Sky Bistro, Mountain Top Dining @ Banff Gondola

This was the first time we have eaten at Sky Bistro. We ordered a specialty cocktail, two starters, 2 mains, and 2 desserts. The amount of vegetarian options was impressive, and it was clear that much thought went into each dish. Food came out as expected and timed perfectly, there was no rush and we were able to enjoy every bite. The service was top notch (our server was Eric, and he was on point). We were thoroughly impressed from start to finish.
In every category Sky Bistro scored top marks and I would love to go again the next time we are in Banff.

Such a beautiful restaurant! The food was incredible and our waitress Sophia was very nice and recommended us some of her favourites on the menu. Definitely worth the money and the experience!

We ordered an abundance of different items over three courses from the menu and it was lacklustre and disappointing. Steak Tartar wasn't seasoned well and the bread served with it was burnt and the duck was overdone and dry. The Gnocchi was under cooked and tasted like flour, the pork chop was served cut but had fragments of bone and gristle to navigate in the slices, the deserts were served ice cold to the point that we had to eat the chocolate torte with our hands, the spoon couldn't get through it! The service was slow, they didn't clear the table as we were progressing through our courses, they served us desert and then received spoons 5 minutes later, AND they forgot a drink order for the table all together. Trying to signal the staff with eye contact and a small waive was impossible. The ambience is a win, but if you're expecting a finer dining experience, overall I would give it a hard pass.

Dinner with friends was an amazing experience with Maria as our server. Beautiful restaurant with breathtaking views. Food was impressive and delicious. I will make an effort to come here again for any special occasion.

We loved the experience however we were disappointed with the amount of food we received for the amount we paid.

We had an amazing dinner last night at Sky Bistro. Food was fantastic, would highly recommend the duck wings for an appetizer and the pork & gnocchi entrees. Our server Robert made our dining experience perfect!

I absolutely loved the views and really enjoyed being surrounded by the mountains/beautiful scenery; however, It was not the level of service we expected at all. My expectations aren’t through the roof, but you would expect the service at a place like this to be a little better than our experience, which included:

The service was very slow, our dirty plates stayed on our table the entire time we were there, my food wasn’t rang in and so I ate after my hubby and daughter, our first order of drinks arrived after the food did, we asked for items that were never brought, etc. It was just a little chaotic. Other staff and servers could have easily grabbed plates and helped our server out, but instead they just kept walking by empty handed and left our table a mess. If they worked together, then customers wouldn’t experience the disorganized service. Our server was very nice, he probably just needed some help as he was busy. Not the end of the world, just a little disappointing as we were really looking forward to this dinner and travelled to Banff specifically to try it out.

We came here for our honeymoon dinner and were blown away by the experience! Everyone was so lovely and even went out of their way to celebrate our honeymoon with us. We came for the view, but the food was also incredible! The duck wings were recommended to us as an appetizer and they did not disappoint. I had the chicken entree and my husband has the short ribs. We both absolutely loved our dishes. I highly recommend going here!

You just can’t beat the excellent food and the stunning mountain backdrop.

The staff from down at the bottom of the gondola all the way up the mountain to our server went above and beyond. My partner has severe allergies and they are hyper aware at every stage and go above and beyond to make sure we were able to enjoy our meal safely. Would highly recommend more than once as their menu changes seasonally. The views were spectacular and if you are there around 6/630 for dinner service, it dies down pretty quickly which is a bonus.

The views are as expected at 2,200 metres up. Simply stunning but to be able to eat there is just simply fantastic. I highly recommend this experience as the Sky Bistro food was superb. The starters, Caesar salad abs duck wings were truly tasty and a lovely way to begin the experience. The beer and cocktails were lovely too. The mains, salmon and my wife had the pork were wonderful. Highly recommend this restaurant I’d do it without hesitation next time.

Best meal I had on my entire trip to Banff. The short ribs and their accompaniments were delicious. The service was very understanding and top-notch. The only things that I would ask for is that the table requests would be honoured by sitting closer to the mountain view near the windows and lowering the blinds for the sun.

Worth the view and the ambiance - next time I would go for lunch and not dinner.

In our honest opinion for the amount of money we spend for the portion size we got was totally a rip off and food was salty we left un impressed and went to a local resturant to finish off our hunger

Incredible view. The beef was a large portion while gnocchi was small.

My mom and I decided to have a nice dinner here after spending the day hiking, and this place DID NOT disappoint! I had the beef short rib and my mom had the salmon. We both enjoyed our meals as the food was juicy, tender, well seasoned and very enjoyable. Our waiter was amazing and very friendly and the service was great! Not to mention the fact that the view of the mountains is spectacular! Highly recommend coming here on your next trip to Banff!

The cleaners used the same towel to wipe the food off of the tables in front of me on the floor then proceeded to wipe the seats, leaving a oil residue for the next guest possibly permanently ruin their attire. Multiple occasions. Main waiter only attended twice, the initial greeting and a follow up if the appetizer was ok. I had my napkin taken from me without a replacement. Had to finish the other 2 course meal without a napkin. Once finished the last meal, waited nearly 15 minutes until my patience was lost and I asked another waiter if the can get me the bill. Left a generous tip regardless of the downside of the service. Food was top notch, will come back for the food alone.

Incredible atmosphere, view, music, service. The food was some of the best I've ever had. Definetely a must while in Banff.

We booked this place as it was referred to us by a local blog writer. The Gondola ride to the restaurant was very expensive at $59 per person but once we arrived we found the view stunning and the seats and fire pits on the roof were a nice touch. We were the first to enter the restaurant when they opened at 4:00 and were allowed to choose our seat and were seated next to the window. The waiter was very nice and even offered to take our picture for us. We orders the bread basket with butter as an appetizer for $7 and it was amazing. I ordered the Salmon and my wife ordered the chicken. Both our plates were appealing to the eyes and very delicious. I believe the ticket was $75 which isn’t bad for an upscale restaurant. I would eat here again.

Amazing experience, must try when visiting Banff

We had the bread appetizer and the pork and chicken meals and they were all very delicious! Such good flavour in all parts of the meal. We also had the peach and s’mores desserts and they were delicious. Our server Cory was friendly, gave good information and the food and was prompt with checking in.

My only disappointment was noting that it was our honeymoon on the reservation and there was no mention made of it when we arrived.

Service from Courtney was brilliant, very attentive but not over the top. Friendly and knowledgable and managed to get us to a window seat. Gondola staff were also super nice. I was a little underwhelmed with the food, it was good but for the price I would’ve expected better. I had what looked like 1 and a half scallops for starter and my carrots and potato on the beef main were a little on the hard side. Again, it was tasty but I felt the quality and value didn’t quite match. Red wine was served at perfect temperature though!

Great experience for our group celebrating a 50th wedding anniversary. The food was amazing, flavourful and delicious, and our server was knowledgeable and very friendly. Thank you for making a memorable evening

The food is actually very good. Unlike other tourism location. This restaurant food and drinks is unexpectedly good

The food and drinks were absolutely amazing. 5 stars on taste and presentation. The portions were just the right amount. Overall it was the best dining experience I have ever had. I will definitely be coming back. Our server Maria was very good and made sure to accommodate those in our party with food allergies.

It was absolutely amazing. Breathtaking views with wonderful food to complement it. We will be back.
