Spinnakers Gastro Brewpub Ratings and Reviews
We came for lunch and had to wait for over 20 minutes before our waiter even came to our table to take our drink order. Completely unacceptable. I love the location of this place, the views are stunning, and the food is good, but unfortunately the experience was ruined by one terrible waiter.
We go to spinnakers about once a month. Food is decent and is well priced. Good ever changing beer and wine menu.
This occasion we had an order of salt and pepper wings to start. They were really good. I had the steak frites, it was also quite good. My wife had the fish and chips, unfortunately it was over cooked and the batter was soggy, perhaps the oil wasn't hot enough.
Overall still a great night at a reasonable price. Excellent views and a good atmosphere. Helpful staff.
Went to Spinnakers with some friends for my birthday party. As usual, Spinnakers had a vast beer selection as well as a large cocktail, wine, and cider selection. The drinks and food was great didn't hear any negative remarks regarding them from my friends. The only strange thing was the service at first it was pretty slow, but got more consistent later in the night. When it became time to pay our bill our server was totally confused and came to the table with a bill and then had us all recite our orders to her. She had forgotten things and had items mixed up. After what was another long wait trying to pay our bill we just went up to the bar recited our orders again and paid up. Spinnakers is always consistent with the food and drinks so I will be back, just the service was a bit off a few days ago!
We go to Spinnaker's fairly regularly and it doesn't disappoint. It's high end pub food with a northwest slant (lots of salmon choices, for example). I'm also a fan of the beer there. I'm not sure it's quite a foodie destination, but the quality is there - we chose this place as our New Year's Eve dinner spot.
We live virtually next door to Spinnakers. Over the past two years, the food quality has slipped. On our latest visit, one of the meals was cold, and one was incomplete. The special of the evening was tasty. Soup was cold. As a Brewpub, they have some spectacular brews, except that they run out of them. The wine is just wine, but, they had run out of the house pinot grigio which seems strange given that they own and run a Wine shop only a few blocks away.
Went with a group of 8 total and found that the beer was enjoyed by some, but not all. The beer didn't stand out as some other local/regional brews in the area. We all found the food tasty, but the service was painfully slow and the waitress seemed ignorant of at least saying "I'm sorry you have to wait." She was nice enough when talking with us, but the management could greatly benefit from more servers - it wasn't that crowded and we felt ignored quite a bit even though we were sitting along a traffic route. Yes, a larger group, but not enormous and the server just didn't know how to let us know in a more professional manner that she cared but was busy. Very good veggie burger, by the way!
Sweltering temperature inside. The food was over cooked and dry. The pizza was awful. The halibut was overdone. The burgers were dry and the fries were tough. The beer was good. The portions were very small for the amount paid in comparison to nearby establishments. Our server was very nice and attentive. We had received many recommendations to give it a try, wished we hadn't.
It was such a nice evening. we had our table facing the water. Local wine good and local cheeses - very very recommended. I ate fish Black Cod & Wild Archangel Risotto - perfectly done. fortunately, we didn't have any more room for desert. also the wine was wonderful:
Salt Spring Island Vineyards, Millotage...
My wife and I were in town for the weekend and were told to try this place for supper by a friend and the hotel we were staying at. Not what we expected the food was PUB food and greasy. I had the fish and chips fish was over done chips were soggy my wife had the Bangers and Mash the potatoes were cold and greasy as well. The only bright spot was the desert and the beer was passable. It was very nosey and the seating was to so close together that I had trouble getting in and out of my chair due to the people sitting behind me We had asked for a window seat but my view was the empty patio and my wife could see some of the water not what we expected. Would be go back NO not even for beers would we recommend it to our friends NO
This is a happening place (busy and noisy) and very much in demand.
Thankfully we had a reservation.
Great food and great drinks is normally a good recipe for success.
We come here every time we are in Victoria.
My burger was a little on the dry side but overall both meals were good.
Sometimes I think the menu misses a little, for example I really wanted the ribs but didn't want it served with salad and polenta.
To me that's a bit of a strange mix.
Overall a good time and we will more than likely come back next time
Great neighborhood brewpub, casual atmosphere, great views of Victoria inner harbor. Great menu, great food, great local and import beer selection, and great service. Eat here at least once or more every time visiting Victoria, consistently great year after year.
Prices are high but the food and beer was fabulous. Quality was outstanding. The mushroom soup was the best I have ever had. My father said it was the best beer he had in all of Canada. Service was friendly and helpful and prompt. I will be visiting here again.
It's a good little spot for beer and pub food.
Menu 1: Seafood Chowder (very good) and BC Artisan Cheese Taster (excellent). Both are classified as "Appetizers", however the combination was quite filling. Depending on your appetite, 2 Appetizers could serve as a meal.
Menu 2: Beer & Cheese Pot Appetizer (very rich)
Menu 3: 2 Oysters Appetizer (good)
Both 2 & 3 had the Braised Goat Stew (Special)-very rich, but portion was on the small side
A table for two with a nice view of the harbour lights - a great way to welcome the new year. We chose from the special menu, reasonably priced at $55 for appetizer, main and dessert. Highlights were the sablefish with Dungeness crab (messy but delicious) and the two desserts, tarte tatin with hazelnut ice cream and elderflower cheesecake with a tart berry sauce. A glass of BC wine and a pint of the house ale went well with the meal. The service was efficient and unobtrusive, and we enjoyed a leisurely dinner without feeling rushed. Thanks, Spinnaker's staff - well done!
Sorry to note that our brunch was disappointing in a few ways - poached eggs ordered medium, came hard and for some of us in our group of 5, the eggs were unrecognizable as eggs ie yolks had been broken.
Pototoes would have been good if they had been hot.
Biscuit was very good, however.
We sat by a cozy fire looking at the lights in the harbour. The server was properly attentive. The food arrived in good time - freshly made but quick. The food is inconsistent. The hot cheese pot; blue cheese spinach salad; fries and mushroom beer pizza were all good. The beet veggie burger was not good. The patty is a bit dry, with little sauce and a large bun, so it was very dry. The little bit of sauce had an interesting taste, so to be fair I should have asked for a lot more sauce. Finally the fish (salmon) and chips. The salmon seemed a bit on the dry side. The desserts were all amazing! Great beer!
I recommend this restaurant, but avoid the veggie burger.
Visited for lunch and had excellent service, very attentive but not pestering. The food was great and the beer was tasty. French fries were excellent! Nice partial view of the inner harbor. The Tap Room upstairs looked like it would be a fun place for drinks after work or a good place for special celebrations.
I have been coming to Spinnakers since it opened and have never been disappointed. This evening we celebrated my son's 19th birthday, so he wanted to experience all the fine ales. We ordered 2 flights of beer (4 x 4 oz. each flight) and got to experience a wide selection. The pulled pork nachos are great for the table to share. Mains of seafood paella, chicken pot pie, steak and seafood were enjoyed by all.
