Everything about our meal was exceptional! Highly recommend the duck breast, lollipop lamb and seared scallops from the tapas menu! Absolutely incredible food! Our server was so attentive, and because we were going to a show right after, made sure our meal was served promptly! We are repeat customers and look forward to our next dining experience here!

Have been to South Bay several times and this was the best visit. Food was delicious and service excellent. Great wine and other drink choices as well. Stellar service. We will be back

Interesting take on "Key Lime" pie. I'm used to Key West Key Lime Pie where the filling is tart and the merangue is the sweet. In this case the filling was a creamey sweet and a lemon ice was the tart. Different but very good. The seafood paella was also very good. Nice affair overall and we will return.

The service was outstanding without the need for the server hoarding over our table. She was pleasant and very attentive and available when we needed her. Food was cooked as ordered and served hot and presented well. We will definitely go back.

First things first, this was my first time dining here. I first walked into a opened bar area with a good size and a moderate noise level(not bad at all) , as we followed the waitress to the back to go up some stairs to a upper back level that was very inviting and great ambiance. We were greeted and waited on very nicely. The food was hot & fresh, the wine and the drinks were very refreshing and soothing to the soul. I was very pleased with my service and my meal and look forward to experiencing more items on the menu.. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!👍🏾 Rodney J.

Beyond amazing! Food was impeccable with so many choices, I have already made a reservation to go again. The service was attentive, gracious, and paid attention to details. We had two eaters that have dietary restrictions and one who is incredibly fussy...something for everyone.

The food has always been amazing (try the calamari; I also had a delicious linguine and mushrooms dish), and the staff was kind enough to sing a rousing Happy Birthday to a friend, complete with impressive sparkler. The molten lava case was delicious.

Made a reservation before a play we (8) went to see at the Shubert. Had a drink at the bar first, bartender seemed a little stressed but made an great Mediterranean mule. Our waiter was outstanding ( sorry didn't get his name) but very attentive. Food from appetizers to dessert were delicious and cooked perfectly. Started our great evening perfect. Thank you.

We enjoyed dinner at South Bay prior to a Shubert show. The 2 of us sat in the bar, where we happily tried a few of their cocktails, and when we asked our server Felipe to prepare something unique, he went out of his way to meet our needs. We started with apps - Tuna Tartare for me, and Eggplant Burrata for her. We shared and it was a good thing we did as both were delicious. For dinner, we both enjoyed the Black Bass which was tasty, flaky and exceptional! Our meal was complete, but an offering of Pumpkin Panne Cotta for dessert could not be turned down, and we're glad we chose to indulge as it was creamy, sweet and just the right portion. We will happily return again!

Fantastic meal that was part of New Haven Restaurant Week, we enjoyed the fresh seafood selections and the creative sides. My steak came out cool, I asked waitress to send it back and the re fired the dish, came out hot and not over cooked. Bar area was buzzing, a fun place to enjoy a dinner in the city.

South Bay is a great spot for a pre-show drink and bite to eat. They have lots of small plates and salads to choose from in addition to full entrees. We enjoyed our meal and the service was fantastic on a very busy night.

We dined at the bar. Our server was Johnny the bartender. He was very courteous, friendly, knowledgeable about the drink selection, attentive and very efficient in getting us our three courses off the New Haven Restaurant Week menu. He's a keeper!

Our waiter was excellent, and but due to it being restaurant week in New Haven more staff should have been working (it appeared that only three people were taking orders for the whole restaurant) as service for ordering was slow. We skipped dessert because we thought it would take too long to get.

Went for lunch during restaurant week - it was very mediocre. The fish was rubbery, and all the food was under-seasoned. I have had good meals there in the past - but won't return again too soon.

tldr: There's a little room for improvement, but overall pretty good. Definitely would bring a group of friends here, and great for a date night, especially if everything is going to be chill and casual. For the dedicated foodies... well... Drinks: great, simple, classic, they don't skimp, and they give great recommendations if you are not sure. Appetizer: Mussels were good, but not freshly made, it's difficult for a restaurant to always provide fresh mussels, so it's all good... sausage was very good and simple Entrée: the tagliatelle pasta seems like a new dish, it's unique and very good if you are into shrimp... the crispy red snapper was definitely NOT crispy, how can you tell? because it was served with a reduction sauce that wasn't reduced enough, and so the extra juices made the snapper NOT crispy, we mentioned this to the server, server got defensive and tried to gas light us, this was the only negative experience, but we decided not to make a big deal about it, also the red snapper comes with a cheese sauce gnocchi and bok choy, the flavors and textures don't really mesh too well Dessert: crème brûlée was simple and perfect Misc: one of the menus was dirty, but servers always bring water, very attentive, and despite the small negative experience, the staff is actually chill and friendly, this is perfect for a casual get-together

Great food. We enjoyed coconut shrimp, octopus, halibut and red snapper. All delicious and perfectly cooked. Generous portions. Perfect location if attending shows at either College St Music Hall or the Shubert. Can’t wait to go back.

The food was delicious and the price fixe lunches are great. The downside was it took a very long time to get our food (we were there for over 90 minutes for lunch) and there were many bees that were quite distracting throughout the meal.

Food was excellent. I had the crispy duck. My companions had the hanger steak, the grilled salmon, and the seafood risotto. Everyone was very happy with our respective meals. For dessert we had the strawberry shortcake with raspberry sorbet and the brownie with ice cream. Delicious all around. The service was fast and efficient, and our server was delightful. I also had the mojito, which was perfectly prepared. South Bay provided a great meal for me and my friends.

The food and service were excellent. My husband and I had crab cakes as an app, then he had the grilled salmon and I had the homemade pasta bolognese. Our dinners were delis! I got the puff pastry with Nutella for dessert, which was a perfect way to end the meal.

We could not have been more thrilled being outside eating on the street, listening to music and enjoying the weather. The food and drinks were fantastic, the service was good and value of the place even better. 10/10 highly recommended.
