"In 1853 in Smith Flat, over the top of the Deep Blue Channel, the Three Mile House was built. Named for its distance from central Placerville on the trail to Carson City, today it is known as the Smith Flat House. It originally consisted of a general store, post office, bedroom, dining room and dance floor. Over the next century and a half the Smith Flat House served many purposes; operating as a wagon stop during the bonanza days of the Comstock mines, as well as a hotel and restaurant, run by the Fossati family, for decades. The Smith Flat House has long been a part of the history of El Dorado County, changing with the times, always enduring and providing a wonderful gathering space for the people. Today, we strive to continue this tradition as an inviting destination for excellent food, events and activities that nourish our community and those who visit our region."

                    Good for when you want to be spoiled. Personally I’d prefer softer music as opposed to loud music. Super hot this time as well.

                    I came here on my birthday and unfortunately had a waitress who just seemed like she hated her life. My friend's order was wrong and he requested to have the correct order made. She looked at my friend with disgust and annoyance. The rest of the evening we were barely attended too. I was very disappointed as this was ALWAYS my favorite place. The manager expressed his sympathies and said he would take care of my meal the next time I came in - just make the reservation and tell them the manager said to book it. So, the next reservation I made, I did just that. They took our 8pm reservation but somehow were closing their restaurant down at 8:15. My boyfriend and I start to feel uncomfortable with everyone cleaning up. We asked if we should come back another time, but they said no. The same waitress from my birthday happened to be our waitress again, but I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt. This time was not much better. She did not attend to us once after our food arrived - our drinks were empty for the duration of our meal and my dish was missing items but there was no one around I could tell. The waitress and one of the busboys were playing music off their phones and dancing around the restaurant. I don't care if you enjoy yourself when closing, but we were ignored. We felt extremely rushed throughout the night. When they brought the check, the full amount was listed. I explained about the manager saying he would take care of my meal. The manager said yes he remembered and changed the price. I stepped away to use the restroom and my boyfriend heard the manager and the waitress talking (not hard when we are the only ones there) - they started accusing us of trying to dine and dash, said we probably won't tip because we asked for the discount, laughed about us being too poor to eat here anyways. I was beyond hurt and disappointed. What was once my favorite place became a disgusting excuse for a restaurant. We paid, TIPPED, and left. Will NEVER return.

                    This is our third visit and first time dining outside in their back yard. Live music was entertaining, I had the Smith Flat House pizza, thin crust, fresh veggies and a great taste. My wife had the Jambalaya Risotto and she said it had a little spice and the portions were large. Our server Maria was fantastic. We’d go again, its one of our favorite dining places.

                    Smith Flat House once again knocked it out of the park! Two of us had the Black & White, Filet & Prawns and the other had Smoked Alaskan Salmon over pasta special. The filets were done perfection with tremendous flavor, the prawns were wonderful with a béarnaise sauce. The salmon was delicious as was the pasta. We topped it off with a double chocolate chip cookie mounded with ice cream, crème brulee all to die for! We dined downstairs which was packed, unfortunately it was so loud we could barely hear each other. We are looking forward to the patio opening when the weather is better. I do miss more local wines on the drink menu. I highly recommend you dine here.

                    Party of 10 …. Everybody loved the food. The service was great and the mine shaft room created a really cool atmosphere.

                    Our group of 6 enjoyed outdoor dining and various entrees; hamburger, pasta, salads, soup and pasta with mussels. All were delicious. Great atmosphere and great music that still allowed conversation.

                    We had a lovely Easter Brunch yesterday. It couldn't have been more perfect. The buffet was filled with endless choices starting with fresh fruit and salads, sausage and bacon, fancy potatoes, all kinds of eggs made to order, prime rib and yummy desserts. Beverage selection of different juices, coffee, cocktails and champagne with live music entertainment. Serving staff was friendly and accommodating to our every need. We know a lot of work went into making it such a wonderful event for so many families. The Smith Flat House is the best!!

                    We had a small celebration dinner in honor of our daughter getting engaged, the service and food was great. Our server was familiar with the menu, took note of one food allergy and was very attentive(without being intrusive).

                    Didn’t realize we had to sit outside while making our reservations. Had to ask repeatedly for bbq which was ordered with our food. Lettuce on burgers was wilted. Bread was amazing. Had to wait a really time for appetizers.

                    Brunch is a must! Beautiful & comfortable seating offering sun & shade. The Waffle Benedict was fabulous. The overall brunch menu had something for everyone and it’s nice that the beverage menu covered coffee to flavorful mimosas! Our server was friendly, attentive and we never felt rushed. Thank you Smith Flat House!!
