As always the food is consistently good. Service was great even though they were slammed and shortstaffed. I rarely go out for Italian food but this is a standup restaurant in my opinion
It was great. Our table was not the best (right by the bar and quite a lot of foot traffic so not ideal for some relaxed conversation) but it was good. They are really short staffed and I heard about it from some of the staff (really didn’t need to but I understand and I’m glad to support a local business hiring local. Our bartender was also our server so he had his hands full. Still his effort was noted. ). The wine selection and our pairing was excellent and the food was amazing. Really great place. Def will be back.
Pasta was fresh freshly house made and superb!! All of us (5) were pleased with our meals.
Excellent Restauarnt with superb food.
Thoroughly enjoyed being back at Solare and seated inside. From appetizer to wines to dinner and dessert, everything was excellent.
Love this place / the food and the people who run it!
We had a great time and the food was excellent! We'll be going back, for sure!
Rather disappointed in the restaurant. The lasagna was not very tasty and looked funny; my caesar salad had frozen lettuce and I think it had been previously frozen. The bread is still good. I think it has gone down hill somewhat.
It was a long time since I came to Solare, but it was a nice surprise coming back and seeing an updated menu. This time I found a couple of items that were really good. The salmon and their lamb chops. I also found that their pricing this time around seemed to be of a much better value for the price for both drinks and food alike and fairly priced. If you don't mind hearing the occasional planes flying overhead, this is a really great spot for a date night.
the food was fantastic but the service was slower than i would have preferred, i know everything is fresh and should take its time to cook and we did order a variety of food but that is why you have appetizers and bread and even then we were starving. i will definantely go back there but not with such a large group as our lunch was at over two hours and that is with us ordering before our next plate arrived so that the order would be in faster, and i kept having to call for more tea and water for the table, waiter was not in my opinion as prompt and attentive as he could have been.
We thoroughly enjoyed our Mother's Day lunch at Solare. Everything was awesome. This is a great restaurant for that special occasion. The "beef cheeks" were outstanding (special menu item), as were all of our entries.
Fantastic cocktails and bubble bar
Amazing Host and unbelievable staff
Solare is amazing. The food is awesome, they have something for everyone . I always get something different and it’s always spot on.
The food was well executed and delicious. The services was wonderful. We sat outside on the patio. The location is very close to the airport and under the takeoff path, so every few minutes (as opposed to every few seconds pre-COVID) conversations have to stop until the plane passes by.
Do yourself a favor and try the beef cheeks. Absolutely outstanding! I have never been dissatisfied with a meal here. The quality and flavors are top notch.
We come here frequently but this time the server was never around. The lasagna was also cold.
When dining at Solare's a month ago, a friend and I had outstanding food. I couldn't wait to go back and have the same entre. This time, my friend was served stone cold food. When the entre came back, it wasn't the same thing that was ordered initially, even though it was hot, the sauce was totally different on the pasta. My pasta dish had an over powering charred taste that ruined the whole entre.
Fun afternoon .. love this place
The service was so awful the food could never make up for it.
Our food was excellent. Had the salmon and it was prepared the way I like it and the presentation was A+..
LOVE THIS RESTAURANT!
Great food and service. Loved having a table on the lawn because it made me feel very safe. Everything was delicious.
We love Liberty Place and visit every time we come to visit San Diego yearly.
Solare was recommended on Yelp so we decided to give it a try with an outside seating reservation. It was perfect!
Our waiter was intelligent, kind,
and informative. We had our 5 yr old grandson with us and he made him feel comfortable throughout even presenting him with a special birthday dessert.
Our food was delicious and we had just about everything, bolognese, fettuccine, beef cheeks, scallop risotto, calamari...
I highly recommend this restaurant!
Very disappointed as we’ve enjoyed the restaurant pre-cOVID. We felt rushed and food was mediocre. Hoping it was just an “off night”, but doubt we’ll return.
Our food was delicious and presented beautifully. The service was very good. My only hesitation about recommending this restaurant is the noise. With the proximity to the airport, and our outdoor table, my mother and needed to stop our conversation multiple times, allowing for the plane overhead to pass by. The music was on the loud side for my mother, who was celebrating her 80th birthday. It seemed more geared to a younger crowd, with fewer hearing obstacles.
It was my first time, We were celebrating my husband's Birthday everything was delicious
The food was excellent, my cousin and i went on sunday afternoon for a late lunch and there was only one other person inside the restaurant. The lunch crowd was just leaving. The service was slower than molasses and i had to call them on more than three occasions, missing spoon for my soup that they served me and to refill our drinks and for sugar to my tea that i had asked for twice. But the food was incredible. This is why i come here and i will take the slow service. We started with the bread cheese and meat appetizer that was divine. then i had the salad with vineagrette instead of the honey mustard vineagrette and it was delicious. Then for my course i had the butternut squash cup of soup. This is the best soup ever.. i would have had seconds but i overate on the cheeses and figs and honey... It was delicious i highly recommend the food, just go with a long time on your hands, at least i got to catch up, and if you take your little ones like i did be rest assured it is kid approved. My son ate 7 of his 8 pieces of cheese pizza.
We come here often, when we’re in San Diego. It’s a wonderful meal, every time! The owner was on site this evening, talking with all guests. Great place for a really wonderful Italian meal.
Excellent personal service by owner Randy and Bar Manager Seth. The entire service staff really knows the Italian authenticity and origins of the menu items. Lasagna, Lamb chops, and Panna Cotta were to die for. This is a must eat restaurant when you are in Liberty District.
Always love this place but was a little off this time. The ravioli was very salty. The gluten-free pizza was dry and had very little cheese. But the bolognese and ciopini was excellent.
We had the chicken with an outstanding Cantrell mushroom sauce which was outstanding!! We ate outside on the veranda and that was very delightful. We had not eaten there for A number of months that were extremely impressed with their current menu which provided a lot of variety. In the past this election the menu is very limited. We will definitely go back again and look forward to it!
Very slow service and inattentive. Took 15+ minutes after being seated before we were asked for anything.. took an hour for the main course to get served... we were there for luncch at 1:30 pm on a Sunday and there were only 3 tables being served... no good reason to be sloooow... gave us one wrong pizza... lamb chops were good but the spinach side with the lamb was too salty... risotto with scallops was excellent.
Btw... I was there for dinner a few days prior... the service was slooow but I thought it might be because it was busy so I gave it another try... this time with my family. I don’t plan on coming back until they fix their service.
One of the best restaurants in San Diego hands down. Personal favorite for sure.
Solare never disappoints. Their service and food are phenomenal. Fresh pasta is superb and they prepare their protein dishes with delicious flavors. Salads and desserts are also very yummy! Prices are a bit steep but it's worth it for the quality.
They also did a very good job adapting and pivoting during the pandemic and should be commended for their resilience and hard work!
Food was not what i expected, it was overpriced and lacked great service.
Great food, accommodating service, and very nice atmosphere, except for the planes flying over. Still worth a visit, great way to spend a few hours on a nice day.
We ate on the outside patio and felt very comfortable because the staff were wearing masks and tables were well spaced. Our meals selected from the daily specials menu were delicious. Parking is ample at Liberty Station too.
Wonderful visit with best friend And niece And such a pleasing atmosphere and the service was exceptional!
First real "Friday Night Out" in a year - and totally worth it!! Excellent food, drinks, environment and service!!! Thank you!
As always, felt safe and precautions taken. Food was delicious and portions were generous. Service was fantastic, and even with the noise from the planes - the patio was lovely. One of our all time favorite spots!
