We dined on Valentine’s Day. They replaced the regular menu which is filled with nice small plates, with a more limited choice. That said, my salmon dish was delicious. But my husband had skirt steak— which did not impress.
We will return for the spectacular garden space and look forward to the regular menu.
Great food with great service. Always enjoy having dinner there.
The restaurant was closed upon arrival to our confirmed reservations. It was a let down.
The food was great, the waiter, Stefan was awesome. Love this place!
Love their patio and food! Sitting by the fire on a chilly night was perfect.
Fun and relaxed and love the high top tables for an informal get together.
Excellent food, interesting place, a bit loud near our table.
Everyone working at this restaurant was so kind and helpful, the food was incredible, might I say a little overpriced but it absolutely worth it. I would recommend to anyone with a little extra money and wanting a special dinner.
Great ambiance. Great value for food. Excellent salmon dish.
The food was fantastic! Flavors that I would not make at home. That is what I go out for.
A big bummer for us was the sticky table's. It really takes away from the dinning experience. It is also loud. I highly recommend that they use table cloths. It would fix the sticky table situation and help absorb the noise. I realize it is an added expense to clean them. But probably worth it.
We've been many times and it's always fantastic. Our first place to take friends from out of town. Perfect in every way for any occasion.
Wonderful place. The food melts in your mouth. The service provided from the staff was great. They were caring and attentive. It was a bit noisy, but that just means everyone was having a good time.
And lastly the ambience ties it all together!
Okay, first off, it has the best patio in Santa Barbara. Our waitress was friendly, caring and got the job done. Unfortunately, the food let her down a couple of times. The bruschetta was not very good - the bread wasn't even toasted. My wife's fish came raw. The waitress got her a new one and took it off the bill - very classy. I had the shrimp and mushroom pasta which was excellent. Our lovely waitress brought us their flourless chocolate cake on the house and it was delicious. We will go back and we hope we have the same waitress.
Great food - very slow service. Waitstaff was nice but not on top of things. Seemed like bartenders were a bit overwhelmed - so waiters couldn't bring drinks in a timely manner, including a simple draft beer. Food was excellent especially burrata and plum salad. Outdoor patio is beautiful and warm.
Excellent food, although we ordered too much. It was nice to have for another dinner. Our waiter, Stefan, was terrific.
I was enjoying my meal and lovely service when either the owner or manager decided to sit with his open computer not far from me. Each time I turned my head the coffee shop vibe and bright screen from his computer was a buzz kill. The food was good, though the salad was not well washed. A little more care could make this a go-to spot!
The food was great, ambiance great, but the service was not. Waited a very long time for drinks and there were a few mistakes with the orders..... food and drinks that had to be corrected. Good news is they comped us on one of the mistakes.
I love Smithy Kitchen+Bar! I've never had a bad meal there and the staff is great. The food is innovative and delicious. I hope people will go there and try it out!
Although the food is very tasty, the portion is super small. 3 scallops and risotto for over $23? And no bread first? My boyfriend paid around $28 for Cioppino that was really a bowl of like 6 clams. We had to go across the street after dinner to Benchmark and get him some more food. My glass of wine was $15, which I though was kind of pricey considering i'd never even heard of it before.
Don't get me wrong, i can afford this, but is the value there? I'm not so sure. The only saving grace was our server, she was really nice, very attentive.
Can’t recommend the pizza. Service was eh. Salad and dessert courses were decent but ratios of the components of the dishes were off.
We enjoyed the food and ambiance but the noise level was very high even though there were not many guests at the time there. So a more intimate conversation was not possible which was a pity. We still enjoyed the dinner though. The dishes were all really good and very delicious.
Fantastic spot! We loved sitting out back in the outdoor patio. Very cozy and romantic to be sure. The food was also first rate! Service was exceptional! We’ll be back soon!
It was super cold inside. It also took a long time for drink orders. I cant believe I paid over $20 for pasta bolognese. It was nothing special. My wifes salmon was over cooked with super salty lentils and bland sauce. Dissapointed.
Our server was truly terrible. He left mid meal and never came back amongst other issues. Also the bus boy drank someone’s water after they left - not kidding
Very accomidating restaurant and the food is excellent. The shrimp and mushroom pasta is fabulous.
AMAZING FOOD AND ENVIRONMENT. Highly recommend!
My only complaint is the potion size of my main course. I ordered scallops and only received 2 scallops on my plate. That is an appetizer portion to me. After spending $165 on dinner I would expect at least 4-5 scallops on my plate. This is my 4th visit there and am unsure if I’ll ever return for dinner. The other food was very good and they had excellent cocktails and service.
On NYE we had dinner with friends at Smithy's prior to attending the SB Symphony's fabulous Motown musical performance! We all (4) thoroughly enjoyed our dinners and cocktails. We will definitely be back!!! Shout out to Kira for being such a personable and gracious host :-)
Third time we’ve been here. Always good. And the menu is seasonal and local so it changes, which is a great reason to go back again and again. The outdoor patio is lovely and feels like somewhere in Europe. And you can actually have a conversation without the music or noise level being loud like at some other places. A find!
Wonderful food, out waiter Sefan (Stephan) was awesome. Attentive but not intrusive.
Hard to see the restaurant from street level but the have a great outdoor dining area.
Overall a great 1st time there, would go back in a heartbeat.
The service was terrible especially given that we were the ONLY diners in the entire front room.
What a wonderful dining experience and the flavors were incredible.
Our meal was fantastic! Everything tasted great and we were happy with our table in the corner. Stay consistent with the great food and menu! Loved it!
Delicious food. Great for sharing. Lovely garden. Our favorite place in downtown Santa Barbara.
Arrived Sunday at 4:15 pm and had the run of the house. Chose to sit under the heaters and lighted olive trees on the stunningly beautiful back patio. Kitchen opens at 5, but bar opens at 4. Excellent cocktail, wine and beer menu. Their version of Paloma cocktail is terrific, btw! Burrata, Brussel Sprouts, and corn were all enjoyed by our party of four. Entrees of cioppino, burger, scallops, and bolognese were all PERFECT! Dessert was chocolate cake with port. This restaurant has perfect ambience, perfect food and drinks, and impeccable wait staff. You are not making a mistake by choosing this establishment for a memorable evening meal in Santa Barbara. Thank you everyone at Smithys for a wonderful early evening!
We went for Sunday brunch. It was quiet, other than the lively music playing which we enjoyed. The food was wonderful and satisfying. The menu had a nice variety of options for any palate, and the service was unobtrusive yet attentive. We liked it!
So bummed, we’ve been to this restaurant in the past and it was delicious. This last time, it was just ok. We brought some guests who travel the world and know good food, and they were equally not impressed. Maybe a new chef??
An absolute gem. Stunning service, as well. One of our SB staples.
