Sol Mar Restaurant & Marisqueira is one of the leading seafood restaurants in New Jersey. It is family operated, opened in 1957, and focused on authentic Portuguese & Mediterranean cuisines.     Love this restaurant! The food was amazing and our waiter Ramon was fantastic! He knew the menu and all of his recommendations were perfect! I ordered the octopus salad which was so fresh and tender and the 2lb lobster. Lobster can be a hit or miss and easy to overcook, but this one was right on point. I also love the fact that there was parking across the street. The Ironbound parking could be a little tricky. Thank you Sol-Mar, we will be back❤️

    We had an amazing dinning experience! The Seafood came fresh from Portugal the night before, with lots of varieties to choose from, everything tasted delicious! Definitely worth the splurge!

    Food was very good. Huge portions. Service was outstanding. Definitely will be back. You have to know that the private parking lot is across the street in the banks parking lot. Hard to see the sign.

    Tasteless food, some items were oversalted, others lacked any flavor whatsoever. With a bread basket a plate of goat cheese was placed on our table (we didnt order it). Found hair in the cheese plate, sent it back, they brought a new plate over, and sure enough another hair! I sent it back and told them not to bring it back. When we got the check, the cheese plate was on the check!!

    We went before seeing a show at NJPAC. The service was impeccable. We had never been, but it is now one of my favorite restaurants. Probably the best salmon and calamari I’ve had in my life. We will be back, we will let everyone we know that this place is amazing! I can’t wait to try more menu items! Oh, we brought home the passion fruit mousse and I wished we would have bought 2! It was so good I’ll be dreaming about it until I can get back there to get it again.

    The food was absolutely delicious. The grilled Chilean sea bass was cooked to perfection. It was so fresh and size portion was very generous. The maricada in salsa verde had that authentic Portuguese taste with big sized clams and mussels. I will definitely be back for more fresh and delicious seafood.

    Everything was great Service. Food value. Noise from kitchen area was extremely loud. Not cooks but the dishes were stacked all night and it was unbelievably loud. Such a minor thing but actually stopped some conversation. The table next to us commented on how loud it was as well.

    The worst experience of my life as far as dinning in a restaurant. The food was terrible and the manager was very mean. I don't recommend this place at all.

    The staff was great. We were going to a show and they made sure we had our food and check in a timely manner. The food was delicious. We had shrimp and octopus appetizers; amazing flavor and freshness. My friend and I shared the sea bass entree! Again delicious. the fish was so fresh and flaky. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

    The ambiance was very pleasant and the service was pretty good. I was disappointed with the food because it just didn’t taste fresh. The octopus salad had to be sent back and clams just didn’t taste right. The wine was good though. I don’t think I’ll be back to the restaurant.

    We hadn’t been to SolMar for a while since we recently moved. It was a great time getting together with family. The owner was very gracious as always and the food was excellent. This is certainly one place I will make sure I visit every time I’m in New Jersey.

    The atmosphere was cozy and the staff was friendly and attentive. Seafood selection is impressive and we decided to start with clams in garlic sauce and grilled octopus, both delicious. We ordered a nice steak Portuguese style and grilled halibut as main course. Caramel mousse and poached pears with Port wine was delicious. They have a great wine list and sangria cocktail you should try. The parking lot across the street is very convenient and I highly recommend this restaurant.
