Sir Winston Wine Loft & Restaurant
Utilizing a farm-to-table philosophy, we offer exquisitely prepared local food in a world-class setting for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Music was entirely too loud. We were seated far away on a Sunday afternoon and had to yell to each other to be understood. Much too loud for a brunch crowd. Service was very slow but due to the current circumstances that can be understood. The server was very friendly and I noticed the host and hostess helping get food out. I would like to go back but I will check and see what the music situation is first. It was our first visit.
Coffee was cold. Meal was good except for an undercooked egg and a hair found in our food. Per usual right now, everything was slow. However, management made everything right even though we didn’t complain.
The waiter was fantastic, but the kitchen does bot know the difference in a strawberry rhubarb cobbler abs a blackberry cobbler. A, one is red to pink in color; the other is very dark almost black. B. The date is sweeter with a slight tang ( the rhubarb) and the other is more of a subtle flavor. The kitchen continues to argue the cobble was just rhubarb when we returned the dessert. Some education on what is and isn’t a fruit might help keep your staff on top of what they are cooking and serving!!
Outstanding. Food was great. Service was great. Prices were fair. We will go back soon.
Went with our adult children and parents for my 53rd birthday dinner because no one else is open on Monday night on downtown. Thank you for that! However, our meal took 1 hour and 25 minutes to be served, and when served, all seven plates came out except mine. When mine came our, it was wrong. They didn’t just bring me the vegetables I asked for on a side plate, they took my plate to remove potatoes, brought it back, still without extra veggies. When I asked, they brought 2.5 strands of asparagus. Everyone else was long finished with their food. That said, my steak was good and our family said their food was good. Three stars for the food overall. Was definitely not the best experience.
We’ll never go back again
Hip, energetic atmosphere, excellent food, and truly special service from Amanda. If you're in Winston-Salem, you gotta try this place!
Highly recommend the espresso martini! Everything was delicious and as always it was a great dining experience.
Server was verygood. Drinks excellent
A unique experience in a spacious dining area. I hope the plain decor was not because of the pandemic, but we expected more.
We were a party of 8. The pre fixe menu was a bit pricey for the items served. I was excited to see the Roast Leg of Lamb. Two in the party ordered this entree. Unfortunately the meat was room temperature. The presentation was very nice and the temperature of the accompaniments was very good (hot food hot, cold food cold). The remaining 6 party members all gave very good comments on their selections.
The raspberry Tiramisu was a disappointing as the lady fingers were hard and the flavor was very very very sweet.
I went for Mother's Day and it was a set price for each of us to eat. The price was reasonable for a three coarse meal. The food was excellent and I will eat there again. I like the valet service as well, which was free.
We went for Mother’s Day. We were not told that it was a Prix Fixe menu. We stayed but it was not what we planned on. We looked at the website and it said nothing about the special menu. It just had their regular menus listed. The food was excellent and good choices of wine.
This was our first time trying this restaurant and it did not disappoint. This was the only place that had a reservation available and we went there and enjoy Mother’s Day. Food was incredible, different from the normal menu but spot on. If you’re looking for a place to dine with great atmosphere and drinks this is it.
Loved the location, great atmosphere, good variety of wine.
First time eating at Sir Winston. Loved the food. I had several small plates, all great portions. I did order mini plate/ half salad, which for the price was over priced for what I received, but it was a very good salad. Husband and son ordered wings, chorizo dip and both had shrimp and grits - again they loved what they ordered; cleaned their plates! Service was friendly and quick. I’m GF and they were accommodating with my restrictions. Would like to see more GF options in the menu.
Hate we waited so long to eat there and will definitely be back.
The Wine Loft offers interesting dishes at fair prices. I would eat hear again for a casual meal, but go elsewhere for a more formal experience.
The menu was a nice surprise. We loved every lunch dish we ordered.
Will visit again
Definitely a top choice for brunch!! They had live entertainment and service was spot on!!
Great food and atmosphere
Great place for food and drinks
The kitchen was out of several offerings. The noise was so bad we finally gave up talking except to the person next to us. The service was excellent. The focus we were able to order was so-so.
Birthday. Amanda was a great waitress! Jordan stopped by our table to say hi.:)
Resurrection Day! Jordan was so nice! She was very apologetic when she had to tell us that they were out of a couple of items from the Easter Brunch Menu.
We had reservations at 1:45pm for a party of seven for Easter Sunday Brunch. Zach, our server was very pleasant. However, he had to come by our table at least 3 different times to inform us that some of our selections for Brunch and dessert were no longer available. I certainly don't attribute that to him, and in fact, I sensed that he was sincerely sorry for having to share that news with us. The menu indicated we could each choose from one appetizer, 2 sides and one entree, in addition to dessert. I understand they may have been overwhelmed and that some dishes might have been extremely popular to the point that they ran out. However, to have to come to our table 3 different times to inform us that they'd run out of an item was a bit frustrating. On top of that, we waited a full hour after being seated (on time) prior to receiving our appetizers. After each of us had finished our appetizers and the plates cleared, we waited another 1/2 hour for our entree & sides. Food was good, and portion sizes (especially dessert) were large. This was our first time at Sir Winston, but I don't know that we would return at $46/person for Easter Brunch, considering the lack of availability of several items after we placed our order, and the extended wait time between courses. It may have been simpler and more efficient to have been told what was available upon placing our initial order, rather than have spent so much time having to change selections after the fact.
We did Easter brunch. The ham was notable as were the varied selections on the menu. Good service. Only issue that will be prohibitive for me is the acoustics. Solid floors with no rugs and an open two-story
environment with nothing to absorb the sound makes for a loud experience. Maybe the young folks like it that way!
Great place for food and drinks
While we typically love this spot for drinks/people watching, I believe the price point for food is a bit high.
everyone was awesome.food was great.pricey but spend it if ya got it.
The service and food were excellent
Very accommodating with our requests and a last minute time change
Unfortunately after our 3rd visit we will no longer return for future events. Service was subpar for the 3rd time in a row. The bacon and pimento cheese omelet, we had 2 guests order it, was cold inside because they didn't heat the contents before putting inside the omelet. Service was disappointing for the 3rd time. Apparently they rotate tables between servers instead of the server having a section of tables.... so service was inattentive every visit.
Very loud restaurant. Took 25 mins to get our drinks, apps came 40 mins after we ordered them (they were cold) when we asked the waitress for our check she rolled her eyes and said “you don’t want to order normal food” we then had to flag down a different waitress. We went across the street to the oyster bar and had a fantastic dinner with great service.
We arrived 5 minutes before our 8:15 reservation after parking and walking to the restaurant and the hostess told us that it would be at least a 45 minute wait. We left. What is the point of using Open Table to make reservations only to find out that the restaurant does not honor them. Open table had that there were openings at 8:15 and 8:30 and 8:45. Apparently not correct.
Disappointed in service and food especially since the cost is quite high. Time to get food was extra long considering there were four tables, Luke warm temps of food, and servers lack of attention to clearing plates and just overall customer service. Very disappointing and we all have worked in the restaurant business.
This was our first time here and it was for date night. Why haven't we been here more!! It was delicious. Our waiter was great and on top of everything. We ordered their smoke bourbon old fashions which wasn't on the limited menu listed but was on the website. The bartender was awesome enough to make them and so glad he did. We had the octopus appetizer, shrimp and grits for me. My husband had the burger with bacon/chow-chow, pimento and berry salad. For dessert we had the berry tres-leches cake. Everything was superb and made for a great date night.
The staff was friendly and nice, but the restaurant was out of a beer and menu item we ordered. The waitress didn’t write down our order and when she brought our food she didn’t have my whole order and said she didn’t hear my whole order. She kindly offered to put in the rest but I said it was okay. My wife’s shrimp and greats were great. My steak was cooked great but under seasoned. The strawberry cobbler was very good. Over all the experience was okay. The price was also very acceptable.
We came back in last night sat at the bar for 15 minutes before we were greeted or given menus the bartender Chris forgot to put our entrees in so no dinner for us. Only appetizers! But he remembered our dessert makes an excuse saying he had covid two weeks ago and that’s why he forgot to put our entrees in! Ridiculous! Bad service. Disappointed! Why tell guest that are eating at your restaurant that you had COVID?? How do you forget to put in guests entrees?? So we left hungry
I was a bit disappointed in the atmosphere ... thought it was not a relaxing atmosphere- music was loud and seemed unfitting for a wine bar /restaurant. The food was not as good as we hoped. The staff was friendly and attentive- just not a restaurant that stands out as a place to frequent.
