    This restaurant located in the Grand Point Clear is always spectacular. Overlooks the bay waters and has a luxurious feel. The food is always wonderful and very well presented. Service is always outstanding.

    Our 2nd visit to Siuthern Roots and this was to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. Excellent food as before and table service was good but both were let down by delays in kitchen in preparing dishes. Our poor waiter had to apologize twice for delays that were clearly not his fault. This type of delays did not happen on our first visit to Souther Rootshence our decision to dine there for this most special occasion. It has affected our opinions and has a bearing on recommendations to friends and others which will be qualified by this experience.

    Southern Roots is one of my go-to places. The food is delicious and the views of Mobile Bay are unrivaled. They also have a great drink menu and separate bar seating. If you get there at 4pm they will do a drink demonstration from the mixologist. Overall fantastic experience.

    Love this place! Food has gotten so much better than in the past. Great service and good food. Only complaint was it was extremely loud as there was a group of about 11-15 guys at a table and they were loud. Also Southern Roots please ask people to remove their baseball caps while in there. I know attire has become so relaxed but please show a bit of respect by removing your hat!!!

    A bit disappointing in that my food was more room temp than hot (tomato pie and crab cake). Our coffee came without auger/creamer or spoons and no utensils came with dessert.

    We loved the amazing view of the bay and giant oak trees with gray moss . Our service was impeccable and my crab and scallops risotto was delicious. But the menu is too limited, my only complaint. Finding no seafood dish that appealed, my husband ordered a steak which was so so. A fish in lemon butter sauce would have pleased us both.

    Friendly service. Appeared server was inexperienced but still attentive. Ordered Duck and Gumbo. Deck was excellent. Gumbo a bit bland but Hardy. Crab and shrimp risotto were acceptable. Banana Foster cake and ice cream were delicious. Bread pudding also shined.

    Southern Roots was good! It crab cake may have been one of the best I have ever had. All the other food was very good, but not worth the price. The ambience is great and we loved getting to look out at the Bay while we dined. We did sit at the bar one night, and the bar staff was incredible. Very friendly, helpful, made great drinks. I am pregnant, so they went out of their way to make me a great mocktail so I could feel like I was indulging with my husband.

    Very few restaurants today have the high level of food and service that Southern Roots has. From the before dinner drinks to the fantastic desserts - you will not be disappointed. Our server asked us what we liked in a drink and made suggestions that were delicious. We had specials of the night for our appetizer and main course and my only regret is that they probably won't be on the menu for us to get next time we are there. The Beef Wellington was so good and practically melted in your mouth it was so tender. We splurged on dessert. The Redemption chocolate dessert was a spectacular presentation and scrumptious as well. Hope that you enjoy your meal as much as we enjoyed ours.

    This was a trip down memory lane for us. It did not disappoint. Small but delectable menu. I began with the tomato pie-savory and fresh, and then ordered the crab and scallop risotto—creamy, comforting, and so delicious. We finished up the evening with an espresso martini, an epic sunset, and a long, gorgeous evening on the porch swing, enjoying the breeze off the bay and watching the stars fall on Alabama. After that, who cares? ❤️

    Vast improvement on vegetarian/vegan options. Preciously there was a vegetable plate which was good but not particularly innovative. The vegan option to the gnocchi was terrific. The salad was also terrific. Would love to see more offerings like these!!

    Absolutely wonderful! Burrata starter was fantastic and entrees were amazing. I got Gulf Grouper and my wife had the Scallop and Crab Risotto. Incredible. Don’t skip the bread pudding or fun seasonal dessert!

    We were celebrating our anniversary and the staff made us feel very special. The ambience of the restaurant was perfect. Our reservation was for 8:15 and the view of the sunset was magical. Our server was super sweet and took great care of us. The food was absolutely delicious! Halibut was their special of the day and it was amazing. My husband got the grouper and it was equally delicious. The wine was excellent as well. We were very pleased with everything and will definitely return. We encourage everyone to try this restaurant. You will not be disappointed.

    The perfect spot for our first anniversary! We made a reservation specifically to catch sunset and would recommend as the sight made it especially memorable. We enjoyed gulf coast oysters and a ceviche salad for starters, then the beef tenderloin and gnocchi primavera followed by bananas foster for dessert. All were delicious! Dallas was a warm and knowledgeable server and we enjoyed hearing his recommendations!

    I was running late for my original reservation and after a quick phone call, was pushed to a better time for us. That was just the beginning of exceptional service. Upon arrival to Southern Roots, we were greeted warmly and seated promptly. The table overlooked other guests frolicking on the front lawn with the sun setting over the Bay as the backdrop. Our server was very friendly, professional, and attentive making recommendations along the way. The food was exquisite from the drinks to the best crab cakes we've ever had (and as a Coastal person, I've had many) as was the Mozzarella cheese appetizer. The tomahawk ribeye was absolutely perfect as well. And to top it off, we chose the bananas foster which also did not disappoint. We can not wait to go back to both the hotel and Southern Roots!!
