Not impressed with the food, service, or quality. We won't be returning. Definitely was not worth making a reservation for and then getting put at a small table when the entire restaurant was empty. If you are looking for quality Italian pizza and food, then there are many other better places in NYC more worthwhile.
Food was good. Service was not so great. Servers not attentive at all. They gave us a drink menu and never came back for the order. Stuff like that.
Ordered the paulys special or whatever it’s called. I loved this pizza the 5 times here prior. This time the crust was burnt which totally ruined the pie and the everything bagel crust flavor was charred.
Excellent food in a great atmosphere.
We needed a quick place for brunch on a Saturday, and that isn’t easy to find in NYC. We decided on Speedy Romeo because we had been to the Brooklyn location before and enjoyed the pizzas. Our egg dishes were all very good, as was the burger. The thick slabs of toast were a big highlight. Only downside was the order of bacon which -although plentiful, was just way too fatty to eat.
Party of 9 got the round table with the lazy Susan. Pizzas are small but great sauce and crust. Not cheap.
Awesome pizza and the wood-fired Branzino is memorable! Adding some vegetable sides to the menu would round out the entree experience. Great atmosphere with super friendly service. We loved it and will return!!
Great food as always! I love the Kale Apple Salad and the White Album pizza.
Great pizza. Awesome appetizers and even great steak. An all around fund and delicious experience. Highly recommend.
Overall, this place is very good. The portion sizes were a bit smaller than expected but the food was all tasty. I highly recommend the s’mores dessert. That was delicious!! The cake should fill the entire bottom of this dish though, Speedy. You need to improve that. We had way more marshmallow topping than chocolate cake.
Great pizza in a neat neighborhood. Menu was a little more than I expected. While the pizza was the star, the wings may have been some of the best I have ever had.
Grilled octopus was cooked perfectly and couldn't get enough of the accompanying romesco sauce. Pizza was great - very good sauce and not overloaded with cheese, although crust a bit on salty side. Lacks a 5 star rating as considered pricey for pizza.
They made my proposal perfect, she said Yes! Thanks Speedy Romeo!
Great to celebrate a birthday
Speedy Romeo is one of the most overrated restaurants that I’ve been to in a long time. The food was flat out bad. The octopus was like eating a piece of rubber. The pizza crust was burnt and bitter...so much for wood-fired. Our waitress was really nice but a bit slow. This place is pure gimmick...they sell merchandise. Don’t go to this place. It’s really no better than Pizza Hut. At least Pizza Hut is cheap. Zagat gave it a 4.5 for food. What a scam!!
Paul Boutique pizza fantastic. And the chocolate marshmallow cake which is not a cake which is amazing. And the futon list Caesar salad also fantastic
The customer service here is next level and the food is absolutely incredible. The wings? Wow.
This place had been recommended to me so many times so perhaps I had too high expectations. The food was good but nothing spectacular given how many similar pizza restaurants there are in NYC. The service was horrendous. We were at a table all the way in the back by the bar so it was a bit cramped but the waiters didn’t even bother to try and navigate around the table. They placed all our cocktails on the table so aggressively they sloshed all over the place. When we ordered wine, they poured a taste and when we approved they just left the bottle on the table for us to pour ourselves. Every pie that came to the table was dropped on the table, it was truly bizarre. I’d rather wait 1-2 hours for Rubirosa than come here again.
Really good pizzas and great stuffed pepper appetizer as well as other terrific dishes. Fun atmosphere and good service.
Food is always great. Hip hop music was blasting so loud to the point where you can't hear the person your with. There was heavy construction right outside and you couldn't hear any of it because the music was so loud.
Loved the Speedy Romeo pizza. The ricotta was delicious and so were the tomatoes! The pizzas are big enough to share (6 slices). The wings were great too.
Friendly servers. Excellent pizza. Very happy with dining experience
Excellent and friendly service!
Romantic and delicious, all rolled up into one! Thank you for another exceptional night!
Great spot and great food
my new fav pizza in nyc
The food was good but the restaurant is incredibly loud. Abnormally so. It was very difficult to carry on a conversion.
We went early so it was pretty quiet but it got very load in there by the time we left. Service was fine, I think we had a new server? But he was eager, authentic and was def doing his best. We had a food issue and had to send something back, no worries though, the manager came over and quickly fixed the situation. The food was excellent. We had vegetarians with us & Romeo had zero issues making substitutions. It may seem pricey but the portions were large enough to split 3 ways and were incredibly delicious making it a real value. I highly recommend!
My date showed a little early, and they wouldn't seat her right away. No big deal since I showed up 5 minutes later. Service for the most part was good, although they did forget a drink we ordered. The kale salad was very good, and the pizza just decent. Still, all in all, an acceptable experience
Everything about the meal was superior. However, we are native New Yorkers, and were shoved to the table farthest in a blind corner of the room, while the restaurant was half empty. Unnecessary, and stupid if you expect repeat business. The front man on Saturday night should’ve stepped up and done better for us. Everything else about the place is great
Great time as always - amazing pizza and steaks here. Had a great bday meal with my homies.
Great pizza and vibes as ever. A strong go to for reliable and tasty pizza in the city.
Fantastic as always
The food is so good
Service so nice
Great decor, buzIng atmosphere, and an amazing pizza alongside one of the best salads we've ever had (kale and apple with toasted walnuts, summer fruits, crispy freekeh... Wow!!)
Badly prepped food (hamburger) that was not at all close to how the burger typically tasted. Their prep tasks for it was to wrap it in butcher paper and possibly freeze it. We asked how the meat was stored.
Had to check out this pizza when I found out that they had pies inspired by middle America towns like St. Louis. Really enjoyed it!
The octopus appetizer was fantastic, but this was the only thing that was good. The beets in the roasted beet salad were hard to cut, the grilled chicken was some chicken pieces in a sauce, and the $50 steak was just OK. The video for this restaurant portrays a much better picture of what you will experience. The service was very good, but it’s hard to make up for mediocre food.
The first time I ate at Speedy Romeos was outstanding. I couldn't wait to come back. So, on a recent visit to NY from LA I came here with some friends. We ordered the Caesar salad, which was a stand out of the meal, and the grilled artichoke app. There were three baby half artichokes on a plate of arugula. Considering there were four of us dining the portion was disappointing but the flavors were good. We also ordered the grilled octopus which was excellent. For entrees we ordered the wood fired garlic chicken which all of the meat eaters at the table said was excellent. We ordered the Anton Ego veggie pizza which was beyond disappointing. Bland, flavorless, limp. The Saint Louie with sausage and picked peppers was better but just Meh. For dessert we ordered the olive oil cake which also had no taste and was just meh. I won't write them off yet, but if my next trip does not live up to the first great meal I had here, there are other pizza spots in NY and I don't need to waste my time here.
