Arrived for our 10:45 reservation for the Mother’s Day Brunch. Our table wasn’t ready so the host had to accommodate us over at Burdock + Bitters (bar area) instead. We grabbed several of the hot food items from the buffet line. The roasted chicken rice pilaf, mashed potatoes and braised beef cheek stroganoff were all cold. Lukewarm food I would tolerate but at $40 per person, cold food is unacceptable. We went back in line and waited at the made to order omelette station. The chef was great and the omelette fantastic. Our server Dustin was exceptional and apologized about the cold food items as he cleared plates from the table. Dustin said he would speak to both the chef and manager about our food. A manager stopped by our table and quickly mentioned how buffet food items temperature can vary.
1. We arrived at our reserved time and had to sit in the bar area.
2. Multiple hot food entrees were cold and inedible.
3. Manager did not properly rectify the situation for 2 obviously disappointed customers.
I’m greatly disappointed by my first visit to the Marriott and Society 1854. We left brunch hungry and unsatisfied after paying full price.
It's a beautiful space but something is off. At 7:00 we were only 1 of 2 tables occupied. Pork belly and grits as a starter were rich and delicious. Ordered a soup that was the special and got the potato leek instead. The waiter screwed up and offered to make it right but we were happy to share the potato leek. My husband ordered a chicken thigh sandwich and it was the largest piece of thigh I've ever seen with a potato salad as his side; lots of food. I ordered the wagyu steak and it was maybe 6 ounces with a weird potato "cube" that may have been larger than my steak and 2 tiny grilled green onions; it was a bizzare plating, wish I had taken a picture. Would have loved a vegetable. Most likely won't go back unless before an event at the Century Link.
Quite possibly, one of the worst restaurants for both service and food. Four of the beers that we tried to order were out/unavailable as of 8:30. The server didn’t offer samples of any other options but brought out a “similar” beer. We tried to order another and were told it was also the last one available-make it 5 out of 5 beers on their menu unavailable! The meal was served prior to finishing our appetizers. The meal was “ok to fair.” The server cleared the meal by picking up all the silverware and then the plates?!! I could offer more but I will leave it with saying “ choose another restaurant.”
Surprisingly well-prepared, thoughtful food for a restaurant inside a hotel. Pork belly and grits, and the deviled eggs were beautifully plated and delicious. The bar offers a nice variety. Our waitress was friendly, but she didn't know the bar menu very well. This was a nice place to stop by for a late-night bite. We look forward to returning.
We showed up early and were grateful that they were able to seat our party outside of the main bar where there was a lot of noise. We were celebrating a special occasion, and there were six of us. My husband asked about the special that was presented as a 14oz ribeye steak, he asked if the meat was 'prime' or 'choice', and asked to have a different item if it was not 'choice'. The server did not follow up with the answer to his question, and he was served the steak (that was not prime), it wasn't bad but was not what he had expected. He had ordered a different side than what was offered with the special which did not come out with the meal so we had to ask for it. Everyone else in the party enjoyed their meals, but it was nothing special. Despite being placed in a corner it was loud and difficult for two people in the party to participate in conversations (despite using their hearing aids).
Super quiet, which was perfect for me and my sister. Menu and beer list changes often, so be sure to ask what the latest & greatest is. Food was perfect and we'll be back.
Terrific craft cocktails. Menu reflected current local seasonal items. Well prepared, flavorful.
Food was ok-nothing extraordinary to write home about considering the price & other gems in Omaha. Appetizers were small for the price-3 deviled egg halves was just weird & small for an appetizer. What did they do with the other half an egg...just weird. And awkward to share with a table of 8. Service was good.
Amazing food and drinks, one of Omaha's best
We were visiting from Los Angeles. I loved the ambiance and service. The steaks were terrific. It was a bit pricey, but overall a wonderful experience.
From the moment we entered the staff was very pleasant and very inviting.
The Easter brunch not your typical ham and scalloped potatoes.
All the food and desserts very good.
We did not feel rushed, had great service and food.
Both Chef Hockenberry and Chef Seymour did themselves proud for their first time event like this.
Think we started a new Easter tradition, we will be back when in the area again.
Unexpected delight in the new Marriott Hotel! Our dining group, the FoodieO's, met at Society 1854 for the March gathering. Our server, Griselda, was knowledgeable about the menu and served us pleasantly and efficiently. We had the pleasure of speaking to the bar manager about the creative, and delicious, signature cocktails. The menu has a nice variety of choices. It would be a great place to meet friends before a game or concert at Century Link. Very nice addition to Omaha!
Extremely slow service. Upwards of an hour for a few salads and a burger. Not sure what the deal was. Food was okay, but hardly worth that wait.
Great food, service and ambiance....definitely must try!
Really enjoyed the space, very high ceilings, lots of glass. Beautiful space. What is odd is they only serve brunch on Sundays until 11 AM. Serving brunch until 2:00 PM or so would make a lot more sense. While we had to order off the lunch menu, the food was good. We had just hoped to be served brunch on a Sunday at 11 AM.
Well from the start had a reservation, arrived 10min early, there were open tables, but hostess refused to seat us (party of 2) until our exact reservation time. When we were at our table, the atmosphere was so loud, it barley allowed for any conversation, and then to add to it they were not offering the regular menu. We ended up, ordering hush puppies for appetizer, they were charred... black charred. I ordered a winter green salad, no chevre cheese, parmesan instead.... yep came with chevre and has to pick that off. My friend ordered the crispy pork belly. This lacked any seasoning, and was slimy instead of crispy. All in all we will never eat there again and were extremely disappointed in the service, atmosphere, and food.
We decided to give this a try before the basketball game. Checked the menu out online and thought many options looked good. Unfortunately, when we arrived we saw they had a special game day menu and the regular menu options were not available, which was disappointing. More bar food than the we were interested in. Our group had burgers and salads, which were tasty. Service was slow and inattentive. Waited 20 minutes for a second drink. The server realized he had forgotten and comped that drink which was nice. All okay if you come in with these expectations, but we had hoped for something more.
The restaurant is sleek and modern looking. The service was fine although my husband waited a long time for a refill on his drink and there were a total of 3 people in the place so the server wasn’t busy. He also neglected to bring back the food I asked him to box. I enjoyed my dinner but my husbands was pretty bland. Overall the experience was ok but none of the upscale restaurants in Omaha should worry about competition from Society.
Neat service I’ve had in Omaha - and I’ve lived here 25 years. One of our best restaurants in the city - and awesome bar as well for signature drinks
Made reservations for Valentine's day after looking at menu on line. The hostess declined our request for an open table by the window, saying it was unavailable. It remained open for 45 minutes before someone else was given it.
We couldn't order off of the regular menu as the had a special Valentine's day menu with only two options. The 4 course meal was creative and mostly tasty, though very small in portions. So small in fact we considered stopping across the street at DJ' to get some fries. The best thing about this place was the server and the cocktails. They were excellent! I live downtown so I really wanted to like this place for an easy return. I will likely go back to try the regular menu and hopefully better accommodations with seating. But I can't really recommend anything here but the bar.
Food and service were great! Definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for something a little different but very tasty! We came for Valentine's Day, they had a special menu planned for the night. Everything was delicious! We will be coming back to try the regular menu soon!!
A wonderful dining experience! Great food great service and excellent atmosphere!
So amazing, it felt so elegant and the service was phenomenal.
I really wanted to like this restaurant as the hotel is lovely.
Bartender was helpful- they were out of the scotch my husband prefers but he found a satisfactory sub.
Restaurant server was very green and very sweet but couldn't recommend anything as hadn't tried the menu herself. Food was ok- our filets resembled roast beef but tasted good.
Had a hassle getting a smaller version of the salad offering - when there are only 2-3 dining tables small special requests should easily be honored .
I will give it a second chance because I love the location .
The ruben sandwhich was sumptuous. Tad was a great waiter.
I arrived a full ten minutes early for my brunch reservation, and was not seated until twenty minutes after the initial reservation, so I waited for 30 minutes.
Then, once seated, we were told by our server that only the buffet option was available. We were not interested in that option, and after the frustration of a late reservation, got up to leave. The ridiculous manager, who was zero percent helpful, then told us we could in fact have the full menu. Needless to say, we decided to go elsewhere. Terrible service, lack of communication, lack of preparedness, and unaccommodating spot. I am severely disappointed. Do not go here.
This was my first time here. What a wonderful experience. Staff - OUTSTANDING, Food - OUTSTANDING, view - VERY NICE!! This is the type of restaurant you go to when you are in the mood to dine and not just eat dinner.
The salmon was so delicious. We were going to a concert at the Scott Recital Hall and picked Society 1854 because the Holland center restaurant was booked. Well - this is the new go to place for dining when we go to the Holland.
We really enjoyed our dinner at Society 1854! Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. The menu is very unique. A great place to get outside your box and try something new. The atmosphere was very nice. Everything we had was delicious! It's a bit pricey, but we will definitely go back!
Clearly one of Omaha’s best new restaurants.
Le service était vraiment bien et la serveuse était très disponible, un peu trop à mon goût pas le temps de discuter en tête à tête lol.Super belle expérience dans l'ensemble
Great spot. Handy location.
a very limited menu. No sunday brunch options including breakfast ending at 11 on sunday. Food was fine but nothing stood out.
This place is located in the lobby of the Marriott. (Didn’t expect that when I made the reservation). We were the only table on a Sunday night. Food was ok. Nothing to write about. We won’t return, just much better options elsewhere.
Ate here for a small business holiday party. The service was fantastic and the food was different and delicious. Our group shared rounds of cocktails, appetizers, and entrees, which were all prepared quickly and we appreciated that many of them were based on locally sourced ingredients. We all loved the decor and vibe of the restaurant- it felt very upscale, but trendy at the same time. Would recommend this restaurant inside the Marriott to others- especially for special occasions
Had a lovely dinner at this new and beautifully designed restaurant. Jac was our waitress and she was very friendly and helpful while we tried to decide on what to order (our favorites were the steak and the couscous) . She also made a great wine suggestion once we ordered. Looking forward to dining here again. It’s a welcome addition to downtown.
We went here for Thanksgiving. There was more food then we could possibly eat. The service was outstanding, and the food was wonderful. Everything came out hot, fresh and delicious. I would highly recommend this place if you want a quiet place for dinner or a meeting. Very quaint even though there is a bar across from it.
Food was fine, nothing special. Service was good and decor is beautiful.
Quiet table, nice server, food was good. Well come back.
1st time visit and entertained two customers. There was a disconnect between kitchen and service. My 1st drink choice was selected and waiter came back to advise they were out but did recommend another. After entrees we’re ordered waiter came to ask who had a certain entree which none of us ordered. Meals came out warm, not hot which made the meal in enjoyable. Most likely will not be back.
