I was seated at my table within 5 minutes of arriving which was great. After that no one came to tell us how the service worked. I then realised there's a QR app to order to your table, which I thought wow very modern..worst thing ever! My drinks were delivered within 10 minutes (reasonable). However my starters and mains took 3 hours to arrive. I made several enquiries and practically lost my temper. We ended up with our food 20 minutes before the restaurant closed and had to be asked to take our drinks with us! Never again!

I had a fantastic dining experience at Soul Mama! From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a lively buzz that made us feel right at home. The location itself is lovely—perfect for a relaxed meal with friends or family. The food was truly wonderful. I ordered the lamb neck with rice and peas, and it was absolutely delicious—tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The plantain was so good that I ended up ordering extra, and I could have kept going! Our table was also treated to a steady flow of wings, each batch as tasty as the last. Service was friendly and attentive, and the overall vibe of the restaurant made for a memorable evening. Soul Mama is definitely a place I’ll be coming back to, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for great food and a great time.

The Food was amazing and served hot, the service was great the staff were kind and catering! The decor was really lovely of the restaurant was lovely and ambience and soft music in the background

This was terrible! We didn’t even get to eat there! Firstly we booked a table for 3 people- upon arrival they said that it only a booking for 2. We showed them the booking confirmation from OT. Then they said they had a private event on and were sold out and that OT should have communicated this on their website! Then they said, you can wait until 9:30 when the show is done you will be seated as the kitchen reopens at 10pp and we can order food, please bear in mind our original booking was for 8:45pm. We waited until 10:00pm only to be told that it’s a limited menu that’s only has chicken wings and patties!! What an absolute waste of time… the management were rude and avoidant. We could have easily moved on if we had known about the limited menu. OT - you need to be more clear on your website as well. So the fault is OT’s and SM!!! Both a huge let down.

Terrible experience - after travelling we were turned away because they were doing rehearsals for a show later that night. If the time slot wasn’t available, you’d think that they would have the know-how to ensure that you couldn’t book a table for that time. Organisation and professionalism was clearly lacking

The venue, ambience and service was very good during our lunch visit on Friday 25/4/25. I scored lower in some areas as we ordered the Jerk Salmon with rice and peas, which was bland, we could not taste any seasoning. We only had a main course with a still bottle of water and one mocktail that did not taste nice. The bill came to £80 for lunch, which was not value for money. I will visit again for shows and events but will not dine at Soul Mamas again unless the menu is improved

Me and one of my close friends went here for dinner and a few drinks, unfortunately there was no live music. However, the food was nice and the overall vibe of the restaurant was good, service was ok food did take a while to come out.

Our waiter Angel deserves a pay rise and a host position or something along those lines as she pretty much made our whole night. I’m not saying it was terrible, as the food was pretty good but a limited menu overall and the drinks were okay. I suppose for me, I just felt like I’ve booked this venue for our anniversary and the vibe was just off. There were charges for watching the music, which weren’t mentioned in the booking fees. Which is kind of awkward, because it’s not like you can’t see/watch the music with the way the venue is set up. That being said, we were placed originally on a table in an amongst literally everyone that was in dining at that time, which I found very odd bearing in mind I’d emailed ahead and explained that it was an anniversary. When we asked to change tables, we were initially placed on a separate table at the back of the venue, right behind a pole which made absolutely no sense as we then couldn’t see the music that we had paid for. So we had to ask to move table again. Overall the music is very loud, which I think is fine but when you are dining, perhaps something with a few less decibels or begin the music slightly later when most people have finished dining. The music was okay, but definitely not as good as or what we’re used to for a jazz café/restaurant. I think the icing on the cake (there’s irony here) is that I had emailed the head to you. Explain it was an anniversary and asked if something could be done with the desert for this. To which I was told yes they could decorate the play et cetera however my partner didn’t know that I had done this, so then when he asked the team if they could decorate the plate for our anniversary, they said they didn’t know if this would be possible. Which I found really odd considering emailing the venue prior to the booking. All in all, experience wasn’t terrible, but as you can understand it wasn’t great. If it wasn’t for Angel , I think we would have felt even less enthusiastic about it.
