Very pretty patio and great service! Loved the flourless chocolate cake dessert. The food we ordered was just okay.
Smithy's is a beautiful restaurant with a patio that has an Italian feel with its gently shaded area within a lovely walled setting. It also has a very welcoming bar and lounge area in the front.
Each time I have visited, the service has been friendly and professional; each of the dishes was fresh and flavorful. I have had their salads, their flatbreads, their pastas, and even their griddle cakes at brunch, and all were excellent. It's in a perfect location near the art museum, the Granada theater and the library, along with some of the nicest downtown shopping.
It is a perfect spot for a pre-event dinner, lunch or drink and appetizer.
I look forward to my next visit, and I hope you'll be there too.
Such a beautiful new restaurant- overall design of the interiors and the courtyard are stunning. Attentive service, great mucis and excellent food! Will be back!
Staff was snarky. Portions were small, as advertised, but way overvalued. Wine pour, for $15, was about 2 ounces. Overall, the food was not worth the price and it was WAY too hip, gotta go.
Every server we’ve had has acted annoyed when we ask questions about drinks or the menu, or they aren’t very attentive. Food is great though and love sitting out on the patio.
We had requested outside seating and were thrilled that our request was honored as it is a beautiful setting.
We had a variety of dishes - appreciated that our server gave us very good recommendations - like the corn dish and scallops. He also matched our myriad of food choices with a great wine recommendation - not an easy task. We highly recommend this restaurant. We have been a few times now and food, service, atmosphere have been consistently excellent!
The patio is a perfect spot for casual dining. Loved the food and the service and will definitely go back. They added a new drink which was a tequila sangria ; quite tasty!
Excellent food. Atmosphere on the back patio was superbly romantic.
Drank at the bar and then ate at the back patio. Ambiance was totally amazing and not too loud which allowed a good conversation for a big group. Food was good and big enough menu to fit everyone's dietary needs. Food itself was delicious and had a delicious spicy cocktail.
Food was good. Service was very good. Pretty atmosphere. Loud music from next door. Didn’t get too excited about the menu.
Second visit in July and really love it there as did my 23 year old daughter who was there for first time! Great food, service, vibe!
We love this restaurant, and usually go on a weekend night. We took our family this time to celebrate our daughters birthday, and left disappointed. The food was good, but our daughter’s plate was dirty and needed to be replaced. We didn’t get our cocktails until 3 plates into our meal, and the waitress said she’d bring a glass for my husbands beer, but after 10-15 minutes passed, he went to get one at the bar, and she showed up and acted rude. Not the service or atmosphere we expected especially on a quiet night.
One of the best meals I’ve had in the area. Came highly recommended by The Kimpton Hotel and with good reason. Enjoyed from start to finish and look forward to returning next month. Beautiful outdoor space and ambiance.
What a fantastic place! We loved the menu and healthy varieties. Great ambience as well
We loved Sommerset and are delighted that the team has created Smithy. Innovative small plates that are quite huge! The prices are quite reasonable for such delicious food. We had the avocado bruschetta with pistachios, the Korean fried chicken and scallops with risotto. The servers are friendly, efficient and enthusiastic.
Wonderful dinner in back patio. Delightful jazz band played during dinner.
Been here a few times, only gripe this time if that my favorite dish, the Korean crispy chicken, contained hardly any actual chicken. You used to get nice crispy chicken goujons in a light crispy batter with Korean bbq sauce, last night we got over cooked batter only several of the pieces had any actual chicken in. Hope they sort. Ordered the bruschetta but did not really have much flavor very bland mix of ricotta cheese with raisins and pistachios. Nice ambiance as usual but food quality and taste may be slipping a bit!
I had an excellent meal at Smithy Kitchen + Bar. I sat in the garden - which was lovely. My waiit person recommended the burrata & apricot salad. It was huge and delicious with a very lemon-y dressing. She also recommended the scallops and risotto which I also ordered. It only had two scallops but a generous portion of risotto and a generous helping of peas and asparagus.
Great dinner spontaneously after browsing the book den next door
The space is absolutely beautiful, the food was good, and the service was fair (bordering on poor). Our waiter seemed either distracted or uninterested in serving us. I was truly disappointed.
The best farm to table dining in Santa Barbara in an warm, inviting atmosphere and terrific service!
Lovely court yard area to sit in. Food was fantastic, try the bruschetta!
Beautiful courtyard for outside dining. From Tokyo to Mars cocktail was excellent! Food was tasty although portions were skimpy in relation to the price. I will definitely return!
Excellent service at both the bar and table (shout out to Marcos and Michael!). Food was amazing. Can’t wait to return.
Nice outside patio and food was tasty. Great wine and beer selection but overpriced. Protein portion in dishes should be larger. Need to get rid of the mirrors outside and put in some art.
W had high hopes Despite reservation we waited. It took 18 minutes for our drink order. They lost their chef and it shows. The salad was inedible drenched with sour lemon to the point of overkill. The food was clumsy and very disappointing. The music was off and seemd to be no supervision and cohesion. The waitress tried and the Somm was good, but all in all it was a solid miss. We wont return.
Outside on the patio below the olive trees is a definite bonus.
We enjoyed our dinner very much. Excellent service. It was our second time there.
The food was good
Terrific food, terrific service, terrific setting. Will definitely go back.
So great! Food was wonderful and staff was impressive! Made our anniversary special.
We went for Father’s day brunch. The restaurant wasn’t fully booked but somehow it took about 65 minutes to get our food. When we finally got our food, it was not all at once and left two out six people waiting 10 more minutes for their order. One of the orders was a sandwich with French fries, somehow they had run out of sour dough and it was served with burger bread and the worse home fries ever as they had also run out of fries. The waitress was apologetic but a little too late. Hard to wait over an hour for lunch with three children ages 10-5 years old.
Sadly, a very poor experience. We'd made reservations for 7 for a graduation lunch, yet despite the reservation and a nearly empty restaurant got seated at an elevated table with stools rather than an actual table with chairs. The restaurant was serving a limited menu for brunch, yet was still out of several items (including french fries). Our food wasn't served for over an hour, and once it arrived several items were simply inedible - potatoes fried to charcoal and a steak that was charred on the outside and raw on the inside and tasted of fuel. A plate of three dry pancakes and a dozen blueberries didn't seem to warrant its $18 price. Our poor server was so apologetic over the wait and the selections issues so we just didn't have the heart to tell her that the food was quite poor. And this was meant to be a celebration - I'm afraid it didn't feel that way at all.
Small plates were welcome! A little noisy when we arrived because of the theater crowd which diminished quickly! Excellent food indoor dining and outdoor too.
After showing up on time for our reservation, we were offered to get a drink or two at the bar because it would be a 20 minute wait.
Why take reservations?
Wouldn't give any stars if that were an option.
Few misfires in the food, gritty bread crumbs ruining texture of arugula salad, which needed more grilled peaches and a nice piece of grilled bread alongside. Scallops and sweet pea risotto definite hit; grilled shrimp and beans overwhelmed by chimichurri
We picked Smithy’s for our daughter’s graduation from college. Grace who helped me with planning our event was excellent. The restaurant and patio are gorgeous, the food delicious and interesting, and our server was great.
Five stars all the way!
Been there twice now. Food is very good. Service leaves a lot to be desired. And it’s impossible to carry on a conversation.
Everything was stellar, from the beautiful courtyard setting to the attentive service and the delicious food. We shared dishes across the menu and nothing disappointed.
