I believe was his name) was a new waiter and he did so well - he was attentive and very kind. Would def come back and request him as our waiter.
Love the food, the ambiance, and the service!
Great service and delicious food
Excellent food and service as always. We love this restaurant and leave each time feeling that we’ve been hosted by dear family.
This is one of the best new restaurants I have visited in a long time. When I say it is special it truly is special as I am very picky about restaurants. The food was excellent and the service was exceptional. The only negative was the sound level as it was through the roof. I could not hold a conversation with my dinning partner. We were told that next time ask for the small dinning room where it is quieter. I wll definitely go back but it will have to be in the small quiet room.
By the way the hush puppies are to die for. Order them as an appetizer.
Great customer service, great food, cookies on the way out the door 👏🏻
I took my boyfriend here for the first time. He loved it! Especially the hush puppies
Sunday night dinner.... Great
I ordered the Crawfish Benedict and not only was the dish lukewarm, the cornbread under the egg was so inconsistent that some parts were actually cold. Also, there was only about 3 little crawfish tails in the whole dish. I was starving so ate as much as I could because our server was so much more concerned with the table next to us who ordered a bunch of dishes and drinks.
The hush puppies were unlike any I’ve ever had before and they were so delicious.
Go for the hushpuppies - seriously! But stay for the chocolate cake. In between, order a delicious pasta. My husband and I ate here for his birthday last weekend and chose to sit at the bar (it's kind of our thing). We loved it! The drinks were phenomenal, the service perfection, and the food delicious. We'll be back!
This was one of the nicest dinners we have had! We got an early Saturday reservation which we thought would be a little lame, but it was perfect. We were seated quickly and both of us were comfortable. The woman nearby asked for a pillow to sit on to prop herself up a bit in the lower bench side of the table - I thought it was cool that they provided the pillow. We were given some champagne since we were celebrating an event which was very nice touch. We started with the hush puppies and grilled oysters - both were amazing. We have both had our fair share of oysters from New Orleans and these were just as delicious. The hush puppies were amazing too, they have a a dessert feel but were really enjoyable as an appetizer. For our main meals we ordered the Schnitzel and the red fish. The red fish was out of this world. We've never had anything that tasty or perfectly cooked. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. We shared a side of elote which was equally good. We really enjoyed the presentation and the flavor. We finished up with the toasted sundae and lattes. It was a great serving size and the meringue was very unique. The lattes were very smooth and we were able to sit around enjoying ourselves. The service was impeccable - our waiter gave very nice descriptions of the cocktails and food if we had questions and he has great suggestions when we were pinned between two choices. Overall we felt the individual servings sizes were nice, we were quite stuffed having added apps and sides plus dessert but very happy about it. They give out little oatmeal cookies when you leave - bring them home they're delicious with coffee the next day. Honestly, I normally wouldn't review a good restaurant, but this was such a phenomenal meal, some of the yummiest food ever, and we felt the value was great too! We want to go back it was so great. This was our favorite higher end restaurants experience in Houston yet.
Great restaurant with quality food and wonderful service. One of my favorite restaurants in Houston.
Friends getting together after a long absence.
New to Houston and was struck by this restaurants focus on food and dining. Loved the ambiance, very chic Texas vibe.
The service was quite good and the booth we had was lovely. Fresh oysters were beautifully presented, seasonal menu items were
Quite nice. Good wines by the class, lots of care in choosing. Would most certainly go back on another visit to Houston. Can’t miss at this lovely spot.
Amazing service. Dominique was ncredible. Ask for him! He recommends what's best.
The wait staff were amazing, very attentive and accommodating.
Server was a little slow with filling requests for ice tea and refills and check. Food was excellent...
Our server was marvelous. He was conversational without being intrusive and seemed genuinely concerned that we have a good meal and pleasant visit.
I've eaten here a number of times before---including the Sunday night special several times. This time, I was quite disappointed with the food. The biscuits were overdone and rather hard, the fish was way overdone and way too salty, and the dessert was quite tasteless. Luckily, the waitress was very nice and the wine we selected was good. As it was my birthday and we were taking friends to dinner with us, I was a bit dismayed. I'm wondering if there had been a chef change?????
Sunday dinner was fantastic. The wait staff was very attentive and the 4 course meal was perfectly prepared
We love State of Grace but have a suggestion. You should probably add a sleeve on the skillet handle you serve the shakshuka in. My girlfriend got a burn on her wrist from the handle even after the dish had been on the table for 5 minutes. Thanks ya'll!
Amazing food. Brought a newbie and she is planning to return with out-of-town guests. Great experience.
Delicious food and excellent service! Would definitely come back!
Great place to have a laid back meal . Good food, great service and nice ambiance. Excellent martini!
The street corn pasta, which is only on the menu when corn is in season, is the best thing I have ever eaten. But then again, everything at State of Grace is delicious!
Amazing from start to finish
Will be back here and I will tell others about the excellent experience
What a lovely dining experience. It was my son’s birthday and the wait staff brought champagne on the house to the table. The food was wonderful and the desserts were fabulous.
Innovative menu and great service!
The playlist ruins the European ambient.
But the service is great :) they helped us to celebrate such a good birthday.
The portions are enormous!
Best service ever! We were completely blown away with how kind everyone was to us. Can't recommend this place enough
Amazing food! and a beautiful restaurant!
We really loved the Sunday Supper - it was a great value as well.
The service and atmosphere for Sunday Supper was perfect. Pity about the food. The biscuits were anything but light or fluffy. I thought the salad dressing was salty until I met my redfish. Tasted like salt on more salt. Sent it back and got a lovely, lightly-seasoned fillet. But the dessert (menu said chocolate cake) was a thin slab of dry oatmeal bar with syrup. Inedible. The sides were forgettable. The dinner was regrettable. We took guests and were embarrassed.
Server was the best. The food is scrumptious
Very nice, good vibe even for Sunday brunch!!
The food was great, albeit a little heavy. The restaurant itself is beautiful inside, but there is a row of two/top tables where my friend and I sat and you are basically right next to the guests at the table over. It’s a little too close for comfort.
But Service was great and I would definitely go back and just ask to sit somewhere else.
Wonderful time. Great service and food. Will be back soon. Thanks again to the staff for a great experience.
We had a wonderful time at brunch yesterday. The food and drinks were outstanding. We started with deviled eggs, which I liked the touch of horseradish. the hush puppies were fresh and hot and the crab in them was a surprise. And then the heirloom tomatoes were firm, juicy and had a fresh off the vine taste. We continued with Crab Benedict, Huevos Rancheros, the Fried Chicken and sides of bacon, scrambled eggs and the punched potatoes. Everything was hot, fresh and we ate every bite of the food. We finished with the Toffee Pudding, which is more like a bread pudding with ice cream. Yes, we would go back in a minute and we are making plans to go for Happy Hour to eat oysters. They have a wonderful oyster bar with selections from all over. We tried six different oysters and want to try more. The oysters were cold, and the different varieties had such such distinctive tastes depending on where they were from. I had oysters like that in Paris at Weplers and was excited to see the same concept here. We all enjoyed our drinks. Excited to be going back soon.
Thank you for making our evening so special! We celebrated our 30 th high school reunion (Lamar High School). We were treated to a surprise glass of bubbly to toast the evening - what a lovely touch. The manager and wait staff were so kind and accommodating. Thank you thank you!
It was great. Food was delicious service was great and it had a fun atmosphere
Everything we ordered was awesome, and our server, Colby, was phenomenal!
We started with the Oaxaca Queso with Bacon Fat Tortillas which was out of this world.
Our main course was Duck Carnitas with Elote on the side, which was also amazing!
Overall, we were very impressed.
