It really was very good, but we were not prepared to pay Michelin prices. Having said that, it was just as good as a Michelin.

An outstanding dining experience in all aspects. Each course was innovative and well-prepared. Servers Yoel, Sharnie, and Dennis (forgive me if I misspelled their names!) were knowledgeable about ingredients and preparation for each dish. They were attentive throughout the meal, without being intrusive. Yoel made excellent wine recommendations. Owner/chef John Leonardi stopped by several times during the meal. After two long days skiing, it was a relaxed experience; we were thankful to not feel rushed at any point in the evening. We are looking forward to returning when we come back in July for mountain biking, hiking, and wildflowers.

The time between courses was waaaay too long. Typically I assume 5-7 minutes between courses. It took forever to get the food. I was so done with dinner by the 2nd course - it took 2 hours to get there! First had a salmon petit four, then a soup then first and second course. I was done by then. I’ve had several fine dining meals and most of them Michelin-rated, so I fine that my feel for the meal is on par. The food was delicious, beautiful and interesting, but because It took too long, I feel like I didn’t enjoy it and was being held captive to finish the meal. I wanted to leave! Overall it was a regular meal that I wanted to end. I will not be going back.

This was our second visit and it remains as great as before. This is a pricey and lengthy but worthy experience presented by chefs and staff who truly love and appreciate what they do. Highly recommended if it's in your budget. If you can find the tiny, hidden location, you'll not at all immediately expect what your about to experience. Soupcon ("soop-sahn") roughly translates in French to "savor", and you will.

The food was overpriced for what it was. We've dined at Michelin Star restaurants with 12 course menus + wine paring, which were far superior in presentation, taste, and wow factor at the same price point as this restaurant serving 4 courses and good, not amazing, food.

Soupçon is the most expensive restaurant in Crested Butte. It is also, far and away, the best dining experience. The wine pairings are inspired and the food and service would be top notch in a big city!

Jol and the service team assigned to our table were impeccable. Well timed and perfectly executed courses with exceptional detail and history of the wine pairings created an enchanting experience in the cozy 32 seat restaurant just 20 steps off Elk Street. Our party of 4 split the menu to maximize tasting opportunities and mixing extraordinary proteins from the ground and sea. An intimate and respectful service whilst engaging with tremendous know-how and comfortable interaction. Not to be missed in CB!

Having dined here a few years ago with a menu choice option, I found that experience significantly better. This latest visit is per a set menu - tasting course. For me the quality and taste of the dishes was disappointing to say the least. The seafood dishes tended to be the better of the options. The osso bucco was somehow dry and not the typical ‘fall off the bone’ tender. The duck also underwhelming. My assumption is that a small kitchen is not conducive to making each course to be served at relatively same time to all 25-40 patrons (per 2 nightly seatings). This is just too much like “assembly line” or wedding reception vs each dish getting some finesse and TLC from the chef. IMO guests making different choices at different times allows for better timing and quality in the kitchen, instead of pumping out 30 dishes at the same time. The prices have also significantly increased. So the value just is no longer there. Paying much more for lesser quality. Overall just a very disappointing experience, 3-4 years after such an enjoyable experience. Perhaps they will revert back to choice menu offering instead of a set menu.

I save up every year. It's great motivation. We do the full menu: food and paired wines. The staff is incredible. Never had better service. They authentically want you to have a great experience. So professional. They knew my name by memory, though it is my fifth year back. That's just the touch. Good is incredible. Even better now that they have just the one seating. GET YOUR RESERVATION EARLY. Don't wait. The day you book your stay, book this. That said, I was fortunate one to be on the waiting list...they called me when they had an opening.

We dined there on a Sunday, the meat portion of the fixed menu was very good, however, the seafood fixed menu not so much. The chilliean sea bass tasted “fishey”, as did the Alaskin King Crab. I should have known better to order sea food on a Sunday in the middle of the country, and for the price of this dinner, the chef should not have served these. The portions were appropriately sized, the service was spot on and the desserts were excellent.

Soupcon was splendid. The environment, service, food, and chef were great. Its a small restaurant, old cow barn, so the noise level can grow as liquids flow through the evening. Easy to make friends with other diners which adds to the glare. Chef John is extremely approachable and loves to visit with the guest. You will pay for this experience and yet it truly is an experience that’s worth it.

After years of coming to CB and hearing great things about Soupcon, we were very disappointed to say the least. Overall, the front of the house service and wine pairings were spectacular. Joel took fantastic care of us. We were highly disappointed in the quality of the food. Really nothing special at all. Not much for flavor or presentation. If you’re spending over $300 a head, everything should be absolutely spectacular. The chef/owner should really step up his culinary game in order to command the prices that they do. If you’re looking for true fine dining, save yourself some money, and drive to Telluride.

Absolutely amazing! The food, the staff the personal visits from the amazing chef. The magical ambiance. This place is a must. It doesn’t matter if you’ve lived here for 25 years like me or if your just visiting. Add Soupçon to you “must do” list. You will not be disappointed. In fact you’ll feel like you just met a new part of your family. My mothers last birthday dinner there was fantastic. We got the entire restaurant to sing her happy birthday. It’s truly a magically, delicious experience. You can feel the love in the quality and flavors of the food. Your mouth will thank you. Top notch 10 stars ⭐️!! Thank you soupçon!

We attempted to eat at this establishment and add my mother in law who was able to attend last minute and when we asked were very rude and said it was not possible even though there was seating for 7 and would not even allow her to sit at the table. We were not happy but came up with a solution for her so she could to dinner and not be alone. Then the chef came out and asked how we were doing and I said not very good and then he proceeded to tell us we had ruined their night as well and then told us to get out.

Five stars doesn't begin to give credit to the chef and incredibly talented staff. We'd give this 10 stars. We were celebrating our anniversary, and Joel (our server and master of ceremonies for this gourmet experience) started us off with a complementary glass of champagne. Seating is cozy, acoustics mute everyone's conversations so you can really enjoy your company without hearing more then a happy buzz in the room. and there are only 5-6 tables per room. This restaurant is performance art executed to perfection. Joel explained each of our courses (in the 5-course meal) and wine pairing (we were very glad we did that), and we felt like we had paid for a wonderful tutorial. The wines complimented each course really well. Takes things to a new level. Each course exceeded our expectations. We started with a bite-sized amuse bouche of caviar. The potage was a sweet corn bisque that was smooth and just the right consistency, with a smoky lardon and creme fraiche. We ordered the Duet of Duck for our "1st Course" (confit and fois gras with wonderful accents). We ordered Colorado Lamb for our 2nd Course (perfectly cooked medium rare, so tender, with Chanterelle, Prosciutto, and sauces). The Intermezzo Seasonal Sorbet was Granny Smith apple -- perfect to cleanse our palettes. For our 3rd Course, we both ordered the Elk Tenderloin, and it was also cooked medium rare, just perfect, juicy, and with wonderful vegetables and potatoes. (We ended up taking some home, as we didn't want to waste it.) The finale was a choice of Apple Tarte Tatine or Chocolate Mouse Cake -- how can you miss with either. Again, we can't recommend this establishment enough. Bring a good appetite. Allow 3 - 31/2 hours, you will want to linger. They change the menu monthly, which is hard to believe. Kudos to the entire crew, and especially to our server who led us through a truly memorable evening.

Soupçon is one of the best restaurants we have enjoyed this year, including some who have Michelin stars. The doors open at 6:20 for the single 6:30pm seating daily. Our dinner lasted until 10pm. If you are looking to rush in for dinner, Soupçon isn’t for you. This is an experience and IMHO, well worth it! The technique and care for the ingredients was obvious from the first bite (a butter basted king crab bite on a homemade chip - topped with caviar!) to the final deconstructed local peach “cheesecake”. This was also one of the most expensive dinners we’ve had this year. I opted for the wine pairing (note: the dessert wine was one I am already looking to find locally). While “expensive” we would absolutely return (if we were lucky enough to get a reservation) if ever in Crested Butte again. Soupçon is a special treat and I am so glad we got to experience their talents and passion!

First time visit for us, and the tasting menu was the only option for this late summer window. However the food quality and service were both exceptional. Chef John and his team crafted a very memorable dining experience. The price is very steep, but the food was wonderful, and was comparable or better than any meal I've had the pleasure of eating in NYC, Tokyo, or LA.

We drove 2.5 hours one way to have our anniversary dinner at Soupcon because we've been there once before and never forgot how amazing it was. Soupcon is worth every. single. penny. They have taken the time to ensure their dining guest are treated like royalty. They remembered our names, they were attentive throughout the evening but not overbearing. The owner even took the time to come out and say hello! Oh...did I mention the food??? THE FOOD!!! I can't even begin to describe how friggen good the food was. All of the flavors simply danced around in your mouth. Each plate that came out looked like a Picasso painting...a work of art indeed. And the amount of food was perfect. We left without feeling that dreaded overstuffed feeling. We left feeling good and well fed! I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a cozy and relaxed place to visit on special occasions.
