Excellent experience for our party. The staff handled all of the complications of Covid protections with efficiency and grace so our dining experience was as good as previous experience here in the “Before Times”. So glad State Bird has survived.
Cant wait to go back for the next special occasion!
Phemomenal place. 10/10, would eat there again. Don't eat lunch because you will get a good amount of quail for dinner here!
Unique food! Can't wait for things to go back to normal!
Dinner was good, service was top notch and friendly.
Sezchuan-crusted quail was more tongue-numbing than I expected, but then, it WAS sezchuan-crusted...
GREAT meal - creative and well executed - aesthetic plating -
Seat my family indoors! Very friendly staff. Food was delicious
Loved all the food! So delicious. So exquisite. A really nice treat. Server was super friendly and accommodating, letting us know which options could be done in half portions, etc. We actually had many people helping us and everyone was really great. No cocktails, but lots of great wine varietals by the glass make for some amazing pairings! Got to try many things, even on the a la carte menu. Try everything!!
I was really disappointment that tasted terrible . They tried to create something different, unique taste; however, all dishes became wired and ruined their food’s original taste.
The outdoor seating is darling. There are small heaters for each seat and they were sufficiently warm. Everything was delicious and dinner was well timed. We didn’t feel rushed and staff were attentive with supplying fresh plates. Love that some of the desserts can be ordered with half portions. It was our first night out in over a year and State Bird delivered. Thank you.
Delicious food and great service! Such a treat after not eating out for the last year!
Disappointing. I’ve eaten at Statebird many times prior to Covid closing and was looking forward to dining there again with the opening. Must have new chef. Food not up to par. I was looking forward to the garlic bread with burrata. It is now called fry bread and has a “strawberry vinaigrette”. I thought that might be drizzled on top. But no. It arrives in a bowl of strawberry purée, slices of unripened strawberries, the burrata and then the bread, which was greasy. It was the strangest combination and I sent it back. Also was looking forward to the guinea hen dumpling. That is no longer on the menu. It has been changed to a duck dumpling. Filling and sauce was delicious but wrapper was so thick and chewy. Not sure the wrapper was cooked. The Red Trout was good but nothing special. The Oxtail was not fall off the bone. Served with a lot of fried tofu. Peanut sauce served in a bowl. Didn’t understand that presentation.
If this had been my first time there, I would never recommend or return. Sadly, I took a friend who had never been there. She did not understand the hype after our experience Saturday.
Sooooo good
Delicious food and excellent service! Highly recommend
We seated right away. It is outdoor dining as of right now. Covered patio was good. They even had heaters next to each table for comfort. Staff was friendly and quick. Our food and drinks were great. This was my first time eating out in a year and it felt like it was same before all the covid.
Continues to be my favorite dining experience in the Bay Area!
The duck dumplings and octopus salad are excellent. The bird, however is not savory enough. It is bland and not very flavorful . One can’t tell what kind of meat it is. It can be Turkey even
see what new dishes they created over the quarantine.
My best friend and I arrived on time for our reservation and was seated promptly. Our waiter was friendly and informed us of the specials, which we ordered in addition to many other things.
Our food came out pretty quickly, but it was sadly underwhelming. The original concept of this restaurant was small plates tapas/dim sum style, which was part of the appeal. The bigger plates missed the mark, and i found myself wanting less of each dish with each bite.
My friend and i sat, taking our time, sharing each dish. We waited almost an hour for our last plate to come out, but it never did. So when the waiter realized he forgotten a dish he said he could put a rush on it. At that point we waited so long, we told him we no longer wanted it.
The evening ended with them bringing me the toasted rice ice cream sandwich, which was not only a plesant surprise, but it was super delicious!! We finished up dessert, and asked for the check.
Then things took a turn for the worse, we paid the check, and as we were boxing one of the dishes the waiter comes over and asks us to hurry up and leave because people are waiting patiently for our table.
Uh ma'am, we just paid the check. we were literally getting up. It was completely unnecessary for her to say anything at all, since we were gathering our things to leave, and the only reason why we were there so long was because they forgot to bring something we ordered. We were celebrating my birthday after being quarantined for a year, the least they could have done was had some class, and let us leave the celebration with a smile, instead i was left with a bad taste in my mouth literally and figuratively. Won't be back.
This was my second visit to State Bird Provisions. The first time was amazing. This time was a little less amazing. To be fair, they are getting back to serving in person, but the flavors were not on point. I imagine things will improve as everyone gets used to in person service again. The servers were friendly but one was literally terrified of setting plates on the table. I had my mask down as I was eating something else, but I couldn't see him approach, so I couldn't raise my mask to make him feel safer. I feel bad that servers are anxious serving food. I hope everyone feels safer soon. I will definitely go back to give the place another try.
While not the dining inside with carts, the outside setup is great and everything we had on the menu was delicious! We'll definitely be back!
State Bird has created a lovely space complete with lanterns for ambiance, plenty of heaters to keep you warm and Covid mindfulness. The food is delicious-love seeing the sauerkraut ricotta pancakes, the trout was delicious and we had a tender and succulent charred halibut collar. Our server Robbie was so helpful with the wine selections and food advice. Having wonderful gems like this in the city makes me grateful to live in SF
loved every bit of it, from food to service. 1000% recommend
Everything was amazing. Outdoor Dining area is beautiful.
State Bird is always one of the best meals in the city. Even with the shift to the parklet and no carts the food and experience is still incredible. Looking forward to our next visit
The food was exceptionally delicious. Definitely going again sooner rather than later!
Delicious, creative food with impeccable service. Had one o the most delicious white wines ever.
The ambience is four star as it’s based on sidewalk outdoor seating with many foot traffic from local residents. Their interior seating would’ve been five stars!
They've done a nice job with outdoor dining! Great service despite the circumstances. Very tasty food, better then the dim sum style food actually. It's pricey, but worth the splurge every once in awhile.
One of my wines was a bit too cold - but other than that...outstanding all around
Wear a parka! Heaters are not allowed on sidewalk so reserve table where heaters provide warmth.
Amazing service and outstanding food! I love everything about this restaurant.
Inspired food and phenomenal service. An absolute treat
I gave this restaurant an enthusiastic endorsement even though I couldn't eat there due to the pandemic. I am sure it would have been just as great an experience as it always has been. I look forward to seeing this wonderful place up and running in the near future.
State Bird lived up to the hype! We got the dumplings, pork belly, jerk squid, garlic noodles, and hedgehog mushroom toast. I absolutely loved the dumplings, and the pork belly was bomb (as expected)!
Wonderful as usual! Everything we tasted was impeccable. They grow and use so much from their own farm including this amazing honey! We will be back time and time again.
During Corona virus time. Food was great as always. Staff was awesome. They work so hard. Great team work. High praise to them!
We had yet another spectacular dinner at State Bird. The fried and pickled cauliflower dish was absolutely delicious, the wine was incredible, and the service was, as always, top notch.
So hard to get a reservation for just decent food. Not sure I would come back just because of the reservation process to get a decent eating time.
Unexpected dim sum in a California style.
Not sure I would come back, but I did really like the Progress a lot.
The noise level is actually part of the deal... without it... I would say this place would loose its charm... I am barely waiting to come back soon!!!!!!!
Amazing food! Small plates were varied in flavor, great vegetable selection great herbs. All tasted fresh and well balanced.
