Rude service, food outrageously overpriced (18£ for ONE SCALLOP), real pity as we had an excellent time before at their Smithfield location.

Interesting meal for my Sons Birthday. I would just like to say if your air conditioning isn’t working maybe offer to sit outside or to come back another time. Better still don’t sit customers downstairs where they literally swelter and then charge £22 service charge for the privilege. The flavours of food were lovely but I wouldn’t recommend I’m sorry. 😔

A brilliant restaurant tucked away on Marylebone Lane. The focus is on simple food done really well letting the ingredients just shine. We ordered a selection of a plates that the staff brought out at the perfect times so that the table was not overloaded. The wine is also exceptional. Would highly recommend

As always, the simplicity, belief in and use of local produce at St John is heartwarming. The quality of the food and cooking couldn’t be faulted. If I were being hyper critical, the portion of cod’s roe on toast was meagre in comparison to what I was expecting; either that or it should be served on a much smaller plate! Was pleased also that the only table of ‘picture-takers’ were sat at a reasonable distance from us!

The staff at SJ are the stars of the show and an excellent supporting cast to the amazing menu! The menu is an adventure with delicious surprises around every corner. Can’t wait to return Tomlinson and make a return visit.

A concise but gorgeous menu, designed to share. Interesting cuts/ ways of cooking meat eg hoggett, potted beef, lambs liver salad. The fish dishes were also great. All our dishes were outstanding.

As someone who has been coming to St Johns for the last few years, this was a "good' meal. A couple of things that could have improved my experience: 1) I wasn't aware that the dining room (downstairs) was where we were going to be seated and I asked if we would be able to have a table on the ground level where there's natural lighting; I was denied being told they were 'reserved' even though I also held a reservation and had arrived early. As I was hosting a friend from out of town, it felt a bit deflating as I was looking forward to impressing her with the upstairs atmosphere... 2) The food is always outstanding, however, the only plate that we all found over-salted was the Hogget (from the special menu) ; the anchovies hadded a very nice flavour, but unfortunately the seasoning that was also on the hogget made the plate too salty. This came as a surprise because the food is always balanced and considered. Our server was attentive, competent and efficient and the service flowed very well. Overall, it was a good experience, but I will call in next time to specify a preference upstairs.
