Very slow service, rowdy patrons (one table full of loud drunk lads) and very difficult to pay as their card machine was broken. It took 1.5hrs to get our food and they didn't even bring all of the starters. They seem to prioritize take-away orders over dining patrons.Is this helpful?

There are far fewer Indian restaurants, as opposed to takeaways, local to us. Sometimes you just would rather eat out. We gave Spice Island a try and it did not disappoint: the Onion Bhajis were crisp, spicy and light and, speaking of light, the Nan Bread was amongst the lightest we have ever known - delightful! The Dansak was spicy yet still had that essential sweetness while my personal 'acid test', the Chicken Vindaloo was hot but not mental, the chicken nicely cooked and the potatoes not over-present - up there with the best. Service was good but not obsequious and the decor rather smart. We reckon to go to Spice Island at least once-a-month from now on.Is this helpful?

Spice Island has been a reliable local Indian takeaway for many years, with just a few tables to eat in. It closed recently for refurbishment and has re-opened with more space to eat there, although they still do great takeaways with local delivery. The food is always tasty, fresh and far better than some local Indian restaurants - you can really taste the spices and fresh herbs.Is this helpful?
