Unlike other south-east asian cuisines, Vietnamese food has influences from France. Given this influence, cooking is definitely a culmination of East meets West where meals are prepared and cooked for hours rather than flash fried.
With fresh herbs, meats and vegetables, Simply Pasteur goes one step further than other Vietnamese restaurants by crafting our plates to be for a modern-american palette. That is, our cuisine is not only designed to be elegant, but also to be flavorful and to take experience into account.
Come relax and enjoy an elegant pairing of Vietnamese pho, noodles, rice dishes and more with our in-house cocktails, wines and full bar.

I love Simply Pasteur! The outdoor patio is very cute and socially-distanced very well. The seafood wraps and pho were outstanding! Excellent drink selection as well. I can’t wait to go back and try all of the other dishes. Everyone must try this restaurant! The owners are very kind and were there as well. Amazing food, great ambiance, and an excellent experience!
The outdoor patio dining is just fabulous and you feel so enchanted by the ambience. Wonderful service and cuisine just made it an enjoyable dining experience.
Fantastic great service food and wait staff
Quiet courtyard dining, nice evening ambiance, simple decor / furniture, food reasonably priced and good, excellent friendly service.
Great Vietnamese cuisine. Great flavors. Good portion size. Tasty cocktails. Beautiful indoor dining and outdoor patio.
One of our favorite gardens in the city and the food is fresh and lovely!!
Service was horrible. We ordered a bottle of wine and it was dropped at our table with the bottle opener. We were obviously expected to open our own bottle of wine. Our waiter actually left and went home (maybe quit?) in the middle of our dinner. The whole meal was so bad that it actually became comical. Many, many patrons around us simply got up and left after waiting for service for an extended period of time. We probably should have done the same. I wish I could say that the food was worth the poor service, but it wasn't.
Had reservations for V Day evening. Took 10 min to be greeted by host and then he responded “I guess you can sit here”. Took another 15 min for water to arrive. And 15 min after that, we still weren’t visited by any server we left and noticed another table left as well. For a nicer restaurant, this was very disappointing. Luckily Broadway Cellars had a table and our evening was salvaged.
Service was extremely slow and amateurish. Food wasn’t quite as good as previously but acceptable.
Not sure how to describe how awful the service was tonight. I was just truly flabbergasted at how you could screw up that bad. Do not go here because it was truly that bad of an experience. It wasn’t the food but the truly awful way this place is apparently run at this point in time. Will not be going back.
Terrible service, long wait, and mediocre food. Will not come back.
It was a horrible night. Several tables left, it took 30 min
This was one of the worst service experiences I have ever had at a restaurant. The food was mediocre. I will not return to Pasteur.
Uneven, shakey table at first
Too few and unresponsive wait staff
Waited 45 minutes for appetizers
Another 30 for entrees
Food served lukewarm-but tasty
Had to track down waiter for check and take payment to cashier ourselves.
We haven't been to Pasteur in a few years. It is still really good. Fortunately, it has returned to it's roots of being inexpensive with great food.
So, the food is ok, inremarkable but no complaints. The service is... Nonexistant. No one came to take our order, no one refilled our water, no one checked if we needed something. To cap the night, we paid with credit cards and they brought no pens...
What once was a very good spot, it's sad to say that Pasteur has reached the end. We've been patronizing this spot in our neighborhood back to it's Argyle Street days and it's very sad to see it deteriorate to this point. Service was from the bizarro world - a single person who acted as hostess, waiter and bus. We ordered a bottle of wine and 15 minutes later were told that they were out of stock. So we reorder wine and order our food at the same time. 15 minutes later, a busboy appears with 2 wine glasses, but puts our bottle on the empty table across from us and disappears. 30 minutes in, and we still don't have drinks. Suddenly one of our entrees appears in the middle of the table. When we ask about the appetizers, we are told that all the food comes out at once! Well we had one entree in front of us and were staring at our unopened bottle of wine sitting on the table across from us. 5 minutes later our appetizers appear and the wine gets opened (35 minutes after sitting down in a restaurant on a Saturday night with only 6 other diners occupying 3 tables). We eat the appetizers, but the second entree is now missing in action. 15 minutes later the 2nd entree appears. It is evident that the quality of the ingredients has sunk a notch, though the food was still good, but not like the old Pasteur. It's tough watching Pasteur end this way.
Restaurant was closed. There was no note in the door to explain they had a broken pipe leak.
This was a birthday dinner. Service was excellent (but the restaurant was not crowded). The food was very good.
The food was great, service was a little slow, but friendly, and not bad. They were out of a lot of items though.
Xmas Holiday dinner, we’ve been doing it for years with the moms at our grade school. Always love the food, service and I’ll Beyonce.
It seems as if Pasteur was once a restaurant that the owners really cared about, but now are looking to retire by not putting anything into the place, but giving a darn what waiters and waitresses they hire. The food was fine, but the waitstaff was indifferent and incompetent. The chairs were worn, the menus tatty, and lots of lightbulbs were out. Sad overall.
Maybe the worst restaurant experience of my whole life
They are going out of business...not enough staff, no wine list. Two plus hours to get our entree. Six tables up and left. This is a shame for a restaurant that still sells wonderful food!
No wine list and Motown music was blasting away in a Vietnamese restaurant. A person in my party asked for salt and pepper and our truly bizarre waiter exclaimed that no one had made that request in his 7 years working at the restaurant. And then he brought 2 salts and no pepper! Maybe the man bun was restricting the blood flow to his cranium but I will not be making a return trip to Pasteur.
One of the worst dining experiences ever. We walked in and wait a couple of minutes to be seated. We were then seated next to a table containing dirty dishes that never got cleared away. We waited about 10 minutes for a waiter to come over and take our drink order. We then waited another 10+ minutes for the drink to be delivered. When it did not come, we stood up and headed for the door. The waiter intercepted us and asked us what was wrong. We mentioned the slow service, the lack of drink delivery and the dirty table. He did not seem really flustered by this and we then left for good. The restaurant was not crowded at all. We wanted a 7:30 reservation, but the closest we could get on Open Table was 8pm. So we took it. We were very surprised to walk into the restaurant and see it 1/3 full at 8pm . There is no way that a 7:30pm reservation should have been not available. This used to be a great restaurant. It is no longer. We will not return.
Dining at Pasteur was a horrible experience. First, although we had a reservation and the restaurant was almost empty when we arrived, the host who was also the waiter and the bus boy, told us we could not have a 4 top, as they were all reserved. THIS WAS AN OUTRIGHT LIE, as there were many 4 tops available when we left. Second, the food was awful, tasteless and over priced. Not even close to how it was described on the menu. For example, the breading on the Tom Lan Bot Chien (Shrimp Tempura), was thick and greasy. The broth in the Pho Rau Cai (Vegetable Noodle Soup) was weakand tasteless, and I had to ask for the normal vegetables, bean sprouts, etc. (there was 1 piece of an old lime and 3 slices of jalapeno. The entrees were worse. There was one waiter, who was also the host and bus boy. Needless to say the service was terrible. Third, there was no heat---there was one electric heater for the entire restaurant. We will never return to this dump and neither should you.
Service was good, food was delicious with some good vegetarian options. My only suggestion for improvement is it would be good if they offered brown rice as an alternative to white rice
À very good experience.
Food was good, service slow (had to skip ordered dessert), some bathrooms were broken//loses. Ugly sight of some
Remodelling/ storage leading up the staicase.
Poor service, 20 minutes in before anyone even cared to speak to us and take drinks order, took almost an hour more to get our dinner
Kitchen seemed to be struggling with orders. Mine was done wrong and had to go back. Waiter was super apologetic. Table next to us could not seem to get there food. Mango Mojito was awful!
Great food, spacious seating, and quiet. The food is beautiful, tasty, and an excellent value.
I was here years ago and have been meaning to go back. So glad I did. The food is great. And affordable compared to Le Colonial. Highly recommend. The lamb dish was so yummy The spring rolls so very fresh.
Great service, great food, not noisy
They only had 1 server for every customer there during our reservation. Felt sorry for her-she had to seat people (where’s host), she had to take orders, she had to bring water, bus tables and set up. Food came out slow. One table got up and left because of all this. How does owner/management allow this to happen? Are they not doing well?
Due to understaffing, our experience was a disaster. It took more than half an hour for our orders to be taken. It took another half hour before our drinks were delivered and we sat in the restaurant For an hour and a half until our entrées were served. The staff was apologetic, but the experience was unsatisfactory. Many tables walked out, for which I don’t blame them. I have no incentive to return.
Sitting at a table for four near the bar, David, one of the bartenders, took care of us. We spent over three hours there in one of the most delightful, truly leisurely and superb meals we've had in a long time. We never felt pressured and never ignored. The drinks were excellent. The appetizers were wonderful (Japanese eggplant, the crepe, spring rolls) and we got around to a superb main course of curry-roasted duck (x 2), passion fruit salmon and bird's nest seafood, all fresh, delicately spiced and really tasty. Would so go back to sample more dishes and to patronize such a wonderful local restaurant that's both elegant and accommodating; one of the best we've been to in some time.
The food was absolutely delicious and we appreciated the attentive but not intrusive service. The decor was elegant but comfortable.
Food was very good though not quite as good as last time I was here and they were short staffed so service was s but slow
