Incredible food, atmosphere, and service. I will 100% be returning
Overrated and expensive. I went home hungry. No kids friendly menu. Presentation is good but nothing special that i will remember. I have high hopes for this place so maybe thats why im kinda dissapointed. Won’t be back.
Delicious! Would recommend. 10/10. Great food and fun dishes.
We were dining outdoor. Great service. Good was very good and innovative.
The food was fantastic, service amazing and the dining area was beautiful. Will definitely return!
The food was hit or miss. Lots of random chili oil and other major ingredients that were not listed on the dish descriptions. For example the “seared albacore” was actually encrusted in peppercorns.
Black sesame & duck confit dumplings were incredible. Pecorino & ricotta pancakes and other bread items were also very good.
Also this may be my personal issue but it feels sinful to eat dumplings, ohitashi, or inari with a fork.
Timing of dishes was erratic and mostly slow. Fried quail had thick oily crust like KFC. Noisy to the level of unenjoyable. I’ve been to this restaurant on three other occasions and all were much better that this visit. The whole place felt “off” somehow
A truly wonderful and exceptionally unique meal. I’d fly to San Francisco just to dine here again
one of the best restaurants in the city. unique dishes and flavors, a real gastronomical experience. We took the spring peas & beets - amazing dish with a spicy kick to it. Also the smoked trout dip and the inari were amazing. Great service. The waiter knew how to pair the wine perfectly. You can't go wrong there.
Incredible food and drink experience for our one year anniversary. Thanks for making it feel like a special night
Was a bit loud! But otherwise, lovely! Thank you for having us
Alicia chose great wines for us!!
Was a little skeptical when we had to sit outside but turned out to be a great experience. The heaters were very good and the wooden structure that they built was beautiful. The service/food was excellent and recommendations were spot on. The highlight for us was the broth which was perfect since it was a little chilly that night. All the dishes had distinct flavors and meshed together for a great meal.
Really amazing flavors in all of the dishes we got but the standout favorite was the charred squid salad. Still had a few covid precautions in place so the dimsum cart style wasn't in action yet so I'd definitely want to go back when that's returned.
It's best suited for a young crowd. Enough said? Okay, I'll fill this in a bit more.
First, the service in genuine.
The atmosphere is tight-airy-bar and good people watching. On busy road and were sat in the worst seat back next too the bathroom and right in the traffic patter.
I suggest you (a party of 2) find or wait for the one spot on the bar for best service, comfort and people watching.
Food was just okay in size and creative seasoning = B. Presentation = C. Noise=D.
Our visit was on a Thursday night.
If I was 31, I'd swing by for a light bite and a couple drinks, so maybe a first date kind of place.
FYI: It's loud, not intimate and in the near future they will be allowed to open the remaining tables so the volume will be going UP.
Amazing, special, unusual, delicious.
The food was not as good as what I had before. It Is overpriced for the quality of food. I’m in the food industry too and I understand what the pandemic has caused the businesses. I don’t mind paying high prices, but the quality of food needs to be maintained the same level of price.
I had no idea that we actually spent almost two hours at the restaurant, but the entire experience was top notch! The environment was welcoming, the service was on point, and the food was superb! Now I can see why this restaurant has a Michelin star. Bravo!
Smart food. Unique takes and well developed flavors and textures across the board. Delicious. Staff was outstanding and proud to work where they do....and it showed.
Disappointing experience; did not meet expectations.
Many dishes were cold.
We were seated at a small metal table and the music playing was 1980’s dance music.
Wait staff did their best but it was a poor choice for an anniversary dinner.
Good & service was outstanding! Such a fun environment, playlist & ambience. Wine list is also incredibly creative with an awesome range of selections. Such a treat to finely dine here!
Excellent- delicious- thank you!
We picked several different dishes for the table and shared all of the different flavors. Food was the perfect portion to share and taste all of the dishes. Each plate was delicious. Definitely will be going back.
You will enjoy everything on the menu.
The menu has changed quite a bit and some dishes were really disappointing
Even with restrictions, they make everything magical. Outdoor seating was warm enough, and the ambiance of being out on Fillmore street was nelivening.
Amazing food. Quick and attentive service. Best meal I've had in a long time.
World class experience! Amazing food and drink. Make your reservation now!
I think this was the best meal I have had in years. We tried many items and not one thing was a disappointment. Service excellent. A perfect meal.
great service. some dishes were very unique and tasty. however, overall, we didn't feel there was anything that really stood out. the meal wasn't very memorable. perhaps our expectations were a bit too high considering the reviews.
Always such a fun experience. The parklet has great ambiance with tables individually heated for comfort. Service was excellent, Super personable, helpful, attentive. Food always exciting and delicious. We love the State Bird quail (best fried bird anywhere) and the kimchi fried rice is unbelievable. Eat here the minute you can get a table.
The carrot mochi with pickled carrots and pistachios was one of the most unique and tasty dishes I've ever had!
Best meal in recent memory. Each dish unique, perfectly cooked and delicious. Waiter was very knowledgeable with the menu. The first few dishes came immediately. We waited on some later dishes. Overall the quality of the food was a grand slam. Can’t wait to come back!
Outstanding, one of a kind food. Every dish was awesome.
We had the best service we have ever had anywhere, hands down. State Bird has such a unique menu, something for everyone. Delicious and beautiful presentation, all perfectly prepared.
The food is so inventive, original, and exciting - love it! Wish it was a little more affordable, but it's SF.
Absolutely amazing experience, thank you
7 of the 8 dishes were spot on. It was better than the last time I was here. Attention to detail. Service was very respectful during the pandemic. Highly recommended!
