Great experience - none of us had been here before, and for a group of three we order the mozzarella app, a salad, and a pizza. The salads are massive and fresh, and both the app and the pizza were great. That would have been enough food as it is, but since service was on the slightly slower side (only one waitress working on a Sunday night), the kitchen sent us an (unsolicited) extra pizza free of charge, which was very much appreciated.
Took a very long time for the food to come out
We are maybe one of the few not having a good experience but still had to share it
We were brought to a table under a light which did not work so we used our torch
We order the food 1 starter never came and 1 pizza was brought on its own same time as the starter
$28 for a pizza wow even in Westend no one apples that price
And this was the first time no smile no feeling of a warm welcome in 5 days we been in the US
The burger was good, but it wasn't fantastic and it took almost an hour. They should call the restaurant Romeo, not Speedy Romeo 😊
The food was delicious and inventive. I was, however, prompted to write this review because the service was atrocious. They brought the dishes out one at a time - with the apps, we assumed they just thought we were sharing. But when my son got his pizza and then 15-20 minutes passed and the rest of us hadn't gotten our main dishes, we knew it was a problem. The second entree came out 15 minutes later, the third maybe another 10 minutes.... and so on. I am hoping it was because it was a holiday and the regular staff wasn't on - but we never received any explanation. Again, the food was terrific and we would like to try it again to see if the service was just an anomaly. Pizzas were great. Grilled octopus, delicious. Kale salad very tasty and plentiful. Skip the Popcorn Cacio e Pepe.
Delicious mushroom pizza and Caesar salad were served with a smile. The prices are high, but the food is really good. The wings were excellent--meaty and juicy with just enough heat.
This was the first time I've been to Speedy Romeo for brunch, and I ended up disappointed that the dish I was most interested in — the gravlax pizza — wasn't available. The dishes I did order (potatoes, skillet eggs) were served overcooked and burned, which was surprising given the positive experiences I've had there in the past. I'd be willing to give them a second chance for brunch just on the basis of my really positive dinner experiences, but was ultimately disappointed in the food. Thankfully, the staff was very accommodating and comped much of the meal.
Always love Speedy Romeo. Their pizzas are creative and delicious. The crust is soft and chewy but also has a good crunch like any good pizza should have. And their burger! it's up there with one of our favorites in the NYC. Every time we come, we can't decide what to order but always fall back on our favorites, then saying we need to come back again soon to try more. Not a bad thing! :)
Service was also really great & attentive.
The ingredients on the pizza were plentiful and of high quality. However, the bottom of the pizza was completely burned. A few burned patches are fine and expected, but I mean the entire bottom was completely black, with a few non burned spots scattered here and there. Taste was mostly fine, but eating burned bread is unhealthy so I couldn’t enjoy the pizza.
Food was great but it took us two hours to get food and the restaurant was empty. They brought out the wrong dish twice.
Speedy Romeo had a cute ambiance and the pizza was so cool and interesting. Me and my boyfriend for the St. Louie and Paul's Boutique. They were both delicious!
Saw the review on tv... expected a better tasting pizza. Not horrible but didn’t knock my socks off either. Meatballs were delicious
I had read about the pizza and wanted to take my daughter and her boyfriend to a good pizza place near the Ludlow Hotel where we were staying. It definitely did not disappoint. The pizza was delicious. We also ordered the Caesar salad which had a mountain if parmesan cheese on it, literally. It was nice and cold an crips and not a real heavy dressing which I could tell was made it house because it had a tangy mustard flavor to it. We also tried the wings which we do everywhere we go, and they were just ok, and actually a little cold. We did not send them back because we had already sent our beers back because they were warm, and our waitress was wonderful. Also, she replaced them with very cold ones right away. I ordered a side of grilled fennel and it was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. All in all it was a very good experience and we are looking forward to going back.
goo za, enjoy the meal.
Very disappointing visit here. Ordered the Cacio e pepe popcorn...what came was a small skillet filled with cold popcorn and cold shredded cheese for $6... great idea poor execution. We then ordered 2 pizzas
Great night out. Love this neighborhood spot on Lower East Side.
One of my fav spots in NYC!
ALWAYS the best, best service, best food- overall amazing!
Speedy Romeo was so great! The food was amazing - my steak was prepared exactly right and the pizza was outstanding!
awesome dry aged steak, great atmosphere and great service
Clam pizza was watery and briny, with clams served in the shell for some reason. Chicken parm had no taste. The spicy meat pizza was very good but overall wouldn’t recommend
Great service and food as ever. Our LES go to!
The service and ambiance were great. Food was tasty but the pizza crust was a little too soggy near the center. The peppers and spicy honey were amazing.
Everything was delicious. We ordered the roasted olives, a salad, and 2 pizzas. Very happy and looking forward to coming back.
LOVE Speedy Romeo- my go to for all birthdays. love love love!
Food was great but terrible service! Waited 30 minutes for a table despite having a reservation. After we were seated it took another 30 minutes to flag down a waiter and get our order.
We had made a reservation for 6 people at 9pm and arrived a few minutes early to grab a drink at the bar. We ended up waiting for nearly an hour for our table. While the hostess tried to accommodate us by providing us with a comped round of drinks or bottle of wine, our mood had soured on the overall experience when several of the dishes we'd ordered were forgotten. I like the food, but the service was not up to par. Why be on OpenTable if you're not going to honor reservations?
Not impressed with the food, service, or quality. We won't be returning. Definitely was not worth making a reservation for and then getting put at a small table when the entire restaurant was empty. If you are looking for quality Italian pizza and food, then there are many other better places in NYC more worthwhile.
Food was good. Service was not so great. Servers not attentive at all. They gave us a drink menu and never came back for the order. Stuff like that.
Ordered the paulys special or whatever it’s called. I loved this pizza the 5 times here prior. This time the crust was burnt which totally ruined the pie and the everything bagel crust flavor was charred.
Excellent food in a great atmosphere.
Great pizza
We needed a quick place for brunch on a Saturday, and that isn’t easy to find in NYC. We decided on Speedy Romeo because we had been to the Brooklyn location before and enjoyed the pizzas. Our egg dishes were all very good, as was the burger. The thick slabs of toast were a big highlight. Only downside was the order of bacon which -although plentiful, was just way too fatty to eat.
Party of 9 got the round table with the lazy Susan. Pizzas are small but great sauce and crust. Not cheap.
Awesome pizza and the wood-fired Branzino is memorable! Adding some vegetable sides to the menu would round out the entree experience. Great atmosphere with super friendly service. We loved it and will return!!
Great food as always! I love the Kale Apple Salad and the White Album pizza.
Great pizza. Awesome appetizers and even great steak. An all around fund and delicious experience. Highly recommend.
Overall, this place is very good. The portion sizes were a bit smaller than expected but the food was all tasty. I highly recommend the s’mores dessert. That was delicious!! The cake should fill the entire bottom of this dish though, Speedy. You need to improve that. We had way more marshmallow topping than chocolate cake.
Great pizza in a neat neighborhood. Menu was a little more than I expected. While the pizza was the star, the wings may have been some of the best I have ever had.
Grilled octopus was cooked perfectly and couldn't get enough of the accompanying romesco sauce. Pizza was great - very good sauce and not overloaded with cheese, although crust a bit on salty side. Lacks a 5 star rating as considered pricey for pizza.
They made my proposal perfect, she said Yes! Thanks Speedy Romeo!
