Wonderful patio dining with heat lamp, attentive but non-intrusive staff, absolutely delicious food. The scallop appetizer was especially sublime.
Fantastic food and ambiance
I usually enjoy a very hood meal here. Food was not edible … puzzled?!?!
Great food, and very charming with the patio entrance and intimate dining areas. Very nice service as well.
Feels like you are at a European restaurant. Lovely Sat night dinner with friends.
Delightful evening…friendly staff and my scallops were delicious. We will definitely return.
Duck papardelle was superb. Service was friendly. Romantic hideaway.
Excellent menu and delicious food!
EXCELLENT SERVICE. VERY KNOWLEDGABLE ABOUT WINE. MEAL WAS EXCELLENT.
Delicious lunch. Everything we ordered was great. Our waiter was wonderful - friendly, helpful. He even suggested we could order half orders of pasta when we couldn’t decide which one to get. Very pleasant experience with a delicious birthday treat to top it off. Always will be at the top of my list.
Everything was delicious from start to finish. The sommelier was extremely knowledgeable and recommended an outstanding Italian wine. Each of our party of four had something different and we were all happy with our choices. I highly recommend Sociale, especially for those, like us, who haven't dined there in a while.
Owner and waiter were very friendly but halfway through our time there we were pretty much abandoned by our waiter. While the restaurant was fairly busy there seemed to be enough staff.
Hard to tell what happened but it affected our dining experience at a restaurant which seems to hold itself to higher standards.
Sociale’s patio is fantastic. A lovely time and the scallops and the special orecchiette with pork were fantastic
Outstanding! Stephanie, the maitre d, was exceptional
The salads were great along with the 2 pasta dishes, my game hen was burnt and I probably should have sent back. The deserts were also good. I think I will give them a pass as the kitchen is still probably recovering from Covid. Other all a fun place to dine.
The restaurant was was nice staff pleasant helpful and efficient
Tasty warm and served in a timely manner
Overall clean and very nice ambience
I will come back
Birthday treat. My first time Delicious food.
This is a great SF restaurant, set in the quiet Pacific Heights neighborhood, and I have been there dozens of times in 15 years, for quiet intimate dinners for two, and for weekends and mid-week dinners with family and friends. Great Italian food, done in an authentic manner, daily specials, a very good wine list, and attentive service. There are tables inside in a well appointed quiet dining room, and outdoor tables in a private quiet courtyard. Worth a try for both locals and tourists with an interest in well prepared Italian food in a relaxed setting.
Excellent food and service in a wonderful San Francisco hideaway.
Enjoyed a wonderful solo dinner while visiting. So nice to enjoy a lively setting while still feeling very safe. Courtyard seating was lovely, and they are serving indoors as well. The halibut was fabulous, as was the Barolo recommended by my server. Highly recommended!
We found the service staff to be "disengaged" - our food was sort of thrown at us by the servers and there was little attempt to be pleasant, except for the sommelier and the hostess.
Outside lunch was pleasant, noise level reasonable enough for conversation. Seared scallops with green pea puree listed as appetizer but perfect for light lunch capped off with one of the best lattes in town.
Wonderful dinner - all 4 of us loved our meals. The wine was good too. Great service and loved the atmosphere.
Our hostess and greeter named Stephanie was awesome. Our busser and waiter were friendly, courteous and their timing throughout the night was perfect. We were celebrating our Wedding Anniversary and wanted to spend it in the City. Sociale is a neighborhood Italian restaurant that serves Michellin quality food. My wife loved her Halibut and my Wagyu New York Steak was prepared perfectly. Our sides were scrumptious. The Sommelier recommended a Pinot with our deep fried olives and bread, Wow. Our server suggested a Barbaresco with my steak, spot on. Deserts were Chocolate Oblivion Cake, Chocolate Banana Bread Pudding and espresso for two. Every aspect of service was top notch. When service is amazing and the food matches, it makes for a most memorable, filling evening.
Great place, good portions, great service. I will definitely be coming back.
Wonderful dinner in their warm and delightful courtyard.
Wonderful restaurant. Staff are friendly, personable and always professional. they provide great service. Food is consistently delicious. Both patio and inside dining spaces are wonderful. Great restaurant for any occasion!
Nice outdoor setting. Great fresh and well prepared food. Service is excellent.
Great experience—- thank you
We really like Sociale. The food is very good, the atmosphere (in-door and outside) is lovely, the service is attentive but non-pretentious and the prices are reasonable. If we lived within walking distance we would eat there once a week (and we are both pretty good cooks). The house-made pastas are all delicious.
Going to Sociale is amazing
Great food great wine
They make you feel like you are at home while enjoying a terrific meal
They were half an hour late getting our table, after a rather abrupt message that they would only hold our table if we were less than ten minutes late.
They ended up giving us a table that they had been using for supplies. It was a small two-top halfway into their doorway, usually used for waiters and busboys to shortcut between tables. It was both cold and uncomfortable, with my guest being bumped into by every passing waiter.
The was very little variety in their small menu. I had the only fish dish. My guest ordered the waygu beef, at $48, which appeared as a slab of rare (medium rare was requested), fatty, gristly meat; the waiter didn’t even know what kind of meat- that is, what part of the animal did the meat come from. He was so disappointed we had to return it and exchange it for another dish. We finally were able to move out of the doorway. No, the staff didn’t suggest it, but we saw the table open up and just took it. During all this, we had a few unsatisfactory conversations with the manager (we presumed) who was snippy and defensive. We ended up skipping dessert, just to get out of there. Never again!
I grew up with stronger spicing. They rely on natural food flavors, which I actually applaud, and the ingredients they source are splendid, so my "very good" rather than "outstanding" is me nitpicking. But not sure of value. I'm sure like everyone they need to capitalize on the covid reopening but crab appetizer was way too much for too little and bland. But pasta was through the roof (which was open - so romantic), veal and dessert were special, and nice diverse crowd. And nice wine by glass and half bottle list along with prodigious full bottle list.
Still feel comfortable eating outdoors, so, this is the best place--no noise and away from the elements!! Food, service, and atmosphere are great!!
Welcoming and Wonderful.
Sociale is a long-time favorite of mine but my guest had never been before. On hearing that, the server brought us each a slender flute of sparkling wine to welcome her. And the food was, as ways, amazing. Always an incredible experience.
The food was fantastic. We thought the wine prices were high and the night we went had two very noisy tables with women who didn’t realize how loud they were.
There is a small group of us from Saint Ignatius parish that are finally willing to venture out for lunch once per month. The outdoor dining space at Sociale is GREAT since it is WAY back from the street so super quiet. They have heat lamps (which we did not need) so outdoor evening dining would be an option. The food was better than I remembered - we all ate EVERYTHING on our plates!
Our last night before moving out of San Francisco (across the Bay to Oakland!). A really special restaurant with wonderful service, ambience and menu.
Thank you so much. We WILL be back!
