Sir Winston Wine Loft & Restaurant
Utilizing a farm-to-table philosophy, we offer exquisitely prepared local food in a world-class setting for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
I was a bit disappointed in the atmosphere ... thought it was not a relaxing atmosphere- music was loud and seemed unfitting for a wine bar /restaurant. The food was not as good as we hoped. The staff was friendly and attentive- just not a restaurant that stands out as a place to frequent.
This was a great place to go out for a special dinner during a pandemic. There was no one else in our section of the restaurant and service was great!
We went for Sunday brunch. The music was way to loud, could not even have a conversation. Hostess sat us on the other side of this wall . She took our drink order brought out our cappuccino in a Starbucks paper cup. We ordered our meal and an hour later still had not gotten our food! Finally went up and just ask to pay for our drinks, so we could leave! Only good thing was they paid for our drinks! Not sure we will go back!
Waited 45 minutes for an appetizer. They told us it was due to a 20 person party that came in before us, but that shouldn’t preclude us from being served in a timely manner. If so, they should have informed us prior to seating us. Extremely bad planning on their part.
We also ordered apple/pear cobbler for desert and the pear (or apples... we couldn’t tell as they were indistinguishable of fruit of any kind) skins were black and the fruit was gray. It was extremely off putting.
Unfortunately, I have to agree with several reviewers about the service. We too had to ask for napkins and silverware. And it took a while just to be acknowledged. Just about everything took a while. On the plus side, the food was wonderful! I had the Smoked Salmon Avocado toast and my friend had the Italian Farro Breakfast. And we both had the Corn and Clam Chowder. The presentation and the flavors were excellent. Very generous portions and not your typical breakfast offerings. I also had the "loaded" Bloody Mary, which was loaded with a large shrimp, two slices of bacon, a skewer of spiced okra, large olive and a Gibson onion plus the usual celery stalk. Yummy. We'll probably go back some time later, but I hope they figure out their service problems or there won't be a third time for us.
We were there to celebrate a birthday. The staff was very friendly & the food was
fabulous. I highly recommend Sir Winston.
Great feel to the restaurant. With wine in the name I was hoping for a bit more of a wine list. I got a Salmon and Risotto special. The salmon was phenomenal but the risotto was bland. Scallop appetizer was a great fusion of flavors.
Good experience. Had the NYE menu and the service was great. As expected with preset menus the food came out rather quickly then hoped for, but it was good. The steak was a tad chewy for a ribeye, but the salmon was amazing. Good value for the menu. Will return to try the usual menu
Zach was awesome! He had our salmon cooked to perfection! And, he offered to take our picture.
Have been there twice for brunch- food & service both were excellent-- music on Sundays very nice touch!
Good experience and food, nice atmosphere and ambience.
Delicious brunch & great cocktails!
Please update your menu online with seasonal selections. I understand Covid is increasing difficulty with keeping certain items in stock, but given the Impossible Burger was not available, a few of my plant-based friends were limited with options.
My wife and I went there for dinner for the first time. The food was okay, the service was okay. We probably won’t go back, but it was nice to try a new place for dinner.
Server was excellent. The drink menu had interesting choices. Cheerwine ribs were incredible - very little fat.
Went there for Sunday brunch. My husband ordered the Bloody Mary and I ordered the Summertime-a gin/ Prosecco cocktail-both were great. For brunch we both ordered the brisket Benedict. Very tasty, brisket was ample. As much as we both really enjoyed our selection, it would’ve been good to see another Benedict option with flank steak perhaps...just in case you weren’t in the mood for smoked brisket. The pimento grits, we shared as they were ordered separately. They were delicious. Nice leisure lunch. I’d come back.
Was OK
Half the group finished their meals before everyone was served. That is not a very good way to execute
Staff was very nice!
One food item had to be sent back, as it was not well cooked. Got a replacement very quickly
A little “cold” feeling in the room. Very little ambience. Not much character in the room. No idea how to address that
Very nice place and food was outstanding. Would prefer a little more intimate dining area but would come back now that I know what to expect.
We made a reservation for our dinner date at 7:30 & were sat at the bar. Beautiful space but the music is so loud we felt we were at a club not a bar/restaurant. The music made it difficult to have a conversation. A large party was upstairs and it seemed that the music was catered towards them rather than serving the entire restaurant. We ordered drinks and placed our order by 8pm. We finally had to ask the bartender at 8:30 where our food was and it still took another 7 minutes for it to arrive which we turned down as we had waited long enough and felt that no one was concerned with making it right. I spoke to both the maitre d and the GM who neither could explain a 30min cook time for our food when the majority of the restaurant was drinking and not ordering food. It was incredibly disappointing and frustrating.
It seems that the restaurant is having an identity crisis. They decor and atmosphere sets the tone for a 1960’s lounge yet the club music takes away from that. It has the potential to be unique spot in Winston but it falls under the category of just another loud restaurant with poor service.
Music was louder which I actually quite enjoy. Often times with a more lively atmosphere, the service suffers. Happy to report this was not the case. The food was all unique but actually really good quality and delicious.
Jordan was awesome! The cauliflower appetizer disappeared in 2 minutes! Diego was so kind to open all of our doors to culminate the valet experience. Let’s do this again soon!
Ridiculously loud DJ - couldn’t converse
Overworked waitress - doing her best
Lame wine list, especially for a “wine loft”
Very disappointing
Friendly staff. Food was good .
We have been twice in the last week, and we would like to go again this weekend!
My family was visiting from out of town, and I wanted to take them some place new. We all loved it! This was the first place to ever take my temperature during COVID (at least in NC). Service was a little slow, and it took awhile for the food to come out, but it was with the wait!
Delicious dinner- we will be back for more drinks!
Great service! The food was pricey but very good!
Very nice place. A little pricey, but the the quality and level of food was well worth it. The waiter that we had went above and beyond with service and explaining everything. Can not wait to go back.
We loved the outdoor dining experience as a part of Winston-Salem’s downtown ‘Streatery’ initiative during COVID. The service was excellent and the menu had something for everyone in the party. Be sure to take in one of the specialty cocktails!
great atmosphere. creative chef with awesome dishes. highly recommend the brussel sprout tacos and moravian mule
Good food, great drinks, top notch service. Our server was phenomenal with knowledge of food and drink. Perfect price point, and great outdoor dining.
Even with a limited menu, the food was outstanding. Steak done perfectly, shrimp and grits not too spicy. Our server, Chris, was attentive but not overbearing. We had a wonderful and will be back again most definitely!
We were the only ones there on a Sunday morning. We sat outside. They were still making the menu when we got there at opening; it looked to be the exact same as any Sunday menu I found online, so not sure what that was about. The service was slow as expected, but not excruciatingly so. We order two of the done up bloody marrys, a coffee with cream, the savory grits, and the French toast - all devine. Came out to ~$70. It's a cool place although a tad expensive. We'd go back for a fancy date night or special occasion.
Love the food! Nice atmosphere
It was Father’s Day brunch, and every aspect was great. We had eaten there previously, and it was awesome again!!
The food was great, but I paid $32 for a steak meal that came on plastic plates and had to use plastic silverware. I am aware of phase 2 roll outs that include dining in but a heads up would have been nice on the website. Also asking guest to have their temperature taken and wear a mask to the bathroom upon arrival was just overwhelming if not made aware beforehand.
They did a great job, given the restrictions. And the food was really good! The steak tips with mushrooms and onions were our fave, and the brussels sprouts were the best we've ever had!
Messed up drink and dinner orders. Slow to bring drinks to the table.
Try waiting 2 hours for your dinner when the restaurant isn’t full at all. Never seen anything like it. We walked out before our food came because 2 hours is beyond exhausting.
Very comfortable seating with really interesting tables! Service was good but the best thing about this restaurant is the food! Just really good food ! Chef 👨🍳 is from DC area and is really good with tasty meals! Try it you will like it
