Speedy Romeo Ratings and Reviews
Saw this restaurant on Mike Colameco's PBS food show. It did not disappoint after seeing them prepare the pizzas and the steak tartare and other menu items we rushed right to the place. Absolutely love Speedy Romeo. The Katz's Deli Pizza is a must-have. And the steak tartare maybe one of the best we've ever had.
Good food. But if they cannot honor reservations, why do they accept them?? We had a reservation for 8:30, were seated at 9:15. The host was really insistent that we take a table by the door (it was about 25 degrees outside) and that he would “upgrade us” when our table was ready. How about just seat me at my table at the agreed upon time? He was really quite rude and holier than thou.
Food (pizzas and salads) is innovative and tasty. Staff is incredibly nice and accommodating. Atmosphere is extremely comfortable. There was some unexplained confusion in the kitchen regarding our order -- which left us sitting for an hour or so with just a salad served -- but staff worked to make up for it by comping a dish and surprising us with a dessert.
A local favorite when I am a "local" to the LES! I travel to Manhattan frequently and always try to stay in the LES. This is one of my favorite places to go to. The food is always great. The service is TOP NOTCH. I always eat/drink at the bar area and the bartender is amazing with great suggestions on their small but amazing wine selection. Can't wait for my next visit here!
Two pizzas to split between two people was the perfect size for my friend and me. Our server was so sweet and had the perfect recommendations. Quick to get our food and drinks out. I think my only complaint was that it was uncomfortably dark in there. I would 100% go back though.
The food was awesome! The other ratings suffered because the service, although quick, wasnt too attentive to us. In addition, it is very dark and hard to hear the person sitting across from you. The last thing is the price for the pizza. We got the pizza with Katz pastrami which was amazing and although steep in price, it was amazing.
I hated it. The noise level was so high that it was impossible to talk to each other in a small table. On top of that, they took 50' to serve 2 pizzas. Won't come back. I went to the one in Brooklyn and I liked it way more. The food was better and the ambiance too.
We loved dining at Speedy Romeo's! We were a large group, and Tyler was the most wonderful server I've had in a long time! He was incredibly attentive without being overbearing, super friendly and patient with a group (which always means a few indecisive moments), and even noticed when my cell phone died and offered to charge it while we dined. He also remembered to return my phone when we were paying the bill, without us requesting it. Great restaurant, the food was fantastic, and hat's off to Tyler, for making it a wonderful experience! We'll be back soon, and Speedy Romeo team -- you've got a gem in Tyler!
Despite having a 9:30pm reservation, we were not seated until 11:00pm. We were not the only ones it appeared everyone had to wait 1hr + to get seated. It was terrible. They also refused to tell us how long we would have to wait. If we had known it was going to be an hour we would have left. The food was great- but not worth the 1.5 hour wait.
Had a delightful time at Speedy Romeo with friends on a Friday night. Our reservation was at 9 and we were seated asap. Pizza was very tasty and because we weren't able to locate our server when we were ready for the check and a last glass of wine, the server that helped us gave us a free round, which was a very nice gesture. Highly recommend for the tasty pies and friendly staff.
The host at the door was not friendly or accommodating when our party of 8 arrived 15 minutes late - we had to wait an additional hour to get a table, which is sometimes fine under normal circumstances, but they were less than gracious.
The waitress was friendly and helped improve the overall experience, however one of the last pizzas we ordered was delivered with the dough undercooked, toppings too acidic.
Contender for best pizza in NYC. What sets them apart (aside from the impeccable crust) is the creativity in their menu of pies. Its impossible to go wrong and you can taste the quality in the ingredients. Also happens to be REALLY well priced, amazing value.
