A concise but gorgeous menu, designed to share. Interesting cuts/ ways of cooking meat eg hoggett, potted beef, lambs liver salad. The fish dishes were also great. All our dishes were outstanding.

As someone who has been coming to St Johns for the last few years, this was a "good' meal. A couple of things that could have improved my experience: 1) I wasn't aware that the dining room (downstairs) was where we were going to be seated and I asked if we would be able to have a table on the ground level where there's natural lighting; I was denied being told they were 'reserved' even though I also held a reservation and had arrived early. As I was hosting a friend from out of town, it felt a bit deflating as I was looking forward to impressing her with the upstairs atmosphere... 2) The food is always outstanding, however, the only plate that we all found over-salted was the Hogget (from the special menu) ; the anchovies hadded a very nice flavour, but unfortunately the seasoning that was also on the hogget made the plate too salty. This came as a surprise because the food is always balanced and considered. Our server was attentive, competent and efficient and the service flowed very well. Overall, it was a good experience, but I will call in next time to specify a preference upstairs.

Excellent food and lovely service. Due to having a late evening booking a lot of the dishes were off the menu was a shame but what we did eat was excellent.

What a fantastic late lunch! The Deep Fried Rarebit was so good and satisfying, we’ve been craving it ever since. The Artichoke was simple, but perfectly prepared. The potted beef and sea bass were equally good. Paired with a Chateauneuf-du-Pape blanc and what could be better? The waitstaff were super friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. Definitely worth a visit!

fantastic meal - been to the Farringdon restaurant many times but 1st visit to Marylebone and didnt disappoint - wonderful food, loved the sharing plate concept and great atmosphere - sat very close to others dining (upstairs seemed more vibrant with more formal seating downstairs) but we all ended up chatting so was overall a wonderful evening!

Excellent service from super enthusiastic staff. The food was excellent, and house wine very good and reasonably priced. Will have to return for dessert, far too full by then!

Wow - what an experience, sometimes when you are excited to visit a restaurant it doesn't live up to your expectations - St Johns flew past it ! The food was perfect, and my allergies not even an issue, dealt with subtly, finesse and absolutely no drama or fuss, it was heaven. Anthony our server was top notch, friendly, approachable, calm and relaxed and his wine knowledge and recommendations were perfect, as a somm sometimes it can become a battle of knowledge but not with Anthony, knew not only his wine list but able to engage on wine generally - brilliant. Seamless service, the right about of chasing (we were chatting a bit:). Everyone from the host to the very smiley buss-person engaged and interacted in a way that just made the whole evening magical - I will absolutely be back - thank you for restoring my faith in hospitality right now

The Smithfield location is my favorite restaurant in the world, but Marylebone is just as good and more intimate. After years the food remains as revolutionary as it is rustic.
