Six is a new panoramic restaurant at The Varsity Hotel & Spa on the sixth floor below the iconic roof garden. The 120 cover restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, dinner as well as weekend brunch. Floor to ceiling windows and two terraces will provide diners with a stunning panorama of Cambridge’s famous architecture, from St John’s College spires to Midsummer Common and the sight of punts cruising the scenic River Cam. Most colleges can be seen and as evening falls, the restaurant will become the most romantic spot in the city. Its relaxed menu features handmade Wood-fired Pizza, Free Range Spit Roasted Rotisserie Chicken, classic steaks from the grill, and wood stone oven favourites including Crispy Pork Belly and Roast Cod. For grazers, there is a great menu of smaller plates from Burrata & Brushetta to Grilled Spicy Chorizo. The brunch menu features classics like Eggs Royale and Maple Syrup & Bacon as well as Turkish Eggs and full Aussie breakfast for something a bit different.

Great location, food, drink and atmosphere. We always have a good time here and would thoroughly recommend Six. We did recommend it - our last visit we brought five friends with us who all raved about it too. Thanks for living up to the recommendation we gave them.

We were staying in the Varsity Hotel so thought we should dine in on one night. Views were amazing - good food, although portions were too big! The downside was the slow service - we waited 45 minutes for our starter and, as you can see the chefs at work, it was easy to notice other later orders being prepared before ours. To his credit, the manager Valter, accepted our feedback and apologised. This was a more informal and canteen style than I was expecting. The temptation to book here rather than the ground floor steak restaurant, was the views. However I felt it to be too informal for a hotel of that quality.

My complaint concerns my booking. I booked weeks in advance so we could enjoy the views from the roof top restaurant. I used the Open Table facility and booked on line. I received confirmation by E mail. The day before I received another E mail. I took these with me, thank goodness. On arrival we were greeted and told we were not on the bookings list. We were told to go up and again told the same thing. As I had written confirmation we were allowed to eat but instead of a window table we were shoved in the middle of the room. All the window tables were empty as it was only 6pm. We had travelled a distance by train for my friends 50th birthday so imagine my embarrassment when this incident occurred. Food was however lovely.

I took my enjoyable other out for a romantic date and we had a lovely time with lovely food and great, attentive service. The views were incredible, in spite of the rain, and added a special something to our experience.

I was really looking forward to the experience of six. It was for my 40th birthday celebrations. It started really well the bar staff were extremely friendly & I was given a feee drink as it was my birthday. However it went down hill from there. We waited 20 minutes for our table even though we was told we had to be of by a certain time & the service was extremely slow. This therefore made for a disappointed overall experience.

Came here last weekend as part of my friends hen get together. We visited in the evening and had food in the restaurant which was really lovely, followed by cocktails on the roof terrace during the sunset. Lovely atmosphere and I'd definitely recommend a visit here!
