   Surprised my wife with dinner on our anniversary. The whole experience was amazing. Would recommend it, but it is now closed. Great dinner to send off one of my favorite food experience choices in the city. We mill miss you.

   Chef Berry seemed not interested at all to talk with us. Even Michelin 3 stars chefs that I have met spent more time greeting me than Victor Berry.

   The service and the ambiance of Splendido are excellent but the tasting menu is way too overpriced especially when you add in the wine pairing option. The food was delicious but I have dined at many fine restaurants, some with Michelin stars that were either comparable or perhaps better and paid less, in some cases significantly less. The quality of the ingredient is great but some of the courses were a bit stingy. One of the courses in particular was the slow spiced roasted carrot. I appreciate that it is slow roasted and turned for 5 hours but at the price I'm paying I would expect more than a single carrot. My biggest complaint is the wine pairing, with emphasis on the "wine". Including a beer for 2 courses as one of the pairings seems to be a bit of a gouge. Sake for 3 courses also seemed to me to be a bit cheeky. Only one red of reasonably good quality but still as far as Burgundy's go was very average. It sort of felt like getting the last of the milk out of the cow before it goes off to pasture.

   Splendido is the best fine dining I have tried in Toronto. All my other favourites are in Quebec. The chef is very creative, the taste of each dish is very flavourful and interesting. The entire experience is full of surprises. It is very sad that this restaurant is coming to an end, but I believe the new one will be more affordable yet good quality as always.

   Service was slow and food was just too fancy. Used the best Ingredients (like caviar, truffle, foie gras, uni ) but with the extra fluff, killed the flavor. Wine pairing should only have wine and not beer and sake. 12 course meal at $180 was reasonable; just too bad it wasn't my taste.

   As Splendido is closing by year end, we decided to jump on the opportunity to dine before it wasn't around anymore. We enjoyed the 12 course tasting menu which was really fabulous. The service was also top notch. My only disappointment was the last savoury course - 85 day aged Cumbrae Farms steak (can't remember the cut). The texture was just not great. A bit dry and gritty, although cooked very well. It definitely wasn't the best end to a phenomenal meal and certainly not a great promotion for Cumbrea Farms. After the prior 9 courses, it just really fell short. I wish I could have had 6 more of the egg yolk ravioli and the mushroom dish was also to die for.
