The Spice Box is a student-run restaurant associated with the University of Illinois hospitality management program. The restaurant is located on the second floor of Bevier Hall; 905 S. Goodwin Avenue, Urbana, IL.

Each Spice Box meal has two fixed menu selections, a four-course option known as the Prix Fixe and a two-course option known as the Special. Prices are determined by menu offerings and vary by meal. Specialty wine and beverages are available. The restaurant is open most Friday evenings and some Wednesday evenings during the spring semester.

Come enjoy a little slice of Polynesian paradise, right here in Urbana, while this year’s FSHN 145 cohort take charge of the restaurant for one evening and collectively transform the Spice Box dining room into an elegantly tropical space perfectly suited for your next evening out. On Wednesday, April 30th, the Spice Box will celebrate the vibrant flavors and beautiful culture of the Hawaiian Islands. Whether you’re intimately familiar with Hawaii, or simply interested in trying something new, this event’s menu is guaranteed to make an impression thanks to the inclusion of several classic Hawaiian ingredients including Li Hing shrimp, Okinawan potatoes, Ahi tuna, fresh pineapple, passion fruit, and macadamia nuts; just to name a few. We can’t wait to see you there!

We’re here to share the island’s laid-back charm and vibrant flavors, with a fresh take on local ingredients and coastal influences. The heart of Key West is just waiting for you to discover! The restaurant concept and menu being displayed in the Spice Box on Friday, May 2nd have been created by University of Illinois student, Marissa Munday. Always a great meal and a good time at the Spice Box. The students do an amazing job of running the show for the evening, and the chefs prepare food that is delicious and very high quality. I go as frequently as I can during the Spring semesters, and always look forward to these dinners!

Bri did an outstanding job decorating and selecting the recipes for Dee Dee's upscale Soul Food. The brick wall paper, the family pictures, the records and the cutouts were excellent touches. My favorite course was the fried green tomatoes! Santiago attended our table. He was very attentive and polite. We look forward to our next Spice Box 'adventure'.

Amelia did an excellent job of executing her plan to 'Color Your Palate'. The dining area was splashed with color on windows and walls. Dried citrus fruit slices were garland from the entry ceiling. Each dish contained artfully arranged colors. The technicolor tart was the most vibrant display and was a stand alone 'veggie meal'. Amelia had an outgoing personality as she visited the table, answered our questions and discussed how her theme was developed.

We had both the special and the pre fixe. Every course was excellent! Service were quick, friendly and polite. Specialty drink was very tasty. Decorations, menu, and background music added to the beautiful evening.
