Sophia’s was the bomb. Perfect dinner after graduation. Made for an exceptionally special evening. Will definitely be back!
Love Sophia’s. Great food and ambiance. I was a bit disappointed they didn’t do anything special for my girlfriends birthday though. I mentioned it on my reservation with open table and even reminded the server when we were there. In the past for birthdays we’ve received the works- champs, bread service, dessert, etc. Don’t really remember much about the service, just not memorable- wasn’t bad and wasn’t great (which i think is fine for a larger group). Altogether, I enjoyed the experience of Sophia’s and will definitely return again.
I booked a a reservation for my boyfriend's birthday. When I had made the reservation, I was told I would be seated in a booth. When I got there, the hostess seated us in an uncomfortable two-top. I asked her if we could be sat in a booth, as this is how I made the reservation. She told me no. There were only about four tables seated at this time. When we left the restaurant, there had been no other guests, so I am uncertain as to why our table couldn't be changed. Aside from that, the Artichoke appetizer was not cooked and the leaves were hard as a rock. Food was "meh" at best.
Love did her prosecco toast for my birthday! The place is still great and the food was really good! Can’t wait to go back
The interior atmosphere can't be beat. It feels very loungy and intimate. This restaurant feels like it has been around a long time, and is established. Our appetizers and wine were great, but our entrees didn't have much flavor. I had spaghetti with pesto and there wasn't a single flavor of the pesto that stood out. If I had my eyes closed, I wouldn't have known what I was eating. I would try it again, and order something else next time.
Visiting from out of town
The vibe is great. Low light, good music and the place looks great! The service was a little off meaning the waitstaff seemed overwhelmed. The pace was a little slow and details were missed (order a side that was not delivered) The food was 50/50. I order a steak and that came out perfect - I'd order that again! My wife ordered the bolognese and it was just OK (kind of bland) which was surprising because the place seems like every dish should be killer.
Enjoyed the DJ. He was playing good stuff that kept the place hopping. Curious if the song selection moves to more chill Hip Hop stuff later in the night?
The restaurant was warm. The air conditioning didn’t seem to be keeping up. The service was good. The food was delish too!
Overpriced for the quality
We were not impressed with the food at all. The space is cool but if you’re looking for a delicious meal, this is not the place. The s’mores dessert was amazing and the best part.
The food was pretty good. We ordered an octopus appetizer for a table of 4 for $18 that only came with 2 small octopus legs and lots of vegetables. That was pretty disappointing for $18. The entrees were great and our server was very friendly and attentive. However, after our meal was served we never saw her again. We got a new waiter with no real explication for the switch and our new waiter seemed to keep forgetting about us. Food was good, service could have been improved upon.
Food was excellent. We especially enjoyed the meatballs and baked spaghetti
Extremely slow service. Everyone in our party had amazing food except 1 person, so overall the food was excellent. The server seemed to forget about us a lot, and our drinks ran low, checks took a long time to be delivered, and needs went unmet for quite some time. Will return but hopefully we will get a different server.
The food was smaller portioned but really flavorful and filling!
Best Italian in Austin!
Our table was not ready when we arrived, even though we had a reservation. It was a Friday night, so this was to be expected. After being seated, salads and apps were ordered and received pretty quickly. We ordered entrees upon receipt of apps, but the wait time was longer than customary. Another table seated after us received apps, entrees, their check and the table cleared before we received our entrees. Apologies were made stating that the kitchen was backed up, but that doesn’t make sense if other tables came and went around us. All in all it was an okay experience, but we are unlikely to visit again.
Food was delicious, the special was pecorino risotto with lobster. There was a ton of delicious lobster on top.
Only wish there was a gluten free dessert for me.
Was well worth the drive in from Hill Country before the Ballet
Nice place with a dark “club-like” ambiance combining traditional with modern in a below the street location. Food was very good. Accommodating staff and a diverse menu.
Food was lame. Had the chef special, salad, grilled octopus, grilled artichokes, cheese cake and butter cake. Everything was was mediocre for $120. Appetizers took 40 minutes, main entrees took over an hour.
Our service was amazing, waiter, food, overall a good birthday!
Daily special was Seabass; it had an extremely "fishy" taste. Value of bottle of wine was not good.
Really average experience where service was slow and the food value did not match the cost. Sadly not coming back.
Delicious fresh pasta dishes!
Great lounge music and nice atmosphere. Would recommend for a group. Service could use some help.
Quiet booth for romantic dinner with wife.
Service was excellent. Offered sample to taste wine. Food was very good. Baked artichoke, risotto and filet mignon. Caesar salad was just ok but dressing was good (slight flavor of blended anchovies in dressing)!
Great location and menu. Service was exceptional and chairs were plush. We are going back!
ambiance was fantastic, our waitress was very attentive, Dj was awsome!
We had made reservations for two a week before but my husband invited a relative to join us about noon the day of...sooo I called at 4:00 knowing I might have to cancel if they didn’t have a place for us. Kyle came through for us. We each had a seafood dish that was well prepared and beautifully presented. The service was good but has room to improve at times, maybe he thought we were too engrossed in conversation to interrupt-we weren’t neglected for sure. A suggestion though, let your customers know you serve a spiced tea, the clove caught the guys off guard. We will be back.
Absolutely amazing experience! The food was delicious, service was great. My boyfriend and I dined here from out of town-and we are so happy we did!
Perfect. Service and food.
Ridiculously overpriced! I realize people have special requests and I did as for a salad. In my salad there was lettuce, small amount of avocado & green apple(which I couldn’t eat). I had requested a green salad with green vegetables only and for $15 it wasn’t what I asked for. There was a loss in translation obviously. Water was poured freely which was nice.
Little loud for our tastes, a whole bachelor party was sat next to us while we were trying to have a romantic dinner. Food was good though, service was pretty slow.
Our waiter was awesome. He was attentive, knowledgeable & friendly. We want a leisure dinner and that’s exactly what we got😊. We basically went with everything he recommended. Started with the Bruschetta, then the Caesar salad, we shared 2 pasta dishes then topped it off with the chocolate cake & a scoop of vanilla gelato. Best dessert ever!
Really cool vibes and ambiance.
I visited Sophia's to celebrate an anniversary and couldn't have been more pleased with the experience. From the friendly hosts to the knowledgeable waiter, the service we experienced made for a relaxing and comfortable experience. The wine list provided some excellent options and their handcrafted cocktails tasted delicious. We decided on some pasta - you really can't go wrong with any of their pastas - and the chop: impossible to decide which was better.
We went on a Tuesday, so the atmosphere was likely more quiet than normal. Still, I'd recommend this place for special occasions as there were many cozy seating options for couples or small groups.
Seated immediately. Attentive service. Food was prompt and excellent. Will be back.
Went for New Years. Didn’t know it was a preset menu until we got there. Would have been fine if it wasn’t $130 per plate. Everything was really good but I wouldn’t say it was worth the price.
Every dish was special and delicious. We had the chopped salad, sea bass, filet mignon, and the chocolate cake as recommended by our server (she said there is nothing compared to it in Austin and she was RIGHT!). We would highly recommend this dining venue!
