Somerset Grill at Vespera Resort on Pismo Beach

Cool dining area. Staff was very nice, food was mediocre. Wasn’t a huge fan of the burger but ahi was delicious. The location is beautiful and has cool fire pits. The deck is dog friendly which was great!

Great service and lovely view from outside patio. Food was very good, would have like a starch included with swordfish.

Friendly service and nice atmosphere with splendid ocean-views from outdoor patio and fun people watching. Enjoyed the live guitar music nearby. Unfortunately, food was not memorable other than tasty truffle fries. Pea risotto was too salty, salmon was just okay, and it took too long for dinner to arrive even though the restaurant was not crowded. Definitely overpriced for what we got and for all these reasons, we wouldn’t dine there again.

Swordfish was excellent. Staff extremely knowledgeable.

Ambient noise quiet for conversation among four adults outside seating. Service was amazing and drinks and wine well appointed. Loved moving to the fire pit location after dinner. We'll return for sure. Valet parking for dinner guests as well as Hotel guests! A plus in my book.

The service was amazing! The menu options were wonderful and diverse- definitely possible to have a healthy meal if that is what you are looking for. The cocktails were all made with fresh squeezed juices and were delicious! Right on the water and with live music outside by the firepits. If you choose to eat indoors- the decor is beautiful.

Our wait person was excellent and very friendly. Unfortunately no one acknowledged our anniversary that was noted in the reservation, so we paid for our own dessert. I will say that I did love the chowder ingredients. However, it was a little thin and very salty. The view wasn’t what we expected. We were hoping for an ocean view, but it was mostly a view of the resort.

Lovely, attentive staff and great vegetarian options

What a find! Looking for an outdoor lunch spot after our college tour and Opentable threw this one up. Lovely property, super nice service - free parking for 2 hours. Food was really good - chef was kind enough to put together a veggie sandwich for my vegan daughter and it looked great.

We will definitely be back!

Excellent food, good excellent service and super friendly to our kiddo making her feel great about her coloring :) oh and dont miss out on the burrata- it’s amazing.

We had a good special occasion dinner, but honestly it wasn't up to the expectations. I had expected from the new ownership and management that wants this to be resort. It was a bit disappointing.

The server and manager were very nice and showed they cared. However, the server did forget a small ask when we arrived and had to be reminded.

The food was good, but not exceptional based on the price point of the entrees. The fish choices weren't local (salmon, swordfish and ahi) which I would have expected here on the Central Coast. We had the swordfish and ahi. The swordfish was good, but a bit dry for my wife's taste, however, the carrots served with it weren't really cooked, it was like eating a raw carrot. The ahi by itself wasn't that flavorful, you really needed to add the sauce as the way it was prepared didn't add much to the taste.

We sat outside and had expected a view ocean, but it was mostly blocked by the pool. We had been here before for a lunch and thought there was more of a view. In fact, we really enjoyed the lunch which was pre-COVID and thought the dinner, particularly with the new management committed to resort service, would be more memorable.

Candidly, this wasn't our first choice, but we couldn't get into our favorite Ventana Grill so we tried this place instead. I think we'd do a lunch again, but probably not going to return for a dinner.

There was particles in the ice that they served and the their response was not satisfactory.

Most expensive white wine on menu was “cork tasting”. Our main entrees completely forgotten. They remembered us while the place was closing down. Requested a sunset table outside. Marginal beach view and no visible sunset from our table. They did comped us the entrees. Poor experience overall.

Fun east coast seashore vibe and an earnest staff are the highlights. The kitchen needs to work out some kinks though the bar has hit its stride.

Food was delicious in the atmosphere was great. Portion of food for an entrée was small.

The food was horrible. Over cooked and dry on both of our dinners. Such a shame as the hotel was amazing Will not eat there again.

We were disappointed on this, our first visit to the Somerset Grill.

As a Marriott Titanium level (for life), I have experienced many fine Marriott meals...this was not one of them.

While our server Monica was reasonably attentive, the restaurant must not be staffed to provide very good (forget even thinking about excellent) service.

The time it took to have our food prepared and delivered was not reasonable.

Of the four entrees we ordered, the BBQ Chicken was not quartered as we had been told it would be and it was dried out and tough to cut.

The Lobster Pasta had minimal sauce and was served warm, not even close to hot.

The grilled swordfish was also served only warm, but had a nice taste.

Finally, the Greek salad topped with Salmon was the tastiest item we ordered.

The hotel charges $5.00 per hour for valet parking but provides a two hour credit. We needed every minute of the credit due to the slowness of the service (we didn't even order dessert, as we were not sure how much longer we would have to wait).

The food was delicious, and the service was excellent and a great setting.

The hostess needs to be better trained. I have been there twice in the last two weeks, with a reservation, and when I arrived at the hostess station she told me I was too early to be seated (10 minutes early) and lectured me on the inconvenience to the server for us to be early. Very poor customer service at the beginning of our meal. It made me feel very turned off to Vespera and I will not be going again for awhile.

Food took too long to be served and everything tasted rather bland.
The server was friendly but we felt like she was rushing us when taking our orders.

Great food and service!

Delicious food, amazing views and fabulous service.

We had the salmon and swordfish entries - outstanding preparation and presentation. Same was true for dessert, cheesecake and chocolate mousse with cappuccinos. Server was wonderful. Dined outdoor to watch sunset, beautiful setting. A little chilly, but the plexiglass enclosure keeps the breeze down, and heaters warm it up. Live music inside (Saturday night) was somewhat loud for conversation, but outdoors was perfect. Will definitely be back!

Outstanding food and great outdoor dining.

The Somerset Grill at the Vespera hotel was terrific. The was efficient and very courteous. We ate at their beautiful bar, which seats customers on all sides. Valet parking is free for the first two hours, which I blessing in downtown Pismo, particularly in the summer months. The Resturant is roomy and the outside area look to be a very nice experience also.
