South of Nick's - Laguna Beach

Short rib tacos and carnitas are delicious

This is our Sunday spot!! Before South of Nick’s opened in Laguna Beach, we would take a nice drive along the coast after church and enjoy South of Nick’s down in San Clemente.

Our favorite is the Chimichanga de Mariscos or the Filet Ranchero (steak fajitas) we order a couple traditional margaritas with rocks and salt and we’re happy campers.

The servers and bartenders are friendly and always helpful. We love all of Nick’s restaurants and as locals we know the best places to go and this is #1.

They make the best margarita's in town, the food is wonderful - especially the carnitas - and Maya is a wonderful server. Tough to beat

We started with chips and guacamole--excellent. Cucumber margaritas were refreshing. Food was delicious! We had the butter cake for dessert--melted in your mouth. Service was excellent. We will return.

A fan of the San Clemente location, but the it’s tough to beat the downtown Laguna Beach vibe. Quality food, great ambiance, & a wonderful waitress (& team) to provide the best possible service. It’s the talented people that enable Nicks to stay ahead of its competition. Needless to say, Nicks never fails to deliver quality. Will be back again in the near future.

Our server Trinidad was over the top; not only did he steer us corrrectly and helped us navigate the menu; he also pointed out the most delicious items on the menu of which he was right on! A very upscale Mexican style restaurant with a very modern vibe!

Everything was very good, even our table because we were tucked away. But, being tucked away also I believe led to our server leaving (aka forgetting about us) is alone. No huge deal but it’s worth mentioning.

We will for sure be back as we always enjoy the food, ambiance and getting together!

Amazing food drinks and service!

Arrived about 15 minutes before reservation but was seated promptly! Servers were all very friendly and attentive without being overly so, and food was great!

everything was great! the food & drinks were delicious. it was my birthday and they gave me a card signed by the staff and some high quality chocolates. would definitely recommend and will be going back!

I loved this place and am a local. I made reservations and called and explained we would be 15 minute items late. I also said we wouldn’t be long as we had Laguna playhouse tickets.We arrived to be told by Dana that restaurant was Full but one table open at cold draft entrance. Really????? Sooooo..... the front person RUINED a good meal. We insisted on looking around and found a tiny high top hidden around side. I think it was overflow furniture. So do not bother to make reservations or be considerate when Dana is at the door

First time visit for the friends who accompanied us. Great food, great staff, and spectacular view of the ocean and sunset. Very busy, but staff went out of their way to accommodate us.

Wonderful dinner! Had a 4:30 reservation and got stuck in canyon traffic! Hostess was sooo accommodating and NICE! So bummed I didn’t catch her name but thank you!

We had the Seafood Enchiladas and the Carnitas, as well as The guacamole and filet quesadilla. All of the aforementioned were amazing 😋. We also indulged in an El Dorado and a Coconut Margarita, both were delicious . Scott is an amazing manager and the staff is always friendly, attentive and professional! My favorite place !
