I have been here for happy hour & Sunday Brunch. Great music and food. Must try the truffle Mac n cheese !!!
If you want to go to a very high energy brunch where the music is great then come here. The staff was super friendly and attentive.
Fun brunch environment. A must go if you like fried chicken and drink specials with a live dj. Highly recommend for big groups/special occasions
Sons of Essex was cool for brunch if I would’ve known it was an unlimited boozy brunch I would’ve have gone though. The website is a bit misleading! Also the food could’ve been warmer but DJ was lit!
While the servers were friendly and nice, the food was average and it was extremely loud could not have conversation at the table. Wouldn’t go back.
This place is a hip hop brunch place. Very cool, delicious, but super loud. I went with family (teenagers) for brunch and we couldn’t hear each other at all.
Perfect spot to celebrate a bday. Food & drinks are great. Music is lively. Then DJ comes on around 10/10:30. Kitchen closes and this place gets very crowded. Nice crowd.
Food was very good and the Dj was amazing. We had a blast!
love this place. 5 stars for customer service, music, and food. Always have a good time when we go here
Group of friends and I were visiting from Chicago for the weekend and went on a Sunday for brunch. The music was great, food was pretty tasty, and the ambiance was lively. Our waitress was nice but the staff seemed like they were in a hurry to get us to leave our table. Some guy kept trying to take plates away when we weren’t done, and my friend asked the waitress for a small dessert for my bday and she did a little eye roll. Besides that we had a lot of fun!
The this place is awesome. I loved the food, service and crowd.
A really fun place - very loud, great people watching and the perfect place for a birthday etc.
Great atmosphere, old school hip hop music did not disappoint. They offer a limited menu for brunch, but the food was awesome!!!
The staff were very friendly and polite. Food was good value for money. And loved the vibe of the place!
So unimpressed with the burger. It just...wasn't good. And the "truffle" fries were nary even a trace of truffle. The server was overeager but her timing was all wrong, asking us if we wanted another drink when we had an almost full current drink and asking us how everything was a second after we got our food (and not returning once we actually tasted it). Someone else swooped in to take my husband's plate away literally as he was finishing his last bite. I guess they wanted us out of there quickly!
I used to love this place and was really disappointed by this experience.
A awesome spot great music
Our waitress, Emme, was so professional and treated us like a wedding planner. Every aspect of the time spent there was first class
The place was first class and the atmosphere truly exciting. That , and good food and drink, we could not ask for anything more
Great Sunday brunch. Try the lobster eggs Benedict.
Was expecting more. About five minutes after I got there my jeans ripped brushing up against our table. There was sharp meter edge - and honesty if it was a bare leg or hand the situation would have been much worse. Manager didncome over - but what do you do really? Ask him to buy you jeans that would be way more expensive than any thing you would orde? He suggested a tailor and a patch - but that’s really not going to work at the end of the day. He bought us around of drinks and turned the table around to conceal the sharp edge -I mean what else can you do at that point - but I fed don’t think he understood how much worse that would be with a slit leg, hand or wrist. I would just avoid the place. Sloppy management and really didn’t do much to deal with a bad situation
Loved this place. Once it started picking up, it was more difficult to get my waitress' attention but that is to be expected. They were incredibly kind and accommodating for my friend's 30th Birthday party.
The bouncer at the door was super friendly and helpful. The hostess very polite always smiling. Our bartender at the bar Eddie was the best very social which is a big key for me because it makes us want to stay more we had reserved a table and we didn’t even want to leave the bar he was great. Our server was on point with everything never had to call her over to ask for anything. There was also a gentleman who would come and ask if we needed anything . Our overall experience was great the music I loved.
Great atmosphere, old school tunes were dope. Food tasty and good drinks.
The food was subpar and so was the service. I had been there in the past and expected a similar experience.
The staff was amazing. We ended up in between 3/4 bachelorette parties but the staff made sure we were comfortable. The food was outstanding! We had the avocado toast and the steak & huevos! It was all really good. The music was maybe the highlight as it provided great ambiance! Highly recommend this place
My boyfriend and I decided to do a date night here. We ordered their whiskey wings for an appetizer, they were pretty good but you could taste in certain parts the liquor they use in the sauce and it was a little off putting. I ordered their roasted chicken, it was delicious! My boyfriend had their fried chicken with cornbread, he wasn’t satisfied. The wings were bland and very small for 3 small wings and 3 mini cornbread’s it was $24 so not happy about that. But our waitress and the rest of the waitstaff were super nice and fun. We would come back but wouldn’t order the wing entree again.
The food was good the service was great. It was nice eating brunch early before the crowds started. Would recommend
I was completely turned off by the poor service from the chef and management. The menu is not very extensive. I chose a Caesar salad which was $15 and then to add grilled Shrimp for additional $8. When they returned with my salad there were only 3 grilled shrimp. I am not sure what Market price they were using for only providing three grilled shrimp but I asked the server who then went to the kitchen to inquire. The chef did not provide her with an adequate answer. She then went to management, who then told her either I could eat the salad with the three shrimp or choose something else. I thought that was crazy so I decided not to eat at all. I wouldn’t recommend this because I felt that was extremely poor customer service.
Had a lovely dinner but the bartender was incredibly rude
It was amazing! The food was amazing and the zucchini noodles were to die for. The drinks are also really good and the service was exceptional. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone! I will definitely be back!
If you're aiming to have a real conversation, it's a bit too loud. We were there pretty early, before it got really crowded, but even then it was a little hard to hear one another with loud music playing. Meanwhile, it's a fun place, and the food is good.
Great time! The vibe was everything! Food was delicious! I would highly recommend SoE for a upbeat brunch environment.
Everything was amazing—food, service, ambiance, drinks, etc.. only complaint is the noise level was LOUD. Guessing people come in after boozy brunch at Beauty and Essex across the street? We went on Saturday night at 7. I’d advise going mid-week if you don’t want to have to yell over the crowd.
I would Only recommend because of the DJ and the Birthday stuff they have to offer. Our waiter was horrible!
I always have a great time here! Music is always good. Food is delicious. Energy is through the roof!
I made reservations for 11am and doors didn't open until 11:05am. It was about 90° outside and the air conditioner barley kicked in. The first time I came to Sons of Essex was in February which was the reason why we came back a second time. I was a little disappointed about my second impression. Staff should be a little bit more upbeat and welcoming. I didn't feel that energy or staff were still trying to wake up. I honestly don't know what changed since the last time I was there, maybe new staff but I think you shouldnt have 11am reservations if you can't make it on time.
If you're looking for a quiet brunch this is not the place for you. It's very lively and entertaining. The crowd is loud and having a great time! It's like a night club in a brunch setting. The staff is incredible and very accommodating. The food is incredible and the seats are comfy! Very reasonable pricing for the L.E.S. You can easily get a meal for $20. They have great sharing options for drinks too. I'll definitely be coming back!
Great service, delicious food especially the lobster mac and cheese. Good mix of hip hop music, not too noisy, great vibes. Our waitress Sam was very attentive, she was sweet and gave us excellent service! Will definitely be coming back.
