We stopped here on our vacation and the food was fabulous. We had very good service and they had very nice ambience. We will be back
We unfortunately had a poor experience at Sorrento's, after having visited ~10 times in my life. My parents and I stopped by for a Monday night dinner, only to be left with a very poor taste in our mouths. The service was awful, it was impossible to get a refill for our waters, the martini was served in a champagne glass, and they were out of wine glasses to serve us our bottle of Cabernet. The caesar salad was excellent, to say the least. My mother received linguini with clams that had a disproportionate amount of red pepper on it, making it inedible. We told the server who proceeded to apologize, but then brought us the bill and still included it on the bill. That is a terrible practice, to charge patrons for a completely uneaten dish. I will say we were very disappointed having been local to the area for many years. I will not be returning.
My wife & I stumbled upon this amazing restaurant on accident when we were told of. Long wait time elsewhere. What LUCK. We live 2 1/2 hrs away and it has became our favorite spot to to dine now. We’ve been back 4 times in 5 weeks! AMAZING Brunch & the Man in the Blue Jacket is the best! Highly recommend! Food is great, atmosphere & service is better! Don’t miss out on the brunch!!
Food was fabulous, staff was friendly. Highly recommend!
We had a lovely table outside, and brought our little dog. Their patio is covered and has heaters, so if you're looking for an outdoor spot, this is a nice one! Chicken Marsala was fabulous, and my husband had a seafood dish, also delicious.
Sunday brunch. Great selection, prompt service and appropriate social distancing. Mimosa and Bloody Marys were good. Enjoyed the artwork and ambiance, too.
This was my 4th time at Sorrento’s as a visitor to the area. I’ve always enjoyed their italian food. This time I tried the chicken piccata. It was good but not as good as the lasagna. Overall our service was slow. Our waiter was not very attentive, but he was nice. The one thumbs down is that they have implemented a new policy whereas if you don’t pay cash and use a credit card you get a 4.5% surcharge. Knowing that credit card companies do not charge 4.5% for a merchant account, I thought this was a little steep. Also the seating off to the side room took away from the ambience and vibe of this good location. Sit outside if weather permits.
Xena was awesome!
Average, average, average. Nothing spectacular about this restaurant. Covid-19 protocol was shaky at best inside. People in the bar area walking around close tables squeezing past people. I then asked to sit outside which was much better. Servers are students from the nearby college. I will not make the drive to dine hear again. Average all around experience.
Exceptional food and service from Heather. Numerous specials offered, chose the wild salmon entree that was delicious. Friends had steaks and a chop, also yummy. Highly recommend.
Great service and food.
Everything was great...especially the service! Everyone was very friendly!
Some of the best italian food in the entire area!!! Great service, fun, love new outdoor spaces and all the different options for dining inside or outside.
As residents of Banner Elk, NC, we dine at Sorrento’s often. It’s a fabulous restaurant that we love to bring our out-of-town guests. The meal tonight was excellent as usual and Laura, our waitress, was the best. The jazz band playing in the upstairs Chef’s Table area was enjoyed by all.
This restaurant was mobbed with people on a Saturday night many of whom were not wearing masks. Made us uncomfortable.
You will not make a mistake eating here—make your reservation now!
Trout with a beurre blanc sauce was fabulous. Great food. Great service. Lovely outdoor patio in back.
We were really disappointed with the quality of the food. Our chicken parmesan sandwiches tasted like they had been made with prepackaged frozen patties. Nothing tasted fresh except for the French fries and the sandwich rolls! The sandwich itself was tiny.
Raven was delightful and Anthony most accommodating as always.
We had been to Sorrento’s previously for Saturday lunch, this was the brunch menu (which we were unaware of until after being seated). Menu is very limited, and there are NO substitutions (we asked for salad instead of fries for example). Service was very mediocre, often times with empty glasses...our food was delivered at separate times (we were finished with our meal prior to our Son getting his pizza). Very disappointing in that there was no Italian on the brunch menu (lunch was not offered). We may go back, but not for brunch...
No complaints on the food.
Was a bit put off that the pricing on the open table online menu and the website menu was different than the in person menu.
Substitution charges were not explained and seemed excessive; waiter admitted he should have explained it.
During dinner a stray cat came into the dining area and defecated next to us while we were eating. Waiter said the cooks feed it and that’s why it hangs around the restaurant. As you can image kinda ruined dinner for us.
Gluten free options need to be a little more exciting but still love your restaurant!
Outside covered patio is the best but it was the last option offered to us after we actually sat elsewhere. Service was good after initially sitting 10 plus min without anyone stopping by table. Would suggest hostesses take drink order when they seat you as we didn’t mind waiting but having a drink would’ve helped.
Loved the food & the outdoor dining space!
We made a reservation. We arrived a bit early and were seated promptly. Unfortunately, we were seated in the bar area. My sons were hungry and did not want to wait for a table in the dining room. The bar was had moderately loud music and large TVs. It was not a quiet or relaxing dinner for me. We were told no tables were available in dining room. The party that arrived just after us were then seated in the dining room right after we were settled in the bar.
Great wine list. Good prices for the delicious food. Excellent service.
Very good food and service! We will go back again!
Lovely Brunch and wonderful service--the Eggs Benedict and accompanying potatoes were a delight!
Although it can be noisy in the main dining room we had very good meals and enjoyed our evening.
Great meal - super service from John!
Food and service were excellent!
We had tried Chef's table last time and were very happy so this time we wanted Italian. Our meal was excellent as was the service. Mr. A's clams were fantastic, garlicky and served with a tasty broth over big chunks of bread, we'll get that next time for sure.
Open table showed only two spots available at a good time for dinner on the Saturday we were in town so we booked as it turns out, there was only one other table occupied on our side of the restaurant and shortly we were the only ones there.
We had a wonderful evening and excellent service from our waiter, Lauren. The food was quite good. My tortellini with prosciutto was superb and better than my husband's "just OK" lasagna. My main disappointment and suggestion for improvement would be fresh parmigiana ground at the table rather than a shaker of powdered "cheese". All the truly superb Italian restaurant offer it. Overall, very good experience but not great.
Always good food and good people watching. Love the menu and Zach was our server and he was very good!
Tried the Lasagna again. I find it a bit below par by my expectations.
My wife enjoyed her Mahi Mahi very much on the other hand.
Food is consistently good and Matt was excellent as our wait person - thanks!!
We had the table by the music which made conversation a little difficult but it was a most enjoyable evening.
Our order was lost and we had no feedback when when we asked about the order. The waitress finally admitted the order was lost after nearly a 45 minute wait. The waitress tried to get the manager to come to our table, but he refused.
We go here twice a week! Love the place great veal parmigiana
Great food & service and enjoyed dining on the patio.
