Never got a chance to eat. They were busy but hostess did not know how to handle a crowd. Kept telling me 5 or 10 more minutes. After countless inquiries and 1 hour past reservation time we just walked out.
Waitress was super perky but talked so fast we had to ask her to repeat herself. Linguini and clams was awesome but crab cakes were mushy andVERY bready with almost no crab plus one had a definite cold spot in it. Really disappointed and then we ordered coffee snd dessert. Regular coffee came out cold … and decaf was lukewarm. Sent back the regular and I think they nuked it but not enough. Finally on 3rd attempt the cup was ‘warm’.
I’d say stick with Italian fare there. We heard the pizza is good. Didn’t try that. Wasn’t really worth what we paid.
What started out very poorly ended up being a fairly good evening. When we arrived we were told our reservation wasn’t ready which isn’t unexpected. We waited and were eventually taken to a high top table in the bar area after specifically reserving a non-bar table. This was due to having elderly guests with us. Eventually the hostess “found” a table in the dining area. Our waitress was delightful and salvaged the evening.
Good food noisey
Very busy. Food cold but waiter heated it willingly. Good waiter Food average. Still glad we visited. Owner spoke with us which was nice He wanted to make sure we were OK He spoke to others too
Quality of food was excellent. Never disappoints.
Our first time dining at Sorrento. I would definitely recommend! The food was fresh and the portions were generous. Our server was good, but could have been just a smidge better. The environment was vibrant, a little on the loud side, but we found it refreshing. Definitely lots of energy for an overall great dining experience!
Place was really overcrowded but once seated the services was fast, servers were great
Staff was friendly and courteous. We were seated at a table that should not be there in the first place. The table was right where the waiters and staff would enter and exit the prep area and where everyone entering and leaving the dining area would pass. I ordered coffee and had to ask for cream I used my knife. The lack of training and professionalism was obvious. This is certainly not a good reflection on Sorrento’s Italian Bistro and Chef’s Table.
Very nice meal and excellent service. Hostess appeared overwhelmed and inexperienced but otherwise evening was delightful.
We enjoyed our meal at Sorrentos. The room was noisy, so it was difficult to talk, but it was also a busy weekend and we knew from comments it would be noisy.
You should not have a table in a main hallway for the restaurant. It was loud, take out was happening right at our table and our waiter kept being bumped into. He was the best part of the evening. Disappointing!
The service was very slow and they were not that busy. We did not have a waitstaff acknowledge us for several minutes and then it took another 15-20 to get a drink. Food was subpar. The vodka pasta was swimming in sauce that was very tangy and not at all like your typical vodka sauce. My son's manicotti was bland and dried out. The restaurant is rated as one of the tops in the area so maybe we hit it on a bad night (Tues).
Great experience as always!
The rolls and Mediterranean Salad were yummy! My pasta with clams had a lot of clams. They used a spaghetti like thin noodle instead of Linguine. I thought that the pasta was not al dente and too soft. My wife’s penne al a vodka was delicious.
Assumed we were making a reservation for the Chefs table upstairs and were informed upon arrival that that’s “impossible to do online”??Manager was very rude about it but we ended up sitting downstairs in the Italian restaurant with the Chefs Table menu. Food was great but disappointed with how manager handled the misunderstanding.
Love eating outside at Sorentos! Beautiful afternoon in October.
Very nice dinner in the "wine room". Our server George was pleasant and attentive. Best veal marsala anywhere.
If you are looking for that fine dining experience this is the place. Yes it's spendy but it's worth the experience
I loved the food and the quiet environment. There was only one other party there (4pm right after they opened), but I had to wait a long time for refills, the check, and to go box. I still really like the restaurant.
My food was delicious. The service was excellent. Nice outdoor seating even in the rain we were perfectly dry. Nice wine list.
Christy did an awesome job as our waitress we were very satisfied.
Food was decent, nothing outstanding. We kept having to remind our server to bring drinks. One of our meals for a party of 4 came about 10 minutes after the rest of the meals were served. Probably wont return.
We were seated in the wine room. Food came too fast. Spinach lasagna was very wet. Traded it in for fettuccini Alfredo which had no taste. Was asked if I wanted Parmesan cheese, I expected fresh grated. The server just plopped a jar of sprinkle cheese on the table. Amount of food was for 4 people. Way too much and we had no refrigerator in our hotel room to bring the leftovers home.
Great food service was quick chicken Marsala was tender and sauce flavor was excellent
I dined at Sorrentino’s several years ago with a friend, and insisted to my husband that we had to go there during our fall weekend I. Banner Elk. I am happy to say that it was as good as I remembered! Definitely recommend Sorrentino’s to anyone visiting Banner Elk/Sugar Mnt/Beech Mnt!
Girls trip. We reserved the table by the fire pit a month before. We were happy with our table except another party was asked to be sat by the fire pit and then asked them to turn it down. They had the option to move to a different table but the restaurant chose to accommodate them. We were not happy with that. The food was great. Service was great but couples definitely out rank singles.
Food was absolutely delicious and the basil martini was perfect. I had the Tortellini Sorento and my husband had the Rigatoni Bolognese
Food was great service was great....They even cooked the calamari the way I wanted non breaded and is was great with wine butter garlic hot pepper!
Not a fan of the Sunday limited menu. Parm sandwich was not good, not even hot. Hubby had pasta and liked it. Did not come with salad or a roll .
Ordered pizza and the other 3 in my party were finished eating before I received my pizza. It was cold and I was never told when it was coming or that there would be a wait. Waitress never checked for refills on drinks.
Very poor and slow service. My son ordered a pizza the rest of us ordered regular entrées. The pizza came out 25 minutes before the rest of the food so therefore he ate his pizza by himself while we were all watching. When our food came out it was Luke warm. My friend ordered a chicken dish that was described as smothered in mushroom. There was 2 mushrooms total. My son ordered a meat pie pizza with extra bacon and it had very little meat on it. Was suppose to be with sausage, meatballs and bacon. Not the case at all. I would call it just a cheese pizza. The dirty martini was terrible way to mush olive juice it was like mud.
Would definitely not recommend this plan to anyone nor will we ever be back. WhT a shame such a pretty location downtown Banner Elk but terrible food and service.
Great food!!!! The atmosphere and staff were very accommodating. We went for our Anniversary dinner. We have been to Banner Elk 6 or 7 times with out going to Sorrentos. We will be back again. Fantastic place. Highly recommend!!!!!
We arrived on time & were promptly seated.
The wife chose the chicken parm & I had chicken marsala. Both were very good. The vegetables that came with my meal were fresh & cooked to perfection (that is not overcooked)!
We ate in the Bistro, and the noise level was high, making it a little difficult to converse at the table - otherwise a wonderful experience.
I stopped in for lunch on a beautiful Fall day. I was greeted and taken to a table and promptly brought a glass of water. My server, whose name I did not get, was pleasant and helpful, making recommendations. I chose a wine spritzer and the calamari salad - a plate full of greens, peppers, onions, Mediterranean olives, and a bountiful portion of delicately fried calamari. I was too full to order dessert, but a table of ladies nearby shared the flourless chocolate cake and it looked amazing. If you're in Banner Elk, I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
My date was excellent, food was good. We are on vacation, so I don’t know if we will have another opportunity to visit again.
The food was great! We had Spinach lasagna and the shrimp entree. Both were excellent.
It took over an hour for our food to arrive. We watched multiple tables get seated 30+ minutes after us and yet their food came before us. We had only ordered two items. They tried to use the excuse that the kitchen was backed up but if that was the case, others wouldn’t have gotten their food before us that came way after us.
Reservations were made at the wrong restaurant. When we tried to cancel the restaurant claimed we didn’t have a reservation. Open Table was no help in resolving the error
The place is really nice and the service was great. We all had such high hopes for this place. The food was disappointing to say the least. My cavetelli
