                                                                                                  Really slow service and the music was so loud and really poor acoustics! The food was good but not worth how annoying and frustrating it was as an overall experience.

                                                                                                  We have loved this place and return often but tonight was problematic. They did not have menu items and only two of four desserts. Still waiting for the dessert and finally gave up to make our concert. We will try again perhaps but disappointed tonight.

                                                                                                  We love to go to Sonata before the shows at the Mahaffey. It's just so convenient!!!! The food is great and a good value. We love the Gasparilla salad. It's not too heavy before the show.

                                                                                                  I dined with two other women, and our experience was positive. All three of us had the special soup, "buttermilk" squash. It was tasty and a great start. I had the mussels for an entree, and they were cooked with a cream sauce that was highlighted with gorgonzola, pepitas, and bacon. It was flavorful and unique. Others in my party had the Wagyu sliders and the Gasparilla salad. All were prepared and presented attractively and satisfactorily. Sonata still struggles to be a complete fine dining experience. There are no specialty coffees to finish the meal. A bowl or receptacle for the mussel shells was not provided. The waiter had to be asked to refill the water glasses. It will not earn five stars from me unless it is truly remarkable.

                                                                                                  This was our first time and we won't be back. The menu is very limited and overpriced for what you're getting. We decided to try it as we were attending a concert in the adjoining theater. We sat for about 10 minutes and watched another party of two who came in after us receive water and have their order taken. When I asked "their waiter" if we could get water he seemed surprised we hadn't been served but didn't know who was assigned. When I asked for a substitution to my order (a green vegetable instead of mashed potatoes) the server hesitated and then suggested they might be able to double up on the green beans which is what happened. I was hoping for another vegetable but apparently the selections are extremely limited. The staff mentioned this was due to "the hurricanes". I ordered the short rib and my wife ordered the day boat special - red snapper. The quality was mediocre and the portions were average. Again, nothing to justify the hefty price tag of $54 for the snapper and $45 for the short rib and green beans.
