The food was great as always, had the hot crab sandwich! Others had shrimp/lobster tacos! Perfect! Our server Haley was the best! She was so busy but always there when we needed her, with a smile on her face and this was only her first week there! She couldn’t have served us any better!👏🏻👍
Great server Ryan.:) Great staff.. Food seems to be getting better like it was before COVID...
Simply the best meal during our stay in Pismo!
Great spot right off 101 in Pismo Beach. Food, view, and service are hard to beat. Will be back when in town.
Great experience-food was hot and server was very attentive-would definitely return!
We were pleasantly surprised by the good food and service, and great view on the patio. A little pricey for the food quality.
Enjoyed it! It was an incredible view overlooking the ocean outdoors on the back patio. Much better than many of the restaurants on the strip!
Jordan was our waitress and she was fantastic. Can't beat the view, the food was good and the local wine selection was also good. A great way to spend a beautiful late afternoon and evening.
Celebrating the one anniversary of buying a little place at the coast!
Wonderful experience. Avery our waiter was terrific and the food was delicious.
The Hostess was horrible. She greeted us with attitude. She was not accommodating and she was rude. My experience was flawed for this alone. It just left a bitter taste for the whole meal.
She also lied to us. We asked for a window seating and she said she could not do it. The table was empty the entire time we were there. Overall the food was not worth the $160 we paid. I tipped the waitress heavily because she was awesome. I felt bad that she had to deal with her more than I would ever have to.
The crab was ok and the scallops were burned. I didnt complain because I knew it would've ruined my evening with my husband. It was our Anniversary. The drinks were the same but one was stronger than the other. The shrimp cocktail I had was very tasty but the shrimp were tiny and not Jumbo like I expected. I really like the view from this area so I will go back. However, I expect bad food and a rude Hostess. Be sure to request a window area when reserving your spot. The website does not have a place for this request but this restaurant expects you to add this yourself. Otherwise you will not get your accommodation.
Great food and ocean view!! Salmon salad is wonderful.
food has always been good here and we have lived here 40+ years and have eaten here since arriving. service was quite good yesterday - our server was very attentive and fulfilled each request promptly. weather was crappy, foggy and cold, but the patio heater was sufficient. there were not many diners when we were there so it was relatively quiet.
the one annoying thing that I hate, was that I could not make a reservation by phone. I was told I had to use some app, which I could not understand what the app was called. I explained that I don't do apps. I was then told I could make a reservation by going onto the Spyglass website, at which time the person hung up the phone. Now, here is my logic that this is the most ridiculous thing ever - we were already on the phone, she just had to write down the date and time and number of people in your register. but NO, I had to fire up the computer, find the website, enter my information, get a confirmation number, and then I had to "join" the damn app. then YOU had to open the site to get the information. It would have been a lot easier had we been able to make a phone reservation. you forget that lots of retired people live here and we do not do everything on our phones, nor do we want to. this is enough to make me not want to dine here again, unless we can walk in and get seated without a reservation. technology is NOT the be all, end all. it might just end people dining in places that we used to dine frequently.
I would recommend the food/service, but not the way you have to make a reservation. the app should be an OPTION, not the only way to go.
View was outstanding. Service outstanding. Food was mediocre
This was our first visit to Spyglass Restaurant. There was inside and outside dining. We are inside thinking it would be too windy and cold outside as the restaurant overlooks the ocean and it was sunset. We wish we would have taken an outside table as they protected the eating area well with plexiglass and no one looked cold. However, inside we still had an incredible view of the ocean. The food… the menu was rather limited but the food was simply prepared, cooked to the right temperature and had good flavor. My husband had halibut with linguine (the Gorgonzola sauce was a bit overbearing for the delicate fish) and I had shrimp wrapped in pancetta with rice. Both meals came with carrots and asparagus. The real surprise was the service. ‘Nic’ was our server - he was incredible! We eat out a lot - this young man was totally on top of his game!! He had great timing, if we asked for something he immediately responded, he thought ahead, he was very efficient without being overbearing and we never felt rushed (we were told sitting down we only had the table for 2 hours). We left this guy a great tip and a supporting note we hope his manager reads! We did watch the staff in general and noticed they worked very well together.
Got engaged the morning of perfect way to end the night
We had a good meal but our waiter didn't check back with us during our meal. Even though we understand the pandemic, we were rushed. There were dogs barking on the deck and for the price we paid for food, just didn’t feel worth it.
Our order was NOT correct at all. I asked for a scramble with 4 items and it came with more then I asked for and bacon on the side. My husband had the crab omelet with tomato's instead of potato's and wheat toast. His order came with the omelet, no tomato's and one slice of sourdough????? Really, how can you mess that up. My husband asked where are the tomato's and the server replied "Oh would you like some" he came back with ONE slice and then asked "Would you like more" REALLY!!!! and also said "We are out of wheat so I gave you sourdough" REALLY, you can't ask first or let the person know????? Lockley the view was beautiful. We were recommend to this hotel for breakfast, we would not recommend to anyone if they are looking for good food.
We love this location but have not always enjoyed the food. Last night everyone in our party had an excellent dinner. Thank you.
View and Service was excellent.
Went to celebrate 2 birthdays. Every tink was great: service, food ocean view. Will go again
Go here for the view and outside seating if nothing else. The food was good as well! Service was a bit slow, especially for receiving a soft drink after ordering. But otherwise I have nothing negative to say about this place. I dine alone often because I travel for business and anywhere you're not treated second class because of that, is a place I recommend.
Went for my Birthday Sat outside , great wind break also has heaters if needed. Had a table for 2 the furthest out excellent view. had immediate service and bar tender brought my beer personally.
Waitress was great and attentive. Excellent crab cakes, Fish sandwich and onion rings. Kobe burger was great as well. Received a complimentary dessert for bday. Left our spare car keys on table, they were found and kept for our retrieval the next day. Beautiful view of Avila Bay Will definitely be back.
We enjoyed a delicious breakfast, excellent service and great views! We will be back.
This is the restaurant for which the term “meh” was invented. Nothing technically “wrong” here: it’s just a Denny’s with an inflated sense of itself. Would you order bacon-wrapped scallops at a Denny’s? That’s right: neither should you here. Have a couple of beers and steer toward the comfort-food region of the menu, and you won’t be disappointed (except for the overpricing).
Our server was very nice and attentive. The hostesses were so so rude. Food was decent & the view was gorgeous. We'd go again, but hopefully the service blunders w/hosts could be worked out with more customer service training...
Great Food, Great View and Great Service!! 5 stars
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The staff were very pleasant, the food was good and the view was magnificent! We hadn’t eaten out for over a year so this was a real treat.
Delicious food...friendly service...will definitely return
We were seated extremely fast the service was fantastic we’ve been coming here for a couple of years now and really enjoy the view , unfortunately , probably because of Covid , the meat was tougher than it used to be, and flavor not as good .
Everything was good other that the food, it was not bad I guess I just felt it was over priced for the quality, everything else was great, good staff and atmosphere and the view was amazing, maybe I just ordered the wrong thing for me
Mother’s Day! It was just right server was awesome! Couldn’t have been better!
Was lovely and the staff was kind, knowledgable & cheerful.
There were 3 of us girls, and we all enjoyed our lunch very much - got to bring some home with us!
We especially thank our waiter who took pictures for us. We really appreciated his service.
Great service, great food, and great view!
Nice meal, overlooking the ocean! Friendly server, food good.
We enjoyed an outstanding meal at the Spyglass Inn Restaurant. I had the broiled bacon-wrapped sea scallops, and they were melt-in-your-mouth delicious! Fresh asparagus and basmati rice accompanied the scallops perfectly, and the plate presentation was lovely. My husband had the filet mignon, and he declared it to be fabulous, broiled to his exact specifications. Our server was friendly and solicitous without being intrusive. Our table overlooked the Pacific Ocean and we enjoyed watching the sun set. We will definitely return.
The food was generic tourist fare, but the views are spectacular. Get the oysters and a drink while you take in the a pacific snd head elsewhere for dinner.
Delicious food! And lovely outdoor atmosphere with heaters.
We went to celebrate a special anniversary. I had called a few days prior to find out if they did anything special for an anniversary. I was told that they served a complementary large Chocolate Chip cookie with ice cream for desert. My husband and I were both looking forward to the special treat in honor of our special day. When they brought us the check, my husband asked about the complementary treat and the waitress told us they don’t do that. I explained that I had called and the lady that answered the phone at the restaurant had told me that they did, and she said, “Sorry, we don’t do it.“ Kind of put a real negative on our celebration and our special day. In my opinion, not very good customer service protocol.
