Expensive given average food quality. It was nice being outside but I'm not sure we would return.
The food just wasn’t good enough for the cost. Our server was nice, but not very attentive. However, the atmosphere is nice.
Service -- thank you Suzanna - was perfect; food delicious and we got to sit outside. I have have been to this place for all meals now and they deliver every single time! Love Somerset!
This was second time here and a very different experience. The service was slow and inattentive. I was hosting a friend from out of town and specifically asked waiter to give ME the check not my guest. She objected and insisted. Speaking to the waiter I said no “ I called it first; please bring the check to me” . Well he came and handed it to my guest who insisted. I was outraged he would do that. He should have graciously brought it to me out of reach of my guest’s grasp. This embarrassed me; I blame him. In addition, the kale salad was nothing like I had the first time. Water and coffee were neglected. Maybe not so top tier when busy. Sorry, that’s your business.
Too expensive for what it is offered. There are much better places around for brunch or lunch. Skip it if you can find reservations somewhere else. The ambiance is not friendly. Very limited menu. Very average food. Service is great.
There’s only one word to summarize the experience “outstanding”
One of the best burgers in the city, hands down. Great vibes, food and drinks.
The decor and ambiance of the restaurant were top notch. Sat on the patio and enjoyed the people watching on Rush Street and the bliss of a Chicago Summer Day.
Disappointed venison dropped from menu. Waitor a bit too rushed, not comfortable, food service was a good pace, needs some specials to keep customer interest
Grreeat for lunch. Just go, you won’t be disappointed. Pricey, but you get what you pay for.
It was my parents’ 40th anniversary and everything was amazing. Thank you.
Somerset is a great new restaurant that is a perfect Saturday or Sunday brunch spot. The coffee cake is a must order. The ambiance is so wonderful and they don’t skimp on portions. Totally get your money’s worth!
Best fried chicken EVER!
Outstanding service and food
They do an amazing birthday: complimentary champagne and dessert, plus a specially printed menu with the birthday person’s name on it. The atmosphere is too notch. The food is good but nothing to write home about. Overall, the average food is far outweighed by the fantastic location, service, and atmosphere.
Excellent food and exceptional service. We were a party of 5 and our server was attentive, friendly and helpful. Very fun evening.
We celebrated our anniversary and the staff went out of their way to help us celebrate. We had a great outdoor table and a Fabulous meal. The personalized menu as a thoughtful extra touch.
I LOVED this restaurant so much. The Kale Brussels Sprout salad is amazing!
Impressive on every level. Outdoor seating is cozy, entire numerous waitstaff superb, salads are delicious. Reminds me of a better restaurant on Madison Avenue in NYC. Chic, competent and luxurious. Will return again and again. Love that they retained original Cedar Hotel neon sign. Classy call.
Try the beet tartare, really exceptional. The kale and Brussels sprout salad is delicious also.
Awesome brunch!! We will be back ASAP
Server was slow and confused
There’s nothing not to love about Somerset. Service is impeccable, and the food is rather simple yet incredibly delicious.
This was my third visit to Somerset and I highly recommend it if your visiting Chicago.
My boyfriend and I celebrated our birthdays here and we were beyond impressed. First off, our menus were personalized wishing us both a happy birthday which was awesome. For an appetizer we got the spanish octopus and it was perfectly cooked. For dinner we split the squid ink alla chitarra and the roasted duck breast. Both very delicious. Honestly, the portions were a little small (I definitely would recommend the full size portion of pasta), but overall we were satisfied when we left. We also each got a piece of chocolate cake for our birthdays and it was amazing. I definitely will be coming back to this restaurant. They have so many options and I want to try them all.
Delicious meal and amazing service! The beet tartare was off the charts good! We will be back!
This is a terrific place! The location is amazing, the food was very good and the service impeccable! The somalier was very friendly and they gave an interesting selection of wine. Awesome place!
The staff were incredibly attentive. We were celebrating my birthday and everyone was so kind. The waitress gave us great insights into the menu. The ambiance will bring me back. Loved the booth we were in-perfect for catching up and never felt rushed.
Outstanding rebuilding of what was a dilapidated building! Space well used to create quieter pockets for those of us who actually like to hear what our dining companions are saying. Over priced and undersized food options. Shared the Spanish octopus starter and the serving was minuscule and unidentifiable as octopus. Seared scallops at $35 for the entree came with a very small amount of vegetables! Given that’s the cheapest part of the entree, the scallops should have been sitting on a bed of them. And then there’s the $60 whole roasted chicken! Deconstructed carrot cake, a small sundae with not enough chocolate sauce, and Leo and behold, surprisingly large scoops of the sorbet.
I took a friend on Sunday for her birthday. Everything was fabulous!! Enrico, our server, was outstanding. He never rushed us, but was very attentive. The food was excellent! Great choices for Sunday brunch. Although I had been for dinner before, the was amazing.
Loved everything! Gorgeous restaurant!
Christine was our server and she was fantastic, as always! :)
Ambiance is so beautiful and fun, and the food is delicious! I highly recommend this restaurant if you want an entertaining night out with good food and good company.
Pleasant, lofty space w/ nicely done modern decor. Ricotta dumplings divine, kale salad and charred broccoli very good, salmon preparation uninspired/slightly dry, corn & cod fritters bland/overdone with too much mayonnaise in the sauce. Typically, it's more fun to eat at the bar, often with more attentive service, but the bartenders this night were pretty unengaged - the hospitality vibe was noticeably missing.
Once again Somerset came through with gracious service, lovely ambience and impressively prepared dishes. Among the favorites were kale & brussel sprout salad, kampachi crudo, striped bass and short ribs. Butterscotch pudding and Somerset sundae were ridiculous in a strictly good way. Everyone in our party was delighted and we look forward to further visits. Now if only they would upgrade the musical selections (way way heavy on the screeching guitars and thrashing percussion) and reduce the volume (depending perhaps on whether you actually wish to hear your companions) it would be nearly irresistible!
Outstanding service and, of course, the food was fabulous!
You made my friend’s birthday very special.
Thanks very much.
Had a lovely time at Somerset! The ambiance, service, and food were all terrific. We went to celebrate a birthday and everyone was sure to help make it special.
We had the corn & cod fritters which were very good! Excellent duck and ricotta dumpling entrees! Would definitely recommend and go back again.
The ambiance when we arrived included disturbingly loud thumping music. We were concerned that we would not be able to stay, but after asking the manager to lower the volume, he was able to turn down the speaker near our table which made it much better and bearable. The food was delicious with unusual preparations.
Loved the baked eggs, the smoked beet tartare, and the aperol spritz. The service was excellent and they catered to our dietary needs. Also, it was my friends b-day and she was given a complimentary glass of champagne and a small chocolate dessert with happy birthday written in chocolate on the plate.
